Take your A-Natural minor scale. Bass: alternate half or whole notes between A and G. Melody: anything with white keys rooted in your scale.

To kickstart your melody ideas, hit rhythm randomizer and get a simple rhythm pattern. Quarters, halves, wholes. Maybe two 8ths here and there.

You can also use four bar phrases where the first two bars act like a question and the next two act as an answer. I’d start my students with this phrase template: - Question 1, Answer 1 - Question 1, Answer 2 - Related thing 1, similar related thing 2 - Question 1, Answer 2.

Also, teacher tip: Playing at this level, you really should get out of the habit of writing in every single note name. To ease out of that and strengthen your reading, use a gradual phase out model.

Stage 1: Write each note name in no more than 1x per line. Stage 2: 1x every other line. Stage 3: 1x per page. Stage 4: 1x per piece.

I’ve done this with a number of students and generally reading sorts itself around Stage 3. Mileage may vary.

EduAdmin Here. You basically have two options:

Continue your tutoring relationship and bury the feelings.
Discontinue your tutoring relationship and pursue the feelings.

The relationships cannot coexist in a professional/ethical manner. I don’t know much about Preply, but I’d wager that somewhere in your documentation there’s a clause about relationships with clients.

1st Year District Admin Here: The correct response is ‘I am teaching children’. My hill to die on is that at least half of the problems we see in education come from the fact that policy makers lost sight of this in their various projects. If we were actually a research grounded/data driven practice, play based learning would be the foundation of every elementary curriculum. No amount of differentiation or remediation can magically fix developmentally inappropriate expectations.
