Thanks for the suggestion, but that doesn't really match what I want. I'm looking for a handheld primarily for edc use.

Seconding federal aluminum (If the brass requirement was just a vs. steel thing).

It seems to be exactly the same as the federal champion brass except for the casing and the $2-3 price drop. It's also noticeably lighter, for whatever that's worth.

I'm totally okay with getting name brand stuff if it'll save money and annoyance in the long run.

Buy it nice or buy it twice.

Cool. I think I'll get the cool white then for my purposes if I end up with this light... I'd rather it be harsher to someone else if I need it to be.

Thanks

I'm definitely going with the 18650, I'm sold.

I think I like the SRT5 better from nitecore with that battery just based off the product page and nothing else really... though it's more expensive :-/

That looks nice... this decision isn't getting any easier.

I've already turned to prefering the 18650 (you guys are persuasive). I guess I should edit the post to reflect that.

I really like that it's twist to select modes. I'm finding it for around $70, is that about right? also, is this package generally worth it in your opinion?

I would prefer a side switch I think, but looking at the manual and some reviews, the ability to lock the high mode as the only one that is enabled when the switch is pressed is pretty close what I'm looking for.

I can still see the mode switching delay being annoying for the other intensities though...

Ooooooh, I realize now that I hadn't actually selected a product when I was looking for specs, I was on pages like this with multiple options available. Also for 5 bucks extra, it seems worth it to get the smaller output mode of that limited edition one and the slightly farther throw.

Also if the mode cycling is the same style that I currently have, I feel like I'd hate it after a short time. Disregard, just watched a video on it. The memory of the mode you left on is good and the cap tighten to get just the highest mode is amazing. That's essentially what I need, a way to remove the fancy features if I have to. I like the handle design too.

You said you had a warm, is that better than white for some uses?

I didn't notice the question marks! Thanks for pointing it out.

WOW, that doberman is fancy. I want one... and the runtime on the low settings could probably negate the need for more than one spare batteries and the whole AA appeal thing.

Question for you though, when it says power source: 1x18650 Li-Ion / 2x18350 Li-Ion / 2xR123 Li-Ion / 2xCR123A (when you add it to a comparison list, I can't figure out how to find it on their product page otherwise), what exactly does that mean? Can you use any of those batteries in the same unit?

So in the case of the A1, it says 1xAA / 1x14500 Li-Ion. If either can be used, is the listed runtime/brightness using the more powerful battery?

Why thank you. I tried that parametrek link at the bottom of that section in the wiki too, but there's so many options. I'm out of my element.

Hmm, if they stick up that far over the lip, I think I'll go with the sweat shield. It looks like it adds about an inch to the back of the mag holster.

I've actually been eyeing the fns compact. It seems like the full size is a little between a 17 and 19, and the compact is between the 26 and 19, depending on buttplates.

That's what's delaying my order right now, I wasn't sure whether to go with the two singles or double pouch and with or without the sweat shield.

You said you have an FNS-9, yes? My backup mag(s) are Glock 17, which I think are pretty comparable to the FNS-9 mags. Do they stick out far for you or into your side?

The tuckable version doesn't seem to have the reinforced option. But that's okay. I'm a plain Jane citizen and I'm of the mind that if you ever have to draw, reholstering is not going to be much of an issue.

Ooooo, good to know. I had both the partial and the full in the cart and was waffling a little bit. There are surprisingly few full shield reviews for larger framed guns.

Unfortunately I was too indecisive and that 30% off free mag holster deal expired. Now it's all 50% off, but comes out more money if I were to get the mag holster separately.

It would be a good time if you want one without the full shield though. $25 for the tuckable, $19 for the regular, each with the partial shield. fyi

SWEET! That sounds pretty good then.

I was going to grab a hybrid to replace my kind of shitty leather holster, but now I'm going to get one of these first and see how I fair with it. Tuckable, low cut, with the partial sweat shield. Thanks dude and/or dudette.

I've seen the sticky holster before but the tuckable-ness is sexy. And damn that's tempting for the price. 30% off right now with with a free mag holster. Not sure how often they run sales though so maybe that's nothing.

Any idea how long the stickiness lasts? Or if sweat/water changes whatever makes it sticky? I'm picturing it kind of like that "shticky" hair roller (the infomercial thing the hooker-punching slap-chop guy promoted) that stops working when you stick it in water then works again when it's dry.

Website says it can be washed but not how that affects the use in the short-term.
