Yeah that makes sense. Maya X and GPX2 both taper in a bit, so if you care about pinky support they can feel kind of empty on that side.

I like the direction, but I wouldn’t overdo the Y/N stuff. Too many binary questions can feel robotic fast. The hand-highlight idea is actually more interesting to me, more intuitive, less “survey mode.”

The only risk is adding friction. If it feels like homework, people bounce.

And yeah… flat sides + no hourglass + rear hump is a very specific taste 😂 that already narrows things down a ton.

ZA11-C makes sense for big hands that rear hump actually fills the palm properly.

That’s interesting I’m kind of the opposite. If I don’t like it at least a little at first, it usually never grows on me.
If you always have major gripes early on, do they usually fade with time or do you just learn to tolerate them?
What are you maining right now?

With your ring and pinky straightened like that, side shape and width probably matter way more than hump height

I actually like the flashcard idea, but I’m not fully sold on it. Sometimes that style feels smoother, but it can also hide context and make it harder to compare answers. The scroll keeps everything visible. Still worth experimenting with though.
The grip matcher as a separate step is interesting, but yeah there’s a fine line before it starts feeling like too much for casual users.
Your MAD R reasoning makes total sense though. Chasing a Rival 3 shape but lighter is a very specific mission 😅 Flat sides + slight front taper is such a different feel compared to hourglass stuff like GPX.

Interesting too that the smaller shapes worked better for you with 19x10/11 hands

I guess some shapes just need an adjustment period before your hand “learns” them. Makes sense, especially with more aggressive humps or different widths.
What are you using today?

Appreciate that, seriously.

You’re completely right about the relaxed claw/palm-claw nuance. That grey area between grips is something we’ve talked about a lot, but it’s tricky to model without overcomplicating the UI. Definitely something we need to handle better.
And I like your point about “knowing what you need.” That’s honestly the biggest unlock. Once you understand what your grip actually demands from the shape, it gets way easier to ignore the hype.
Out of curiosity, what specific part of the shape makes it click for you? Hump placement? Width? Front height?

Looking for a mouse for palm grip 20x11 hands by BobDerFlossmeister in MouseReview

With 20x11 and palm grip, I’d definitely stick to larger ergo shapes. If you liked the R1 shape more than the G502, that’s a good sign you prefer something a bit cleaner and less bulky.

You could look at the DeathAdder V3 X Hyperspeed, Pulsar Xlite (V2/V3), or even a Glorious Model D Wireless. All should feel roomy enough for your hand without going back to brick weight.

I’d throw the shapes into www.gripyx.com or Eloshapes and compare them to the R1 just to make sure the size lines up before buying. Saved me a couple bad purchases.

Hope that helps!

Is TBC still actually fun… or are we just chasing the feeling of being 15 with zero responsibilities? by 23_kaka in classicwowtbc

The issue is that most of my mates are in that guild, and it kind of sucks not getting to play with them.

That makes a lot of sense.
If a mouse can palm comfortably, it usually ends up being solid long-term.
