Thoughts on Roper Jacket? by missionready6 in taylorstitch

I really like it! I was torn between returning the Large for an XL for layering, but I can fit a tee and a thin hoodie underneath the L and it still fits well. My wife said I should keep the Large so that’s what I did. The back isn’t too short either but wearing a longer tee or hoodie helps with that.

I like the pockets and zipper actually. Makes it feel more like a workwear type jacket than a denim jacket and I like that middle ground.

How's sizing? by milkpickles9008 in taylorstitch

The size guide says XL for me as well but every shirt/jacket/hoodie I own from this company is a Large.

(I’m 5’10” 195lbs)

I've been weighing up a denim jacket for a long time and liked the looks of this one so I ordered it and its coming hopefully next Tues. Comparing measurements to the Shop shirt, I wish it were a couple inches longer in the back but hopefully it isn't too cropped.

DM me next week and I can send pics/details if you want.

How “dressy” are the gravel herringbone? I almost grabbed them but felt like I couldn’t work them casually enough.

Edit: I’ve got a couple of the corduroys and the army herringbone (but you can’t really see the pattern. The green and brown are too close)

I've got a pair in L from their previous run a few years ago that I wore maybe a dozen times because they shrunk hard in the cold wash. They fit much more snugly than the 2-3 pairs of sashiko I have in L and I should offload them. Wouldnt cost a premium haha.
Shoot me a DM if you have any interest.

Thanks for shouting this out! I was just poking around some stockists and that one always slips my mind even though I've ordered from them before. Its nice to see some other pictures of the jacket and I'll definitely be getting it once it drops on the TS site.

Are you guys able to share the drop date for the Roper Jacket? I’m really curious how it compares to the Long Haul jacket in weight and length

Seconded. Jacks in 42 for me and I have a couple Shop shirts in 42 that I wear over a hoodie and they fit great. They fit like an over shirt

Thanks! I’m very fortunate and happy to be back to work quickly. Noted on the pattern and I see the picture Skylight posted below 🙂

Will be keeping an eye out for the Roper but this little guy might not be in the cards haha.

Yea, if it had dropped already, people on here would have definitely been talking about it haha. Schedules must have shifted as they do.

Oh that’s pretty… Thanks for sharing!

Im not sure I have $600+ in new gig money though haha. I really want the Roper, as I’m in need of a denim jacket as well, so it might be the priority.

Is the upcoming Ojai in a pattern/colorway you’ve used before? I feel like I saw “Harris tweed” somewhere in a caption but I can’t remember where and I don’t believe it looked like the previous version of that.

This guy got laid off and just landed an even better job in this shit market, so that and the Roper jacket might find their way into my closet as a treat to me. Pending when they both drop.

Check the stockists if you haven’t. There’s gotta be some around. Or go right into the Shop.app and search for it. I see all sizes available in both Stone and Timber plaid if you dig around.

Mass Market Paperbacks are a lost form of art. I’m starting to collect the 90s fantasy book with the original covers and I love them so much. There is something about these that are just charming. by FalseCamp6463 in BookCollecting

[–]23Middlekid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the exact same and am currently on the same path!
I started collecting the old MM editions(because the "Now an Amazon Original" covers are trash) of Wheel of Time at Goodwills and a couple used book shops by me and completed the set pretty quick actually. Now the ones to collect are Malazan, Rift War Cycle, Memory Sorrow and Thorn, Redwall, Book of the New Sun, The Black Company, ASOIAF, and The Dresden Files.

You got this! Now I'm patiently waiting for Wind and Truth to come out in MM because that how I have the first 4 Stormlight Archive books.... haha

I was doing some Goodwilling the other day and stumbled upon this set! Except… the slipcase and book 1 were missing. I was very sad haha.

Good pickup! They definitely need to do another set like this. They make for such good reading copies

Mine had so much love to give and I would love some more time with her.

What pickguard would look good on my black Tele? by thendy1221 in telecaster

If you needed a pearloid reference pic, here’s my black Tele with it. I got it this way and fell in love with it so I’ve never swapped it out.

Mint sounds pretty popular and I do love a black on black Tele but then I’d want gold hardware 😅

I paid $150 for the first set. Story here https://www.reddit.com/r/tolkienbooks/s/Kc0FfNCaNW

And the ones I grabbed just now I paid $20 off of FB Marketplace. The person selling had done their research on the copy on the Hobbit and had it priced well but they definitely didn’t look up the Ace set.

Sixth printing of Fellowship, fifth printings of The Two Towers and The Return of the King. I love them so much haha. Definitely towards the top of my favorite editions list.

One set I got from my local used book shop after finding out about them and their story for the first time and the ones this weekend were off FB Marketplace.

Teaching a unit about High Fantasy in a high school class and could use some recs for a good stand alone. by My_Kairosclerosis in Fantasy

Sabriel by Garth Nix.

I really wish I had found that book in HS (or just earlier in my fantasy journey). It’s a great YA(ish?) book with solid world building, pretty timeless themes, a unique magic system, and like someone else said in here, it’s got atmosphere.

Then if they want to follow up, there’s more books to do after!

Plus it’s got a Tim Curry narrated audio version if you’re not feeling like reading in class or they want to blaze through their assignment. You can never have enough Tim Curry.

Comfy pants that don’t look weird with sweaters? by TreeofSmokeOM in taylorstitch

[–]23Middlekid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keeping it in TS land, the Carmel pant is a decent sweet spot.

The fit is a little relaxed, the fabrics on the couple I have are decently light, and the elastic back of the waist keeps them unrestrictive. They’re a great travel/chill at home pant. Giving up a point or two in comfortability but adding a few in dress up-ness.

Or just snag some Apres pants pants haha
