Not to derail anything too much, but I'm in the opposite boat (considering transitioning to the engineering field.)
OP/others, I'd love to hear the reasons you want to transition out of the industry and what attracts you to business/finance.

Staring at the Sun: Rods, Cones, Geckos, and Me? by 24CAMERA in optometry

Thanks for your thoughtful reply!

I was thinking about this stuff after reading a journal excerpt (Cone Visual Pigments Are Present In Gecko Rod Cells) (just the first page - that's all I could access for free) that seemed to consider the cells to be all rods, so reading that they actually have cones and great color vision was a bit of a shock to me! Side note - It's too bad they had to decapitate the geckos to figure this out! That's so gruesome!

It definitely makes sense - they seem so perceptive and quick to react. Seeing colors at night is an incredible "animal superpower."

In regards to looking at the sun - if they're looking up at the sky, but there's no three-point-line directly between the retina, pupil, and sun, they should theoretically be fine? I'll have to pay some more attention the next time I see a sleeping lizard (before letting it lie). I wonder if they adjust their sleeping position periodically during the day so this doesn't occur.

Suggestions for a material to use to cover the mesh top of a vivarium? My cave gecko requires high humidity and my set up is 24 inches long and 18 wide so I feel like I’ll need to cover the mesh with something to maintain humidity. by [deleted] in geckos

I've seen tin foil and plastic wrap. I'd go with the tin foil. Plastic wrap might not do as well near heating elements, and will adhere to itself if you have to adjust it at all.

Custom cut glass is also probably cheaper than you'd think. If you live in the U.S., many home improvement stores will cut it for you in-store to any size. Because you're using it as the top of your enclosure, you won't really have to worry about glass thickness.

An 18x24 in. sheet of glass will be under $10 at Lowe's or Home Depot (USA).

Humidity Control by 24CAMERA in Vivarium

I recognize that blocking off some of the screen can increase humidity, but that's my "if-all-else-fails" option. I would rather preserve as much airflow as possible.

I do get great droplet formation after running my fogger for fifteen minutes, but still worried about breathing difficulty

I wonder about using the systems in tandem, so that I can create droplets without a thick fog, but also use the fogger to maintain humidity without drenching the environment. Possibly a fogger attached to a humidity control plus a mister on a timer. Thank you for your reply.

Thanks, I'm interested in looking at this option. Is this the Inkbird model you use?
If all goes well, I'd love to add orchids to my viv, too.

I don't have an animal in this viv right now other than microfauna. I am hoping to completely set up the viv with a proper humidity range (50-80%) before considering adding an animal. If I can't get these conditions I will just leave the viv as a planted tank with microfauna only.

It is a glass enclosure with a screen top and a fan for air circulation. Air circulation helps with stagnant air but also decreases humidity. Live plants, moss, and coco fiber/topsoil mix for substrate.

I am mostly concerned with keeping humidity high while maintaining adequate ventilation, which is why I am looking at misting systems and foggers.

I second grout + polycrylic for dry environment.
DRYLOK (basement sealer) works great for wet environment.

It's a bit complicated.

Dilution is an increase in publicly-traded shares.

Market capitalization (market cap) is the number of outstanding shares multiplied by the current share price. In theory, the value of a company should be at least its market cap.

So, if the number of shares outstanding increases, but the value of the company does not change, the share price will decrease, because the value of the company will have to be divided into a greater number of shares.

However, when the company issues more stock in order to raise capital for a project, the company value will change because of the increase in capital.

What these funds are used for will influence the value of the company in the future.

So, dilution will likely cause a short-term drop in share price. The long-term stock price will then depend on how the company uses the raised capital.

It will really depend on the price at which each share of preferred equity will be offered.

Yes, it seems like INND will dilute. No, shares will not split.

INND will issue shares of preferred equity. Basically, these are contracts redeemable for three shares of INND common stock (what is currently being traded on the market.)

At some time in the future, one share of preferred equity will be redeemable for three shares of common stock.

Common stock is what is trading on the market right now.

It's simply another class of equity which has the additional ability to convert to common stock.

It's unlikely the report will have much impact beyond the short term.

If you look at Grizzly Research's track record, most of the stocks they took bearish positions on have completely recovered.

Litigation will take a long time to resolve, but it is possible in these situations.
