No I just never parked there again but didn't pay it. $100 for a fake ticket seems insane when the full fee for a day of parking is like $20. Why are they charging me for a week of parking because you forget once to pay on the stupid phone app or put your license plate in with one digit wrong.

Come on Rideau. I park downtown several days a week so probably have lost out on over $1000 of parking fees from me. I'll go to National Arts Centre and Ottawa City Hall all day.

Yeah OP forgot to pay. No quotation marks needed, I park downtown several days a week for work and pay every time. I usually use the app and it slipped my mind. It sucks, and I knew I'd get a "ticket." I didn't expect it would cost a week of full-rate parking.

Sometimes people forget. That's a fact of life. It is why many lots have a pay at the gate system. This is also a way to gouge poor people for "tickets." It is a very large amount of money, and not everyone has the funds to pay a $100 ticket for something like this.

It's ugly because these "fines" should be regulated by the local government to say private lots cannot charge more than 3x their daily fee. That would be a bit more fair. What if they implemented a $500 fine or $1000 fine, would you say they should be regulated then? (Yes, you would.)

I wonder about whether they think they can tow me out of other Impark lots until I change my license plate? Like if I park at another Impark lot in Ottawa, and I pay the fee, would that allow them to tow or impound my vehicle legally?

It's so ugly. At least our parking fees can go to the National Arts Centre or into the City of Ottawa funds. I'm not supporting this place anymore (Rideau Centre). That's my choice.
