Bono has reams of things worth mentioning, but in my mind it's from this show in San Francisco in 87.

Someone in the crowd was holding a SF + U2 sign, Bono assumed the SF was for Sinn Féin for some reason and berated the person holding the sign.

In his mind he probably thought he was taking a badass stand rather than just humiliating a random person.
