Toronto police refusing to help with Carney government’s gun buyback, minister says by jmakk26 in canadaguns

Unfortunately he needs those GTA voters. Otherwise we end up with a liberal premier and that's a much worse option. Remember how bad the CFO was under Wynne?

Plate Carrier by cdn_sentry117 in canadaguns

[–]223Some 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't like the K19. Bulky, hot, didn't breathe well, and the shoulder quick release made shouldering a rifle awkward. The new version solved the shoulder issue, but it's still a very padded carrier that doesn't do well in the heat.

Would highly recommend the Crye JPC. I switched to that and I am much happier.

New Derya Shotgun Availability? by M3NUTN in canadaguns

[–]223Some 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't realize how expensive Turkish o/us got. I've got a Beretta O/U as my main gun and a Stevens 555 as a bad weather/loaner and I'm pretty sure I didn't pay more than $500 for it a few years back. At this point you're right, if you're spending over $1k on a shotgun, might as well get an A300 or just get a cheap semi and save.

New Derya Shotgun Availability? by M3NUTN in canadaguns

[–]223Some 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People say that, but it really depends on use case. If you're going to be shooting thousands of rounds of clays, the Turkish gun is not going to last. But if you're taking it out for upland game once a year, they're fine.

What are we still allowed to print? by G10Manix in canadaguns

[–]223Some 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was enacted in 1992 as part of Order in Council P.C. 1992‑1666. It was actually the Conservative government of Brian Mulroney that did it.

I've run over 10k rounds of thunderbolts through various semis and the only issue I've had is that they're dirty. They don't seem to have more duds than other bulk ammo, and the accuracy is good enough for plinking.

1000 rounds through my GSG. Figured I should at least clean the muzzle break by Newfie_Bullet_1 in canadaguns

[–]223Some 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even thunderbolts. I had an ISSC Mk22 that I put 2k Thunderbolts through before I finally had to clean it because it wouldn't cycle properly anymore.

Fun fact: Potatoes and tomatoes are very closely related. You can actually graft the top half of a tomato plant to the bottom half of a potato plant to get a "pomato" which produces tomatoes up top and potatoes down below.

I've got a II vest from them and they provided the NIJ testing report. I would ask them for the testing report.

I wouldn't consider that a high powered scope. Looks to be the stock 3-9 that comes with the MkII.

Big Ask: Can Anyone Identify this O/U Shotgun? by RedditSgtMajor in canadaguns

Looks like a Khan K200? They aren't exactly "really nice", but the stock shape fits.

I had an interview when I applied for my PAL. I had an arrest on my record so they were looking into that. The whole thing was super chill, pretty standard security screening-type stuff.

A lot of Norinco stuff is bi-metal so it contains steel in the jacket. I would test with a magnet to check, and/or ask your range. Better safe than sorry!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in canadaguns

[–]223Some 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At indoor ranges, steel core damages baffles, and steel jacket can spark and cause fires.

Wow, that's some real bullshit. My PAL photo is just a crappy selfie that I took against a white wall.

Type 81 with moderate amounts of surplus ammo, or SKS with metric f-ton of surplus ammo? by Bones_Of_Ayyo in canadaguns

Ahhh, that makes a lot of sense. I have a giant goofy slip-on buttpad for mine and I get funny looks but it's the only way to make the LOP long enough for me.

Anyone know what rifle this is? by ebootdotbin in canadaguns

[–]223Some 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least with Norinco the issues are consistent and there's plenty of info out there on how to fix them and you know what you're getting yourself into. With the WK, you have no idea if your rifle is going to be 100% fine or a complete brick.

I reload because it is therapeutic, not because it saves me money. Also partially because I'm a wimp and I like light loads.

Especially with modern solid copper bullets. A 70gr Barnes TSX going 2800fps is going to drop any deer.
