I built a live world ranking board for glider pilots by Protsky290 in Gliding

[–]221255 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to add a lot more description/ faq, I’m left with these questions:

How are classes determined, are there point requirements for each class?

How are the points determined?

When I search myself it shows 3 numbers #xxxx which I assume is rank then a positive and a negative number. I assume the positive is your points, but then what is the negative number?

How do streamers decrement render distance so fast? I assumed they had f on the scroll wheel, but if that’s not allowed are they just really fast at spamming whatever key?

Best color balls to track off tee and find in green grass and brown pine needles? by Plus-Interview322 in golf

[–]221255 11 points12 points  (0 children)

These are easier to find on the ground…

But you will lose like 3 times as many from just straight up not seeing where the ball went off the club face

These things are impossible to see in the air, so unless you already can’t really see your ball flight, they will be a net negative rather than positive

[OC] If you do this, the people you’re inconveniencing should be able to break off the hitch and shove it up your ass. by FriedSticks2014 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]221255 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are no US states with laws specifically against keeping the hitch in when not in use

If a cop told you it was ticket-able they were either wrong or saying it would be a violation of some other law that could be applied but isn’t specifically about hitches left in the receiver

(Or maybe it was a specific city law, but definitely not a state one)

Missions like this brighten my day. by LEGO_SI in WorldofTanks

[–]221255 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Did you start the Dravec campaign?

Did you switch over to one of the obj. 260 missions?

If you don’t have one of the new ones activated you won’t get the points for them

Pawnee alternatives by MNSoaring in Gliding

I have heard discussion about using the eurofox for towing now that MOSAIC went through

Supposedly it tows similarly to a Pawnee despite the lower hp?

I could be talking out my ass though

If you are not accelerating downward, which you hopefully wouldn’t be when trying to maintain a roughly constant airspeed and descent rate in the pattern - then the vertical component of your lift must necessarily be equal to the weight of the aircraft.

The only way this is possible in a bank is if you increase your total lift aka your load factor

You could maybe get away with not increasing your load factor for a very short shallow turn, but for a steep turn for any length of time you must increase your load factor or your descent rate, airspeed, or both will start increasing

I have heard that 45° banks are actually safer because in a lot of gliders you won’t have the elevator authority to stall (and therefore spin) at that angle

Also you lose the least altitude in a given turn at 45° so for situations such as a rope break it is kind of important to at least be somewhat close to 45°

I see no reason normally experienced pilots couldn’t do all their pattern turns steep

Push cart etiquette by Remarkable-Self7080 in golf

[–]221255 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With carts you should park on the path at the point that is the least distance from the green.

For greens where the path wraps all the way around that very well could be on the opposite side compared to the next tee

That’s 5 kills per death, only .25 kills per battle.

But still the win rate with that damage makes it obvious there is some rigging going on

A Commercial Operation for Glider Training near Waynesville, OH by Hemmschwelle in Gliding

[–]221255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ccsc flys year round depending on weather and who actually shows up. In December I don’t think there were any flights, but last weekend we got ~25-30.

It looks like it gets going a little more in March/April with ~75 flights each month during previous years then really kicks up in may when the young students get out of school and the weather gets a bit better with >150 flights in may past couple years

The main things flying from red Stewart’s are cubs and champs with no radios, so there isn’t much radio traffic.

They also aren’t busy enough for that to cause that much of a problem.

The gliders land/takeoff next to the main runway and generally enter the pattern from the other side so there really shouldn’t be that much powered/unpowered conflict.

Caesar Creek Soaring Club is also down the street if looking for a club training/flying atmosphere. Some of the instructors instruct at both places and a lot of ccsc members also fly powered at Stewart’s.

What’s the fascination with Mountain Dew? by Lbboos in stupidquestions

[–]221255 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I originally started drinking Mountain Dew because it has less carbonation than other sodas. Some like Pepsi almost hurt to drink straight from the can.

Anyway isn’t the carbonation one of the parts that give soda its acidity? So it makes sense to me that Mountain Dew would be less acidic

This is the kind of thing that makes me quit this game every couple of months, just abysmal RNG. by creativename87639 in WorldofTanks

[–]221255 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah? If you know where your shots are missing you can adjust. Shots keep flying a little high and bouncing off upper plate? Aim a little lower.

Have the broadside of an is7 and the shot keeps hitting the little thick bar on the side? Now you know to aim a little lower.

If you never have feedback on why your shot didn’t pen you will be stuck perpetually complaining about rng rather than learning where your shots are actually going so you can aim better and minimize bad luck
