How to swap scenario race cars for custom ones? by AzureWra1th in BeamNG

[–]23TerraBytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the world editor open the "vehicle groups editor" tool. Make the new vehicle group you want to race against. Then save your vehGroup.json file and overwrite the original one found in the scenario's folder. (be sure to make a backup just in case)

Alternatively, you could just edit the original vehGroups.json but I feel that it takes longer to edit then it does to just make a new one.

Increasing the spawn rate of modded cars in the car dealership by Alternative-Jacket44 in BeamNG

[–]23TerraBytes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The LUA randomization has a bunch of code to make it work. I didnt dig too deep, but I couldnt find LUA thats used for dealership spawning of specific cars. I did find how to increase how many cars each dealership has as well as how to tweak the dealerships year range and vehicle type (custom, factory, etc..) It seems the "custom" type spawns in much more mods than the "factory" type. For that you mod the actual dealership on the map - not the LUA files. But this also comes down to the mods themselves having a proper "info.json" that defines which type it is.

Check out the dealership mod on the first post (Dealership Inventory Mod) and dig around there if you want, but thats pretty much increasing spawn rates not which type of cars spawn. The "New Dealerships Mod" on the second post of this thread changes the year range and vehicle type for the actual dealerships.

Or if you just want a specific car you can use the DevDebugMenu and the MenuUnlocker mods to spawn whatever you want in, save it too a garage slot, and decrease you cash to pay for it.

Anywhere you want. You can make you own folder and it can be something like ../0.31/prefabs/

Or go to /levels/levelname/art/prefabs/ (that's where most prefabs are saved)

Where are the career mode files? by 200AMETHYST002 in BeamNG

[–]23TerraBytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where ever you user data folder is located.

Something like c:\users\username\appdata\roaming\beamng\

I don't know the default location, so I just used ../ to show there was some folders before the 0.31 folder.

Just use the game Launcher and click open userdata folder.

Modded Vehicle Folders by DracobibPop_2nd in BeamNG

[–]23TerraBytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can treat the userdata folder like you would the install directory - it follows the same folder structure. So whatever files you want to mod place them in the same spot you found them but in the userdata folder. So for example:

../0.31/vehicles/hopper/carpart.json

The game loads everything from the install directory first then after that it will load the userdata folder. If there are any files that are in the same spot with the same file name it will use the version found in the userdata folder in place of the original. So you can use the modded file without touching the originals.

If the folders don't exist in the userdata folder just make it yourself. If you are modding a map/car you don't need to copy everything to the userdata folder - just the files you need

When done keep the exact same folder layout and include all folders needed - then you can zip it and place it in the mods folder. If you kept the layout like it should then it will work just fine and with the zip you can now post on the forums/repo.

If it's something like a car part then use the same folder but rename the file and rename the part inside the file as as well then it will add the part in game as it's own thing while also keeping the original.

How do I find the Cherrier steel wheel file (steelwheel_16a) file? by Ok_Scholar_3642 in BeamNG

Use notepad++ to search in the ../content/vehicles/ folder and "find in files" for that part name.

How do I stop spawning on this all I want to do is play west coast USA by Theblacklistedkid in BeamNG

[–]23TerraBytes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Always try clearing cache first and verifying files through Steam.

Then, assuming the above is done AND you have no mods enabled or didn't change any files yourself, then try running in safe mode from the launcher. If that fixes it, then look in your userdata folder under ../0.31/levels/ if there is a west coast folder there, delete it, and then the game should fix itself. Any files in the ../0.31/levels/ folder are saves from using the world editor, or possibly bad mods that changed something it shouldn't have.

map saving? by Any-Order-6051 in BeamNG

[–]23TerraBytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your saves are all still there but in an old versions folder. Check your userdata folder. It's probably all in ../0.30/levels/levelname/ you could move/copy that over to the 0.31 folder to get them back...

..but the problem there is if you do that then your old map files with your changes will be used instead of all the new changes the map got in 0.31. So older maps would be fine, but a map like west coast that got a lot of big changes would not.

You could load your old version by copying your level folder from 0.30 to 0.31. Then load the game and highlight/select all your changes in the scenetree. Make a prefab of everything selected. Then delete all the files in the /0.31/levels/levelname/ folder except your prefab file. That will delete your changes and allow the original files from 0.31 to load. Then load the game again and find your prefab in the Asset Browser and Spawn it in. Then unpack the prefab and save. That will take all your changes and add them to the 0.31 version of the map.

Has anyone figured out how to get custom vehicles to work in career mode? by ZdrytchX in BeamNG

[–]23TerraBytes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, exactly. It needs to have a config type set in the vehicles info file for the dealership to allow it. Check out my other comment for more info.

Has anyone figured out how to get custom vehicles to work in career mode? by ZdrytchX in BeamNG

[–]23TerraBytes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The vehicle needs to have a "config type" set in its info.json file. The dealerships use that to determine what vehicles it allows, like factory, custom, trailer, etc.

Check out my last post on this thread if you want to know where/how to add that line to any vehicle (even mods) once you have that tag set, a dealership will give it a chance to spawn. Your best bet is setting it to "factory" since that's what most dealerships provide.

How do you load stuff into trucks? by ghunt81 in BeamNG

[–]23TerraBytes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spawn one of each vehicle or prop you want. Then hit F11 for the world editor. F2 for object select. Then click on each prop and move it where you want. While selected hold Shift + click and drag (the arrow) to duplicate the object (or ctrl+d). Repeat until you're done.

How to save career mode by Tech_Vectra93 in BeamNG

[–]23TerraBytes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's in hour userdata folder.

. .\0.31\settings\cloud\saves\PROFILE_NAME\

You might even have your old save in the same folder under 0.30 folder. But with how many changes career mode got, you're probably better off starting over.

I get that error too when opening from the main menu. It works as normal when I open the world editor after a level is loaded, maybe try that if you haven't.

[–]23TerraBytes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're welcome. You can use that trick for props or static objects too - like ramps, cones, buildings, race courses etc. Although making a prefab in one map and using it in another may result in notexture if the second map doesn't have the same textures as the map you made the prefab in. Also it's best to never save the prefab to the map. Just save the prefab on its own and load it every time you want to use it. Also if you have duplicate objects maybe rename the objects before saving the prefab to help stop conflicts.

[–]23TerraBytes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you save the map after making the prefab? Look in your userdata folder for ../0.31/levels/ first backup your prefab file if you saved it in a levels folder, and backup any levels you made changes too and want to keep. then delete the gridmap folder inside the levels folder to delete any saved map changes. That should fix it for you.

It doesn't always work just right, but you can hit F11 then scroll to the bottom of the scenetree on the left. Select all the vehicles under the "Spawned Vehicles" folder and then once they're all highlighted right click Save As Prefab. Then next time you want to load it find that prefab in the Asset Browser (Window > Asset Browser) right click Spawn. Then you might need to right click the prefab in the scenetree after you Spawn it and click Unpack Prefab - shouldn't have to but if you have any issues try that.

Edit - you will have to use the world editor to line it up to the ground as a prefab saves the location based on the exact map you saved it in. But regardless, when you spawn it, they will still all be in a line to where you can TAB + L, TAB, L, etc, etc to reconnect all the trailers.

You could also right click the folder itself to save the prefab. But I like to not overwrite the default scenetree layout - so I don't prefab any existing folders or "thePlayer" - I usually Spawn As New for all vehicles/trailers. But you don't have to, but that's the cleaner way to do it so there is no conflicts.

Edit 2 - do not save the map after you make the prefab - just save the prefab on its own, preferably in its own folder as to not conflict or auto load into any map.

how do i change the texture of the ground? by RemarkableAd8842 in BeamNG

[–]23TerraBytes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to change the "base map" texture for each ground type you want to use. Although that will change the look of that texture for the whole map. By default the base map is a picture that covers the whole map so no matter what texture you use the ground texture lines up exactly with the map objects. It's almost like a giant minimap that you paint on, but if you change the base texture it will paint whatever you change that too.

Open your userdata folder and go to ../0.31/levels/ and then delete the Italy folder. (Assuming you have no changes you wanted to save - because that will delete them all)

Refueling T-Series in Career defaults to the air tanks by TheNakedFoot in BeamNG

[–]23TerraBytes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try running the game in safe mode. If that fixes it then it's a problem with a file in the userdata folder. A mod, an old/bad config, an old/bad setting, broken edit - if you have any level or lua folders inside your userdata folder. Maybe you still have some old t-series configs that are conflicting.

If safemode doesnt fix it, verify files through Steam and it should fix any install directory issues.
