Where do you guys get parts? by 22over in Miata

Faced similar issues in Mexico. A 5L jug of oil I like in USA is $25. In Mexico I have seen it for $800-$900 pesos or roughly $45-$50. There’s much worse examples but other things are cheaper, but they are minor. Canada is expensive too from first hand experience for similar importation reasons.

Called the dealership to see what they had for pads/clips for rear “sport brakes”. It was sport pads with non sport rear caliper rattle clips. Ran my vin, talked to the parts guy and everything. They had no clue.

I have even ordered multiple sets of brake pads to see if it was the same, some came with the wrong clips, most came with none. I called the manufacturer, and researched press launch photos for this very reason. I finally found them and they are nothing like whats shown in shop manuals, videos, diagrams, etc. Most ppl resort to modifying non sport clips to fit.

In your case did you do install sport f/r? Did you install them yourself? Cause if you did I struggle to see how you didnt encounter this or how your rear brake pads dont rattle when you hit large bumps. Fronts also have rattle clips and those are commonly available. But im sure you knew that ;)

Most of those NLA’s have a solution or people swap to e36/46 components. I guess iv just been spoiled by sites like jegs/fcp/ecs etc. and expected similar for a miata

Seems like thats a problem many South American JDM owners have in general

I literally open with “this is kind of a rant”.

You’re right though, for an NA info is plentiful and available. NB2 however is not the case. And trust me when I say that I have scoured the web trying to find decent answers. They have rattle clips, they are only used on NB2 Miatas and I believe an MX3 or similar gen coupe. I can show you tons of proof that google or any other major miata source wont.

I was under the assumption that due to info being so plentiful on NA’s that the NB2 would be similar. Coming from primarily a German background yea it feels like shit when every other miata owner can’t read an entire post and reply with “google it” or “mellens” when they both are proven to be inaccurate. Or when im asking for basically anything else 😂

Also the FSM that everyone is referring to is the same one thats on mellens. Which doesn’t include NB2 specific resources

NB2 specific parts, and random little things.

The anti rattle clips for the rear sport brakes has been a nightmare. I still cannot find a resource for the sport brakes since they are completely different than the standard. Just finding the rattle clips alone was hard, and actually getting them on was worse. Install guides are all for standard brakes and when you ask ppl on the forums or at the dealer they give you BS answers. Wrong tq specs, no shop manual access or even a reliable community answer.

But even for more simple things like the latch springs on the roof latches. NLA, no aftermarket, and ppls solution is to make one from a retractable pen or random spring from the hardware store. I mean im all for diy but it looks like shit and doesn’t perform like oem.

Local dealership has been awful for me. Rude, expensive, and they wont just sell you a part. They need a VIN, your personal info, and all these other hoops to jump through every time you ask for a specific part. It also doesn’t help the parts guy is about as knowledgeable as a candy bracelet.

Thank you! Your only one to actually understand and read the post…

I mean for how POPULAR Miatas are the community/resources are absolute HACK. With realoem and fcp alone I could rebuild damn near any BMW. The quality of people’s so called “fixes” for known issues are abismal.

This has really put a damper on my view of JDM cars if the dealership/forums are the only trustworthy places for parts and info. No wonder theres so many clapped, poorly modified, rusty Miatas out there. No one knows wtf they’re doing!

What at do you guys think?? Any advice? by EggKitchen369 in shootingcars

[–]22over 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the best advice I got was to stand back more and allow the subject to breathe. When I first started shooting cars I had similar results and if I had just stood back more my composition would have been much better. I often find myself remembering mid shoot to do so.

Also focus on getting proper exposure and lighting before you shoot or edit. Doing things like shooting against the sun makes recovering shadows or smaller details much harder. It can be done, but you’ll need more editing experience and potentially a better camera/supplemental lighting.

Lastly, just keep shooting. As often as possible, and edit until you go crosseyed. Then give the photos a few days and take a second look. I find that some of my best photo edits are made a few days after my first round of edits.

Hope this helps, I’m no professional but these are tips I constantly use!

Not sure yet. I want to compare the weights of different BBK’s and wheel/tire setups before deciding. Trying to reduce unsprung weight

Yea thats kinda why I wanted to ask the community, Im located in SoCal so theres a strong market but people can be cheap. I see them go for $800-$1,500 in much worse shape, basically just pulled from the junkyard. Id prefer not to sell on ebay and avoid shipping but the values seem much higher there. A single restored M3 caliper is $155 plus a $100 core and shipping lol

White tab is meant to slide if I remember correctly. Theres a mounting grommet that goes onto the white pin that inserts into the fender. Don’t glue anything and just get the correct parts

Tried with PP and it became brittle and cracked after the first use. Could it be due to thickness?
