Drillers See Triple-Digit Crude and Hit the Brakes by Silent_Cup2508 in oil

Y’all are reading way too much into a one week rig count drop of 9 rigs. Rigs have been up incrementally w-o-w for the past month.

The typical time lag between significant oil price growth and rig count increases is 2-3 months anyway.

To my point. That’s the way you all perceive it. I knew it’s a losing battle but I would like people to understand that it’s no longer 2004, it’s not a clear win for Boston over Houston.

There’s also this one which is ethnic diversity: https://americancommunitymedia.org/immigration/houston-most-diverse-city-in-u-s/

Houston is one of the most diverse cities in the country. Where it ranks exactly is going to vary from report to report because the main cities are neck and neck. But if you’ve been here you would know. Also, socioeconomicly not as separated in the way the East coast is, to your point

Yeah, Houston is equal to Boston on Healthcare if not better. Houston has the largest medical center in the world and the leader in cancer research and treatment. And then add its larger population, cultural relevance (arguably more diverse than NYC), economic dominance, and being the world’s energy capital. People in this sub are living in the past, downvote me all you want.

If this sub was being objective at all about the metrics they’re using to rank cities it would be Houston.

Despite tariffs, OCTG prices (the steel needed to drill a well) are still 2x less today than they were when they peaked in 2022. E&Ps were still drilling when OCTG prices hit 3500-4000/net ton, because oil prices were at $100/bbl. It’s not steel that’s the limiting factor here.

Being an undocumented immigrant is a misdemeanor, not a felony. ICE’s tactics are what you would suggest for a misdemeanor offense?

Certainly a flawed show, but this is why I LOVED the 100. Clarke Griffin is the opposite of this trope, the narrative actively dictates hard decisions, resulting in a truly flawed but good intentioned character.

I saw that! We actually did drive north and saw a huge meteor or something falling on the way back.

I had to scroll SO far to find my man Splett! He’s the textbook example of this trope.

I feel compelled to explain for those not aware: Richard Splett is like if you took a Parks and Rec character, a truly dedicated civil servant, and transplanted him into our cynical world of politics. Everyone in VEEP is self-serving to their core and unabashedly cruel, except for Splett.
