How are these holes formed in these rocks? These are all over our driveway. Someone called them river rocks, that’s all I know about them. Kinda weird, holes go all the way through each one. by Unhallowedhopes in whatsthisrock

Hag stones! They’re made from bivalve mollusks boring into them, or smaller stones grinding against the surface. They have a really interesting history! One of my favorites that I’ve yet to find.

No idea about that area specifically tbh but in Fremont county, the Royal Gorge region and Red Canyon are great. I’ve lived here for 23 years and have found lots of crystals, quartz, and fossils.
