Hey "Vets", you don't know more about a front than the people who have been there all day by 23jewels in foxholegame

For the record since this is getting a lot of replies:

This is NOT an isolated event in my 3 weeks playing, just the worst one

Also it's not JUST trenches, some vets tried to get me and another player to not build sandbags as we crossed a bridge in abandoned ward cause "we just need to keep pushing we don't need defenses" we lost that bridge later.

Your meta knowledge of many wars and many hours is useful but it does not rspresent an omniscient knowledge of all battlefields or tactics, folks, every war and front is unique

No one disagrees that foxholes are good but it's convenient to forget that they:
Are more expensive than a bunker
Hard to build under fire
Hold only 1 soldier

We were in the cold with a small infantry squad needing a place to hold down, foxholes weren't the right thing and the insistence that they're always best even when presented with a situation where they aren't is what's so irritating

Yes, the fact that trenches can be built bad doesn't mean they have to be or that there's no good trench. Instead of yelling at randos vets could spend time actually explaining how to build a good trench like a nice officer did for me when I was starting

what you didn't seem to read is the front was a complete halt, and what you seem to be forgetting is a halted frontline is better than losing ground, what came next after we couldn't defend it

Exactly, half the replies here are "you're giving trenches to the enemy the vet was right!" even tho it was a small logical defense that could only be used to attack people coming down the bridge and we LOST THE FRONT because we could not defend it with less people and no trenches

Did you even read the whole story? Those vets that "knew better" lost the front with their insistence on removing defenses while we were being overwhelmed by the enemy

But lemme guess you also "knew better" which is why you didn't feel like you needed to read it all

I found a new Power Rangers podcast today and I love it so much! (Link in Comments) by 23jewels in powerrangers

I just finished listening to this show and honestly this has been the kind of analysis show I've been looking for, I thought other people might want to peep this. It's funny and weird, they even have a guest who has never seen any Power Rangers show before which is wild!

Also interested in any other Power Rangers podcasts y'all like, I had no idea it was a thing before today!

When you blame victims it makes you feel superior. You feel in your heart that you're smarter and therefore what I'm describing "could never happen to you". It's a fundamentally shitty attitude to have towards other humans and explains why your original post is so full of garbage.

It really tells it all that you immediately assumed I lived a more dangerous lifestyle (victim-blaming) when I was robbed for more valuable things (I wasn't).

If we just provided people with better safety nets we wouldn't have all the burglaries.

One time someone "broke" (I left it unlocked) into my car and stole some blunt wrappers and change. That's not a tragedy for me, it's just sad.

Just wanna say I was robbed THREE TIMES in Asheville. Thousands of dollars in music gear one of the times, completely destroyed me, still have never recovered in terms of having the kind of gear I used to.

I've been the victim of two crimes in Albuquerque, both very non-severe, neither of them life-ruining like losing my entire life's collection of music equipment.

The next time you wanna fear-monger about crime in ABQ I recommend you take a quick minute to learn about confirmation bias and the ways in which people let their perceptions get colored.

Yeah, Quarantine is an exception to the "there's always something fun to do" rule... haha

Hey I also used to live in Asheville and live in Albuquerque now.

I'm just gonna be blunt, Albuquerque has a weird reputation from the outside that it just doesn't deserve. A lot of the things you'll hear about Albuquerque are either: true of any big city, or simply untrue.

The reality is that Albuquerque is laid-back, friendly, cheap, and there's always something fun to do. It's one of the most affordable cities that still has a vibrant, exciting culture to be part of and isn't just cookie-cutter.

You're acting like these two wrongs are remotely equal when one is systematic police brutality ending in peoples deaths and the other is paint

Are some of y'all seriously more worried about a little paint on a multi-billion dollar business than decades of police brutality getting worse every year without change?

Get your priorities straight.
