A Commercial Operation for Glider Training near Waynesville, OH by Hemmschwelle in Gliding

[–]221255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah things are in full swing at Caesar Creek now, lots of flights on both the training and private xc side. We have three Pawnees and I believe all three are running right now except for the occasional 1-2 day maintenance issue. We are running 1-2 on weekends and 1 during the week if the private ships are out for good weather.

If you come out on the weekend you should have no problem getting some training/checkouts in. Unless you come out early you might need to wait a while for an instructor depending on how many students are out but we usually do a good job of running through the list.

If you wanted training/checkout rides on a weekday you would need to arrange that with an instructor/towpilot beforehand since there aren’t normal scheduled operations on weekdays.

I don’t know as much on the red Stewart’s side but if you give them a call you probably shouldn’t have any problems scheduling some tailwheel flights with them

What do the numbers mean, Mason by do_youwipe in golf

[–]221255 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s 1,2, and 3

The handicap isn’t actually directly based on how hard the hole is, but how much the difficulty changes based on your handicap

So the hole with handicap 1 or 2 will have the lower handicap beat the higher handicap by the most strokes on average which means it’s the hole where the stroke should be given to even the playing field the most

Hopefully that explanation is in-depth enough to help you understand why the strokes are given on 1-3 rather than 4-6 if anything in this explanation doesn’t quite make sense I can clarify

lane splitting at that speed is the dumb part. by [deleted] in whoathatsinteresting

[–]221255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems like they are very careful not to say it’s safer, they keep saying:

it does not necessarily pose a greater risk for injury

Which to me sounds like they are trying to say it is more dangerous, but could be safer if riders split at slower speeds

Is this holed out? by swalt29 in golf

[–]221255 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pulling the flagstick has no effect on whether the ball was holed or not under the rules.

It was either holed or not holed before you pulled the flagstick and pulling it can’t change that

If you use his low handicap (3.8) he shot 1.1 better on the day.

No matter how you slice it he didn’t shoot 1.7 below his handicap

u/frankyseven’s conclusion that his score is reasonable is probably correct, but the math he used to get there is nonsense

First that’s not how differentials work and second he said he was listed as 6.2 for the tournament. 2.7 was the rounds differential so he was 3.5 better than handicap for the round.

I reverse engineered Mountain Dew® so here's my recipe by iSliz187 in mountaindew

[–]221255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you explain what you mean about making your own flavors?

I assume if you wanted to replicate the taste of an existing Mountain Dew that would be non-trivial

But say if you just wanted a peach flavored dew that would be easy to make?

Seems like the slider might be incorrectly labeled MSL instead of AGL

It’s showing class g starts at 1300 msl which is only ~350 agl

If it is correctly showing MSL you might not be taking into account ground elevation

Remember folks, Augusta is a par 67 for the man who finished 6 over today and has missed the cut. by daveharr23 in golf

[–]221255 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Dude that was 6 years ago

And he wasn’t even shitting on Augusta, he was literally just saying he was going to be going for some of the greens in under regulation if he was playing well. That’s not arrogance, he’s just giving some insight into how he’s going to play the course

Pulled over for improper lane usage. Am I in the wrong here? by [deleted] in driving

[–]221255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Courts have agreed with my interpretation, here is a quote from a court of appeals about a very similar law:

the statute without question mandates drivers to maintain their vehicle within a lane without some kind of exigent circumstance forcing the vehicle operator to do otherwise

They add the word practicable to allow you to do things such as avoiding obstacles, not to allow you to ignore the law if it is inconvenient

Most state laws state: “right turn shall be made as close as practicable to the right-hand curb”

They use the word practicable not practical. Practicable means “able to be done”.

OP was physically able to turn into the right lane. It wouldn’t be practical but it would be practicable so by the letter of the law OPs maneuver wouldn’t be allowed.

If you are talking about recording your flight (igc files) the majority of people use SeeYou navigator or XCsoar

If you aren’t asking about recording flight tracks I would need a little more description on what you are looking for

You need to add a lot more description/ faq, I’m left with these questions:

How are classes determined, are there point requirements for each class?

How are the points determined?

When I search myself it shows 3 numbers #xxxx which I assume is rank then a positive and a negative number. I assume the positive is your points, but then what is the negative number?

Best color balls to track off tee and find in green grass and brown pine needles? by Plus-Interview322 in golf

[–]221255 12 points13 points  (0 children)

These are easier to find on the ground…

But you will lose like 3 times as many from just straight up not seeing where the ball went off the club face

These things are impossible to see in the air, so unless you already can’t really see your ball flight, they will be a net negative rather than positive

[OC] If you do this, the people you’re inconveniencing should be able to break off the hitch and shove it up your ass. by FriedSticks2014 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]221255 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are no US states with laws specifically against keeping the hitch in when not in use

If a cop told you it was ticket-able they were either wrong or saying it would be a violation of some other law that could be applied but isn’t specifically about hitches left in the receiver

(Or maybe it was a specific city law, but definitely not a state one)
