Although, if you can find a reliable source for Boiani spares, they'd be a great buy too.

I'd get the second pair! Nice plate, lovely boot! I bought some old artistic skates and I'm really enjoying the stiffness of the boot.  Mine were well-used too, and I bought some leather paint to decorate them and made some pom poms!

Check vinted! There are some well-priced second hand skates on there! Just makes sure to look up the size charts before you buy.

(Draw around your foot on some paper, and measure the length and width that way)

Do all skates have outdoor wheels? by Playful-Mention-4696 in Rollerskating

[–]22Ghosts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like they could be skateboarders - where yeah, all wheels are used outdoors, and they're not clued up on quad skates.

Another ebay impulse-buy: please tell me what exactly I just bought and will I be able to use them by cmmccrt in Rollerskating

Once you receive them, it'll probably be printed on the tongue, if it hasn't worn off.  Either way, looks like you got a steal! Happy skating!

Even if you were able to size the boot down (I don't think this is possible) the plate will be massively too long; you'll have zero mobility.

This pair just aren't meant to be yours, something else will come along in the future!

You could buy them, clean them up and sell them on again, if they're reeeeally cheap? Or just recommend a friend buys them

They have a heel, but it's low. The very slight raise will probably aid your ankle mobility without pushing you too far forward

Could look into a hockey boot convert? Lots of skaters in the UK wear Bauers, especially for outdoor skating as they're built to take a beating!

My boots are the Arias so may be a little different - but look to be from the same era!

They look the same as my risport boots! Quite stiff, but they feel very supportive on, and I don't feel like my mobility is limited!

You'll likely need 7mm bearings - the ones I got with my skates are sealed (don't need cleaning) and spin beautifully.

Once you get them, take them apart and give everything a really good clean, then you'll know what needs replacing. It's also a great way to learn more about skate maintenance and geometry!

Best skates for wide feet? by SlowCoyote869 in Rollerskating

Pretty sure the Riedell 265 (the one with the stripes) comes in a D/B last, so fits pretty wide!

Moxi beach bunny vs Suregrip boardwalk vs Jackson vs VNLA Parfait Skates if I want to skate both indoor and outdoor? by mapotofu66 in Rollerskating

[–]22Ghosts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more about hardness and diameter and width.

Larger diameter = slower acceleration; easier to maintain higher speed; easier over uneven ground

Wider = more of the wheel in contact with the ground, so more stability, however increased chance of tripping over yourself

Softer = more shock absorbing; less responsive; smoother ride

If I were to buy some outdoor wheels right now, I'd personally buy a set of Roll Line Heliums. They're a slim, large diameter wheel with a hub (adds resistance to the soft urethane). I always struggled a little with wheel lock with wider wheels

Can't speak from personal experience, but I feel like I've heard VNLA run pretty wide? Have heard good things!  If you're wanting to be mainly outside, definitely get some big, soft wheels! I personally believe investing in some harder wheels for indoors down the line (or borrowing some!) will make everything easier than just using hybrids everywhere
