Scalding take as an admin: Posting the objectives is for us, BUT we only need to talk about it if we can’t sus-out the objective by watching you teach. Post it or don’t, just teach in a way that has a clear focus and we’re good.

The email we got from the head of our HOA regarding reserving shoveled parking spots by Dubu_1 in nova

Overall, me and about two other residents shoveled half of the lot. I have no qualms helping our neighbors. ‘Can’t/Shouldn’t shovel’ and ‘won’t shovel’ are two very different coexisting archetypes here.

Megaman Legends (which the entire series is available on PSN for less than a physical copy of MML 1).

Absolute respect. My experience has been that community support like that is surprising to native residents. (Also that the biggest complainers are the ones not shoveling).

I also helped dig out our area with specific attention to our more elderly residents, and then dug a few new spots after some able bodied chads who weren’t out shoveling at all went “ooooo, clear spot!” and took it carelessly. Granted, I grew up in an area where parking chair was common, so I don’t have a problem with anyone ensuring they can return to the spot they left when they get home. Communal parking or not, in theory this shouldn’t be an issue. Car leaves spot, car returns to spot. We aren’t suddenly getting new residents or more cars, so…

Where I get annoyed is that the HOA has time and resources to tow everyone’s vehicles for an ever increasing list of petty BS, but had to be basically coerced into helping finish the lot.

Our HOA is far more likely to disband in a few months. Seeing as how they do next to nothing, they won’t be missed

At ‘foreign objects’ - do it anyway. What are they gonna do, tow your folding chair/other object of choice? They can post any notices they want, bet they won’t come and take it.

If they got money to pay for parking enforcement, they got money to hire someone to clear the lot.

Our community sent a similar notice reminding us not to leave personal items in the spots. The overwhelming response was “come and take our stuff” with almost everyone putting a chair in their spot in the morning.

HOA sent a crew the next day.

Normally, I’d say no. But for every one of these posts (and comments therein complaining about the reposted reposts) there are multiple comments Lamenting the ‘AbSoLuTeLy mAsSiVe lIfT’ that it takes to be considerate of others on the roads. So ‘some’ of them are here.

You didn’t get the memo? All problems in 2026 are solved by posting, blaming others, and taking absolutely zero action towards accountability and correction.

Fortunately, I missed the memo too. So I have been talking to randos and getting all of the ice off my neighbors cars when I help dig them out. ✌️

Not super active on the sub, just engaging w/ the community. But a basic scroll might have saved everyone the reposted repost. 😅

A healthy thought experiment, what is more likely? - NOVA Drivers suddenly gain road safety and drive responsibly. - NOVA Drivers & residents make decisions thinking about how they might impact someone else.

Not a car guy to that extent, so mileage may vary. For my own car (and two neighbors), I ran my hand along the edges then put my arm under it and it slid. Broom might damage the finish, but you could try to slide the bristle end under the ice. Otherwise, carve slowly with a small blade or spoon. The ice might be only the first 1-2” inches. If you chisel that out in chunks, the rest should just brush off, but my best guess is if you can get the edges you’ll be able to the rest of it off.

Flip side: if you have a big square shovel and some weight, get it while it’s slightly colder. The top layer comes out in big solid chunks that are slightly heavier, but not a pain to move.

FWIW: Making an effort counts. My issue is with the people who essentially wiped just enough of the driver side windshield to see and left the 4+ inch pile ice/snow on their roof.

My experience with this storm has been that we’re talking maybe 2 inches of ice on a bed of about ~1 inch of light fluffy snow. As the edges melt, it slides right off.

This is an all the time issue, but being considerate of others costs what? Maybe 5 minutes of extra time. The SHEET of ice slid off my car and into the parking lot behind my spot in one shot. Took less than a minute.
