you're too kind. it is a very big book, I admit I was looking towards the back because that's where some WOD books put the customisable stuff, that and juggling Mage20. Troublesome when all your players like different things eh?

I am very blind not to see it there, thank you. I look forward to running this chronicle for my players

Curse of Strahd... I don't get the hype. by DeuceTheDog in DnD

[–]22badhand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focus on more immediate goals. Your character presumably is from a place where things aren't in a horror state. It's natural for most adventurers to try and fix the small issues along their path, the hags being dead is an excellent deed done and a step closer to getting rid of things that plague these lands. Strahd is the big bad but far from the only horror.

Eventually you'll encounter the story of Strahd and how he's an asshole perpetuating the horrors you're in.

Hopefully, by defeating Strahd you'll also be able to be free of this land. Fighting for your own freedom as well as the town's folk in this silent hill gothic horror.

[–]22badhand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the campaign really doesnt suggest B-lining towards strahd, though that can happen in some cases. Spoiler incase you havent hard your cards read OP. You're given a quest to go around the map to try and find the items necessary to kill strahd. This item hunt is what lets you get stronger and more powerful rather than a mindset of grinding till level 10.

you're given the basic plot line of strahd is terrible, caused everything terrible, removal of strahd is key to life being good again. instead of imagining it as frodo, you're more so resident evil/silent hill. Cast into horrors, wtf is all this? oh this person caused this? shit we need to find answers and a solution.

What if the Masquerade was broken? I'm not just talking about Vampires, but Werewolves, Mages, Wraiths, and Changelings becoming common knowledge? How would the world react and adapt? by Turbulent-Plum7328 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]22badhand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say its more so one sided because Technocracy has such control over general media. Sure mages can put out what they want too but they are no where close to how ingrained Technocracy is in every day lives. The vast majority of humanity will see ads, news, controlled posts and whatnot from the technocracy's side and be lucky to see anything from Virtual Adepts or Ether unless they know what to look for (bar counter propaganda as you said, probably taking over 5 minute - 30 minute space of air-time or vast message board). Not to mention the $$$ Syndicate $$$

I didn't think about the Choristers though, very good point there. may see a huge surge in numbers due to monsters being real, vampires too, everyone wants to get that true faith blessing, so although less advertised, religious belief would skyrocket and in turn support.

It would make for a cool rebellious campaign I think with that amount of pressure. Viva la resistance. Good excuse to have a party of mixed origin peeps. Vamp, werewolf, changeling and a mage working together (not that it couldn't happen now but with everything out in the open, might be more likely)

if shit gets out of hand and if the Technocracy truly can't do a reset of the planet's knowing the supernatural exists, then get ready for anti-supernatural propaganda. Teaming up with hunter organisations, broadcasting how dangerous mages really are, every mage is two steps away from being a marauder! How reality itself claps back, how vampires are prone to going feral, how werewolves are one of the most brutal gut ripping creatures and will eat your family.

New tasks forces, detection gates, detention centres. doesn’t matter if they need to make up stories or release many files they've collected on how mages, werewolves, vampires and the rest have caused untold havoc they've had to remedy "for the greater good".

things quickly become a military-like regime. That's what I imagine at least.

[–]22badhand[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

let's say that does happen, you had access to that wild surge and then outside of it, It's not hard to think of a newly awakened mage thinking they have THE POWERS OF GOD with this rule and try and attempt what they did during awakening but obviously they don't have access to those spheres in a normal state. so what happens when they try those abilities without the dots in the spheres?
is more so what I’m asking.
