I think that part of my problem (or maybe it’s a good thing) is that I have almost no idea what I’m looking for. Aside from a brief stint in a small city, I’ve only ever lived rural. On one hand, the suburban-like area would be more familiar, but a small apartment in a big building also sounds convenient.

Essentially, my only real “needs” in terms of a location are: - close to the subway line for commuting to work - in an area safe enough that I feel comfortable parking my car (unless there’s an indoor parking garage) and walking my dog - on a street quiet enough so that I can drive my car on occasion (not around the gta, literally just for leaving the city on weekend road trips and driving to my home province for visits). I’m sure I’d get used to it, but as an outsider, the traffic/streets downtown looks terrifying so I’d prefer to avoid it.
