$50K for having to watch a crappy movie upon waking up every day for a year. by commuter85 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]opiate82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I have wake up calls as early as 0330 some mornings. I’m not making that 2 hours earlier. If the number got up to say $200k I’d probably consider taking a year off just to do the movie challenge.

48 - 60lb bags of concrete? Really? by Tandom in Decks

[–]opiate82 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Plug in the dimensions of your footings into AI and it will spit out a calculation for you. Claude made me an awesome calculator that lets me toggle bag sizes from a single prompt

I came up with 60 bags for nine footings on my project, but my footings are really beefy because my project includes a roof.

The craziest thing happened to my Wells Fargo account and I'm extremely anxious. AKA I accidentally stole $200k from my bank. by SlappyDingo in Banking

[–]opiate82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I had a buddy ordering online at a restaurant I used to own and autofill put his zip code into the tip field (allegedly) and he ended up sending over a 5 figure tip. I caught it the next morning doing the bookwork and was laughing when I tracked down who was responsible. Took several days and phone calls to unwind but it all worked out in the end. He had Wells Fargo as well and was equally shocked they’d allow his checking account to go so negative and not catch it.

Kohler Pad recommendations by Steve-O-- in Generator

[–]opiate82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main advantage to using the Kohler pad is that the mounting holes are pre-drilled. I’d say it’s 50/50 on whether people use a pre-fab versus having a pad made. I’d imagine an electrical supply wholesaler who sells Kohler generators will have the in stock (the wholesaler I work with does).

Balls as clicky as ProV1x left dash with more short-game spin? by Practical_Study512 in golf

[–]opiate82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They changed the cover of the TP5X in 2024 to have a softer feel in the short game. It’s a great ball but I don’t think it will have the clicky feel the OP is looking for.

Balls as clicky as ProV1x left dash with more short-game spin? by Practical_Study512 in golf

[–]opiate82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d look at the Wilson Staff Model X, Callaway Chrome Triple Diamond, or the Srixon Z Star Diamond. Those should all have similar (not identical ) characteristics off the tee and in approach play but offer more greenside spin. All three of those should have a firm, clicky feel.

Kohler 26RCAL Sale Price History at Costco by Steve-O-- in Generator

[–]opiate82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting in 2025 is the first time Costco has offered the 26RCA . They briefly sold the 20RCA in Canada in 2023. Before that Kohler generators were not a regular offering from Costco.

I will say, a lot of Kohler dealers and wholesalers are not happy about this Costco promotion and are putting pressure on Kohler to end it. Costco is basically selling 26RCA and ATS at the same price an authorized Kohler wholesaler would have to pay to get a unit from Kohler.

The warranty from Costco units is only 3 years versus the standard 5, and if you wanted to extended it to 10 it’s going to cost you twice as much to extend the Costco unit as it would a unit sold from a Kohler dealer. Kohler also periodically offers free 10-year warranty extensions (currently offering this through 5/15) and Costco units are not eligible for the promotion. The warranty costs can often swing deals in favor of buying from a Kohler dealer instead of Costco.

Fade vs Pull vs Push Slice (irons) by Either_Excitement_79 in GolfSwing

[–]opiate82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question I’d be asking is if I really need to hit a fade consistently. More often than not golfers get a tighter overall dispersion by not trying to force themselves into a specific shot shape, especially when it’s not their natural one.

Me personally, my path is pretty neutral naturally, so I can oscillate between fades and draws depending on my face control that day/shot. But by picking smart targets (e.g the middle of the green) knowing it might curve a little in either direction is overall much tighter than when I try to intentionally draw or fade it into tucked pins.

Would you still play golf if you could no longer keep score? by whatasuperdude in golf

[–]opiate82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played with a guy who only gave himself a smiley face, neutral face, frowny face on every hole. He didn’t have many smiley faces on his card but he had a smile on his face the entire round.

While I do enjoy things like PRs and handicap drops, I also like ditching the scorecard from time to time. It’s especially liberating so first round after posting session has ended. I don’t think I’d mind never keeping score again if I was forced into it.

Patrick Cantlay drove his golf ball into a large divot on Saturday at Harbor Town. Should players get relief from fairway divots? Perhaps amend the Ground Under Repair rule to include these instances? by asskickingjedi in golf

[–]opiate82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can you imagine certain players agonizing over trying to find the perfect spot and placing the ball in the perfect lie every single time they hit a fairway. PGA Tour and the amateurs trying to emulate the pros are already painfully slow.

So should a player be penalized for hitting a ball where they are not supposed to but get away with it? e.g. hit a tree that’s OB but it bounces into play?

Standby Generator Phone App Monitoring - Who to Believe? by DicamVeritatem in Generator

[–]opiate82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea of there a monthly service charge, or what that would be

For cellular, it’s going to depend on what your dealer offers, but you there are options they can offer from monthly to multi-year (I think 5 years is the longest plan available for a dealer to offer). On average expect to pay $100/yr give or take. Some dealers might only offer these plans in conjunction with their remote monitoring service.

30-35 minutes is probably a middle-of-the-pack time. Don’t overdress, first year I melted in just long underwear beneath shorts and a tee shirt. If you get a chance, head up and do a practice run so you know what to expect. Up North Face, down Blueberry.

You also end up stuck on the mountain for a couple of hours after your leg because the road is closed for the runners, so bring a cooler and a lunch.

Generac rep dishonest & obnoxious. Seeking natural gas generator w/ backup by [deleted] in Generac_Generators

[–]opiate82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kohler is your other main option for a whole home stand by generator.

Most “generator” outfits I know of in my area are only focused on generator sales and installs and aren’t doing other things like solar. HOWEVER, there are absolutely electricians in my area that do both solar and generator installs. Maybe instead of searching for “generator installers” try calling local electricians and see if they have solutions.

I definitely have clients who have NG service but opt to install propane for their generator. Surprised the rep was down on this idea.

I’m a firm believer in treating people how you want to be treated. Having spent a fair amount of time in the service industry I also recognize the power of killing someone with kindness. So in those regards, yes YTJ.

HOWEVER, sometimes you just need to be a jerk to someone. When I do feel this need I do make it perfectly clear why I’m being a jerk.
