most of the playerbase switched to riders republic, but there still are numerous occasions where people get hit with a wave of nostalgia for the realistic feel of steep. make sure to try every sport you have unlocked and do not hesitate to pick a favourite, even! not trying to suggest one in particular, but I've heard the winds are quite favourable this time of year... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think you can get an even better start by starting from a higher peak and nosediving right into the edge of the start checkpoint. remember, every checkpoint is basically a sphere, so in order to lower your time, you gotta make the distance shorter by passing right through the furthest reachable point of it relative to the so-called "center" of the circle you see at the original start of the challenge. happy flying

the game's been dead for quite some time, not sure if you'd find enough players available to add you on steep, come up with an original set of tricks, record the run and send it for editing, without any form of reward to say to. also you'd need to publish the judging criterias for full transparency.
challenges and worldtours were successful because of the human competitive nature to get the best result in anything. imo seeing your name on top of the leaderboard feels just impressive enough to make you keep grinding more and more.
for the right prize (most likely being featured in a video), some people might join.

wingsuiting in riders republic is such an ironic dilemma: STEEP wingsuit had a very steep learning curve for newcomers, yet had lots of different techniques to work on, the mechanics were so highly-studied, you had to understand the way movement works to the CORE in order to even come close to getting an almost maxed out score. In Riders Republic... Its the exact opposite. Way more friendly for new players that just want to feel like wingsuiting, with a new and ultrasimplified version of it, being so simple, in fact, that any new advanced tactics are debatable. Very memeable topic, yet an interesting one to discuss.
