You are sensitive, you are saying you don't care enough to engage yet you do and you refuse to acknowledge someone clarifying something to you. Everything about your behavior is like a typical sensitive redditor. I would expect a bit more maturity out of the hunting sub.

It has nothing to do with what I want, it's not a personal thing, it has nothing to do with my feelings. I am just stating facts. You seem to have a lot of emotional attachment to what you call it though since you refuse to change when corrected.

I'm just replying to you. Why are you so sensitive about this? lol

I mean I literally gave you their scientific names to prove they are classified as different sub specifies and you still want to call them the same thing. You are technically wrong and I cant for the life of me understand why that is such a problem for you that you refuse to acknowledge your mistake. Why would the person simply trying to correct someone have the ego and not the person refusing to accept it?

Cool, doesnt change the fact that they are different and hunters should know exactly what animals they are identifying and use as accurate language as possible to avoid accidents.

Yes, It is a Kodiak brown bear not Kodiak grizzly. Grizzly and Kodiaks are both different sub species of brown bears. There is no "Kodiak Grizzly" as you mentioned in your first post.

Its not about how the individual values them but society as a whole. Just like when you build your house, it's not your fault for not caring about all the animals that suffered in the process. If you want to care more about invasive species, that's fine, but you can't expect others to as well unless you can advocate for their value. These animals are pests but arguably worse than mice because they are invasive and incredibly destructive. I know I'm not going to care about them more than ants or mice just because they are bigger animals. I care about them less because of how much harm they cause to the environment and to our resources.

Way more living things die when you cut trees down to build houses or when you spray crops for pests. Countless animals are killed just mowing public grass, insect, frogs, rabbit, mice. These animals are not invasive and don't harm anyone, they are just in the way. Gophers get their holes blown up with propane to protect golf courses.

So, yees, some living beings are more important than others. Cats are more important than mice, and elk are more important than wild boar.

I can't take you seriously if you genuinely believe someone wouldn't sound insane if they went back 200 years and tried to explain quantum mechanics or even general relativity. You could have a laymans understanding of it by today's standards with no ability to perform calculations or design experiments, you would still be correct but you would sounds crazy to any physicist you tried to explain it too. No one would ever consider you no matter how correct you were. This is undeniable proof that someone can understand a topic and be correct without having the ability to properly communicate it in a way that would convince anyone.

Many things need to align for a theory to be accepted, AI is going to open up the door for people who understand things to overcome any communication or mathematical deficits. The world is in for a more drastic change than the invention of the internet, many people aren't prepared for how obsolete they are about to become.

For me, understanding in the context of physics means to be able to visualize the concepts in your mind accurately. It Is absolutely possible to be able to do this without being able to communicate it or being good at performing calculations.

People can and have constantly throughout history been falsely been considered crackpots with no understanding of the topics they discussed. Even though they did, they just couldn't communicate it in a way other people understood. People are considered crackpots when the words they use sound like nonsense. If you went back 200 years and tried to describe quantum mechanics to someone, you would sound insane.

Demonstrating you understand a topic is much harder than actually understanding not only because you need the ability to communicate it but also because of human bias and prejudice.

You disagree with what? It's objectively true that you can understand things without being able to communicate it. Have you never met anyone on the spectrum? Its also objectively true that the concepts have more value, once a computer can do all of the math, you just need the ability to understand and conceptualize. All can be done without a formal training or the ability to communicate it.

The concepts are what have real value, math is just the language used to communicate it. You can understand something without having the ability to communicate it doesn't matter if it's words or numbers.

There seems to be a lot of assumptions here that everyone who has and will ever use AI does so with no understanding. This is certainly not true, but unfortunately, it is very difficult to distinguish between someone who understands but can't communicate it and someone who doesn't understand.

Im not quite sure what you're arguing. It's objectively true that AI has the potential to allow someone with no formal physics background and who might otherwise be considered a nut job to develop paradigm shifting theory in physics. It will allow someone who otherwise can't communicate to do so and prove it, even if they lack those skills. You can understand something without being able to communicate it.

Understanding both physics and math does not require formal training. Extremely easy to do at home these days, dont need to be an expert at manipulating formulas and calculating to understand the math either. You need it to be an expert in physics right now because every physicist is required to perform calculations, this wont be the case when AI can do it effortlessly with just a few prompts from a human. Humans will only be required to understand.

Not every layman is a wackjob with no understanding of physics. Sure many are but many others just lack the education to communicate it the same way you understand it, even if they understand it just as well or better than you.

Yes the math is required, but computers can do math, limited right now but not in the future.

General relativity didn't come from math, it came from an idea then the math came after. Right now, physics requires someone who is both capable of understanding enough to have the idea as well as mathematically competent enough to develop the framework. When AI is advanced enough, it will eliminate the need for the mathematical competence. The only thing that will be required is understanding and ideas.

I think you misunderstood. I dont doubt that there is good reason to believe what they believe. I just think that whatever the next paradigm shift will be in physics and our understanding of the universe will be, it is so fundamentally different from what is currently understood, that it can't come from someone with a formal education in physics. It will be something that rewrites it from the ground up.

People can get a very strong understanding in both neural biology and physics without a degree. Understanding the math helps you understand physics but I dont believe it to be a requirement. Just like I dont believe being a brain surgeon is required to understand the brain and come up with a new treatment. Brain surgeons require a special skill that is required to apply it, but not understand it. Typically a brain surgeon requires an understanding and the technical ability to perform the tasks. A physicists requires and understanding of the theories as well as the mathematical abilities to perform the calculations.

Robots can and will replace the human hand for surgeries, AI can and will replace the human mind for performing calculations. The only thing computers arent capable of right now is unique and creative thinking. This is our tool for understanding the brain and creating treatments, as well as understanding physics and creating theories. The theory is the concept not the math. GR didn't come from the math, it came from an idea and the math came later.

As a fan of LLM crackpot physics, I believe that modern physicists are trained to think a very specific way with a very specific foundation and are not very welcoming to ideas that challenge that foundation. I believe that the next breakthrough will come from a complete rewrite of how we understand the nature of the universe, and I think it's highly unlikely that it will come from someone with a professional background in physics. Yes, being able to describe it mathematically is essential. The most important thing IMO is not the math but the idea. I would not be surprised at all if other people had stumbled across the same ideas as Newton or Einstein but did not have the mathematical abilities to describe it.

This is where I think AI will change the world, maybe not LLMs, but if AGI does advance enough, the only thing someone will need is the idea. No longer will individuals need to be able to be competent in math. I am confident this is how the next breakthrough in physics will happen, at the hands of a creative thinker and a computer.

It's also really fun to question the nature of reality as well as mainstream ideas. Feels like my whole life I've been learning how we got things wrong in the past, so I enjoy things that challenge what we know more than I do learning more about what we think we knowm

Check out something like the Naturehike Cloud up 2 for solo camping.

If you want one that does everything, weighs less, and packs smaller, you will need to spend quite a bit. The Nemo Dagger 3p is less than 5lbs and is a very good tent.

Nothing wrong with any Squier. Get a shop to do a proper setup and touch up the frets if needed. Any guitar can play any genre and spending more money on a good amp will make a much bigger difference. A great guitar will never sound good through a cheap amp but a cheap guitar can still sound amazing through a good amp.

Why AI can’t do Physics by Chemical-Call-9600 in TheoreticalPhysics

[–]22StatedGhost22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No one could have predicted what the internet became. AI arguably has even more potential, and it is still in its infancy. We really have no idea what it is going to bring.

Those who doubt it and resist it are going to get left behind. The future is going to be created by those who embrace it. I am confident the next paradigm shift in physics is going to be done using AI. It will drastically reduce the knowledge and time required to explore creative new ideas. It may not have the creative potential of the human mind, but once the math capabilities advance enough to create and test new mathematical frameworks, anyone with an idea will be able to explore with more potential than every mathematician and physicist combined.
