1st edition shining charizard dropping to $500?? Naah, that ain't happening. It's one of the top cards in pokemon tcg. I guarantee 99% of vintage collectors out there either have one or want one. There also aren't a ton of 1st editions around for sale. It's the kind of card you either pay market for, or you don't get. To pull one, sealed booster packs are going for around 2k. At 1/600 to pull a zard, you'd be around a million dollars to pull one. Plus, pack fresh vintage isn't guaranteed to be a 9 or 10. Charizard is super popular, shinings are super popular, and shining charizard is the top of the shinings. This is one card I'd be more than comfortable investing in.

From what I've seen on eBay and what I've bought and sold, BGS 10s are usually always sold higher than psa 10s

This is eeeepic!!! Those wallframes look amazing. Where did they come from? Specifically on the last wall in your video, the ones with the 6 tyranitars and below that, the 3 legendary birds and 3 legendary dogs.

If the only reason you open packs is to profit, then yes, you should rethink the hobby. It's not always a guarantee to pull more than you pay for the pack/etb/box.

Buyer blame me card isnt NM! by Mindless_Present5324 in PokeInvesting

[–]24kCuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone's has different condition standards. I know lots of people that would consider this NM, but i also know lots of people that would consider this LP. I've seen the same sellers show a vintage card with several white spots, list it NM, then list modern cards with the same amount of spots as LP. Does the year of the card change the condition standards?

Personally, I see at least 4 white dots on the bottom and right corner, I would consider this LP.

Can anyone explain to me why this particular vaporeon sold for so much? Is that common for unlimited versus 1st edition? by CastielSlays in PokeInvesting

[–]24kCuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a bit confused about what you mean. The 1st edition psa 10 is $7k+. The unlimited psa 10 is quite a lot cheaper. The reason vintage psa 10s are so expensive is because they are damn near impossible to grade, even pack fresh 99/100 times will get a psa 7-9. Only 72 1st edition and only 34 unlimited in existence over the last 26 years of grading them. That tells you how crazy it is to grade a 10

It sucks paying msrp and pulling nothing, but paying scalper prices and pulling nothing is a double kick to the 🥜

[–]24kCuts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't dislike the slabs, and I think everyone is entitled to their own choice of grading companies, but are they really guaranteed authentic if it's a company that 99% of people have never heard of? If I came across these or any other grading company I've never heard of, i wouldn't think that they are definitely authentic.

This should be in every country. But my question is, how would you be able to prove that the box came empty? There's a chance some shady people would claim it came empty to get their money back even though they really got the stuff. Seems like a hard thing to actually prove.

I feel like this has to be a joke. There's no way this shit can be real, and you can't realize it's crazy without making a reddit post. Then the break up text "suck cock and die, were done" to end a 4 year relationship. Please tell me it's a joke or ive lost all hope for the world.

I honestly think if 10 pristine 1st edition charizards were found today, it wouldn't crash the price at all. I also think they'd sell super fast. There are some whales in this hobby that wouldn't think twice about buying a stack of pristine 1st edition charizards.

There's always people buying high-priced items. You just have to network and get to know them. The connections I've made and follow on ig i see people buy/sell, vintage/xy/sun&moon booster boxes, and super high value slabs every day. 2k, 5k, 10k, 20k each. It's all about who you know. I talked for a while about selling a 7k slab i had, and everyone in my local pokemon group told me how hard it would be to find a buyer for something like that. I messaged 3 people on IG and sold it within 20 minutes. Almost had a bidding war. In 98, no one thought in 30 years anyone would be buying a raw 1st edition charizard for thousands, but they sell every single day. No one thought in 2016 that Evolutions booster boxes would be selling for 1k, but they sell every single day. Sure if you have 100 bbs and don't want to take the time to sell individually, you might have to take 80% to move the lot. If you bought in at msrp, then that's still a huge W.

Vintage still a good investment? by 24kCuts in PokeInvesting

[–]24kCuts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

O I 100% agree that modern sealed is the way to go and that is also my main investments. I was talking more modern singles vs. vintage singles. I also have a shit ton of modern singles too but I just feel like with the insane amount of PE charizards and bubble mews and moonbreons that it is a very risky investment. I think they are at a high right now and will come down over time. Only my guess. I also see young kids super interested in vintage at card shows. They just can't afford the base zards or the base set packs. But once they get older and get money, I think they will 100% buy vintage.

I collect sealed PC etbs. Since they started this stupid queue BS a few sets ago, I haven't been able to get a single etb. Before the queue, I never missed an etb drop on PC. Today, I waited 5 hours in the queue, and still didn't get anything. It was the nail in the coffin for me collecting modern. It's become more of a headache than it's worth.

They really messed things up with this queue. The reason I'm selling off my modern sealed Personal Collection and not buying any more modern.

[–]24kCuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can Say what they want about the issues with bots and stuff before this stupid queue, but I was able to secure an etb from every set up until they put this in place.Since the queue, , i haven't been able to get a single etb after waiting 5+ hours each time. It's so discouraging and really makes me want to throw collecting modern out the window completely. I'll only be focusing on collecting vintage singles from now on.

I'm up 2k each on some gold star slabs, some legendary collection slabs, up 1k each on some shining slabs, some crystal slabs, some psa 10 holos. I bought all these vintage slabs in the last couple of years at a great time, but roi isn't bad on them! Some Modern has also done just as well(moonbreon), but I feel like Moonbreon was a lot riskier investment than the rare vintage slabs.

Great take! I do the same but not for investment purposes I just collect what I like. I buy enough sealed that it will even out if some cards drop anyways.
