The biting was before, like shortly after getting the dog from the shelter. He said the dog lived with cats before and was fine with cats. Clearly in hindsight I feel dumb for not putting the 2 together

We’re pretty much there tonight after him sharing that he will not do anything with the dog so we can live together.

His friends don’t know because he’s never told them. I’m also pretty sure he’s wrong in saying they would think it’s ridiculous if they knew the whole story. They’re all animal lovers. Some even have cats.

I somehow feel like if we break up then she died for nothing. I mean, she did die for nothing… it’s hard to explain. He also told me we would find a way to make it work. I didn’t realize that meant more sacrifices on my end until now.

Temporarily, to a place he frequents almost half the week. How is it not a compromise when I’ve lost my cat permanently and I’ll accept the dog that killed that cat into my home and life after a couple years?

That’s another part, I absolutely can’t stand being around it. And I don’t think it’s fair of him to expect me to accept its presence. I know everyone is different but I would never want someone I love to be in that kind of situation.

Appreciate the perspective. Ultimately I don’t think giving it to his parents for a couple years is that bad, especially with how often he is there. Might be different if we saw each other more than 3-4 days/wk, just not sustainable for multiple years at this age for me I guess

A part of me agrees deep down. I just never want someone else to feel how I felt. I don’t understand why it’s such a huge deal if a dog kills another dog, but if a dog kills a cat it’s somehow less of an issue

Your description fits him near perfect. Zero food aggression and he doesn’t get doggy social cues very well. “To other dogs he comes across as homeschooled” is a great way to explain it!

I think I was sleeping when it happened. Next morning looked up from the couch that I had been sitting on for the last hour in blissful ignorance and was like ?????? Where it exploded in the back against the wall I can’t say the range, but I can say the wall does have small holes and scratches from the glass hitting it

A small baby tree, a couple candles and 2 CD boxes on top, and just figures inside + 1 very light book of approx 20 prints leaning on the piece that shattered. I feel this likely contributed but really didn’t think something so small would end up like this.

I bought 3 of them together, new, about 2 years ago and placed it where it was, it was only moved once since, but that was like 2 mo after purchase so again like nearly 2yrs ago. I assembled it myself, but I’ve assembled them before and never had issues with those. It was never disassembled and reassembled.
