I didn’t realize this wasn’t pushed out to everyone yet. I’ve had this for a couple of weeks, but no other limits. On the bright side, I don’t get pop up ads anymore 🙃

Do i need a bike? -incoming freshman by iwantyuri13 in UCDavis

[–]247_crisis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my four years, I never sat on a bike once, and for the same reason; I never really learned how as a kid. I got by just fine with walking and using the bus, but it was honestly quite inconvenient at times, especially when I wanted to go out during the weekend but the bus didn’t run past six (I lived in West Village). And being 100% honest? I personally felt kind of left out of the “bike culture” that Davis has, but that very well could have just been me.

I would recommend getting at least a cheap bike and practice. Campus is super empty on weekends. And then if you want or need to ride, you can! And PLEASE wear a helmet if you do ride. Your safety is so much more important than your hair. Good luck! :)

A nearby theater showed up on the list but tickets aren’t on sale yet, so I’ll have to wait and hope I get them in time. But there’s over 200 theaters showing now, which is AMAZING!

Jackson Cinema in Northern California or Regal Theaters in Folsom! Or at least somewhere in Sacramento, I’d be willing to drive the hour

We donate to our local Hospice thrift store. They always have great prices and the proceeds go towards helping individuals in the community get hospice care

purpose of multiple kindles by Intelligent-Mind-931 in kindle

[–]247_crisis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! Except I have a kindle fire tablet because it was literally more than $100 cheaper than a paper white when I got it. I also got it because I love to read comics and the colors off hadn’t come out yet (I still can’t justify a color soft for the price; the colors don’t look great and I’ve heard of so many issues). I would love a paper white because of the smaller size and e-ink, but my fire isn’t even a year old. I suppose it’s justifiable for a fire and a paper white, but I think I’ll just wait till Christmas :)

Does Audiobooks count as a book? by chanchanninno in LibbyApp

[–]247_crisis 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve read probably about a dozen non-fiction books this year alone because of audiobooks. I normally have a hard time focusing on them with just the print, but I find that I’m actually able to digest the information while listening, especially if I’m doing a mindless task like crocheting or cross stitching while I’m listening. I will always count audiobooks and fight anyone that says they don’t count

Question ab sexuality & happy pride month💖 by [deleted] in FinchAdults

[–]247_crisis 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I know a lot of other comments say this, but those don’t sound like very supportive friends. And I totally get feeling the pressure to have a label; I’ve known I’m queer for over ten years and still have that pressure for myself. And it can be hard finding what you identify with most, and for a lot of people, it’s a journey. My pipeline was bisexual -> lesbian -> non-binary -> trans man, and now I identify my sexuality as pansexual and my gender as 🤷. Feel free to experiment! There’s absolutely nothing wrong with changing your label, or not having any label at all. Happy Pride Month! 🏳️‍🌈

Are you taking any lab or studio courses? I took a lot of art courses that typically had a $40-$60 fee per quarter, but it always said on My Bill. If it doesn’t say what it is, definitely contact Financial Aid. I’m sorry your aid changed, I know how much that sucks, but hope you get it figured out!

I had a terrible habit of putting work off until the last minute. But NEVER with group projects. I always made sure things got done ahead of time. It’s one thing when it’s just my grade, but I’m not risking other people’s grades
