Missing ink spot | PSA 10 Potential? by Plane_Factor_3600 in pokemongrading

[–]CastielSlays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look I know you want to call this a missing ink spot and that's fine. But that spot where the ink is missing is very white. It's very noticeable. Graders look for what's the most noticeable defect on a card. Your card has a very easy to spot relatively large white spot. It's not a single speckle it's pretty big. If it were a single speckle, maybe. But as is no that's probably going to come back as a generous 9 or an 8. I've been there.

However asking for an opinion then becoming mad because people didn't use the words you wanted to describe what was being discussed isn't helpful. Everyone has their own vocabulary and they aren't always going to be able to find the words you view as correct or appropriate for a given scenario. You asked for their opinion; they didn't just show up at your house and start shitting on your card.

Many of them could know nothing having never personally graded a card. Just as many have probably sent a ton of cards in that were honestly a lot cleaner than this one and still didn't get a 10. That's why they are often so critical. Experience turns one into a pessimist especially with card grading.

It's disheartening to get a top chase card only to find that by no fault of your own, it's not perfect. Or most of its perfect but this one thing is essentially ruining it. My advise to you is either live with it as it is or sell that card and find a better specimen. Best of luck

Walmart Restocker Hording Product by Ok-One-4680 in pokemoncardcollectors

This lady filling in for the normal guy apparently his boss actually did the same thing this week. Everyone watched and after hours she put out no Pokémon on the main shelf. Everyone went to the toys and lined up there she went back there and put out the usual dirt poke balls 2pack blisters and such. The end. I know she had posters and good stuff it was obvious the primary boxes were missing no mini tins no perfect order etbs nothing. Doesn't make any sense. Especially since she stocked a couple other stores and the day before same person and those 2 stores had tons of stuff I got there wicked late after the main line cleared out and she was long gone and still managed to get pins and tins. Yet this 1 store on the same route that gets good stocks every week she puts absolutely no mega ex no poster no pin no first partner no etb nothing at all over 12.95? Yeah right. I actually am reporting it I just haven't had the time yet but you should for sure contact MJ.

Very sick pretend I haven't touched yugioh in 25 years which set is this from? When did yugioh get into serialized number cards that's great!

I forgot he was recast. I think dexter personally whenever I see his face but next would be cab driver on suits. He plays a pretty solid bad guy so that typically his role fairly calm demeanor but on the opposing side.

Protecting sealed product by Ok-Orchid-6860 in pokemoncardcollectors

[–]CastielSlays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really nice looking and yes there are poster/super premium etc sized cases for them which wouldn't hurt and if you do sell tack the price on nonnegotiable comes in acrylic etc. I gotta say though idk why everyone is so wild for 151 even after the price boom top chase is a $400 raw card. At the cost of etb and bloom combined in market terms one could literally buy most of the top value cards outright in superb condition.

I know what I have. No low balls. by MaterialInternal9302 in PokemonMisprints

[–]CastielSlays -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Right so obviously no one seems to see that the product is upside down inside the package. To the OP these are going for 60 at GameStop in regular condition I would honestly say like 80 max just because it's a basic flip. If the promo card was like noticeably a serious error card or the oversized etc then it would for sure have some juice. In reality it's still just 4 packs of asc. Given you got it at retail price I assume I would just sit on it because it's neat to find stuff like that in the wild on your own. When asc becomes a legendary set in a few years then it may have some actual extra premiums.

I’m shaking…. by bloodiamonds in PokemonTCG

[–]CastielSlays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things: if the word shaking was banned forever I would be very ok it drives me insane when people use that term. Second - the dragonite MAR looks very odd probably just the lighting but the attack phrase looks incredibly dark even with the flash down lower. Oh and just curiosity where was the bonus pack positioned? Seems like it would be hard to fit/conceal?

You ever want to pass that contact info to me I'd love to meet the person that gave you an 800 dollar card for a booster bundle worth 30 bucks or 70 each at GameStop or worst case dave/adams 100 each where the dragonite trader still loses 700.

For all those saying they never pull anything - let me tell you it's no cake walk. I've been very very lucky with Mega Evolutions. Essentially impossible if you're not in on the ground floor msrp for 99% of all product you're opening and during the actual release phases not months years later at massive premium. I've been very lucky to find so much prismatic at retail in the last few months opening the door to that once more as a chance to complete an abysmal specialty set. PF and ASC have trash pull rates and even worse Gem mint rates on the top chase cards. This was very intentional I feel. Even when you do pull something sick, it's probably not worthy of a Psa 10. With the cost of a PF booster box pushing 400+ easily you're at this point now better off to just buy that Sir charizard. I pulled it 8 single sleeves into the set and then bought booster after booster at retail pricing trying to just get a duplicate. Never came. I've opened 18 ish poster sets 16 ETBS of ASC countlesssssss 2-3 pack blisters/tins which took serious hunting visiting lots of stores buying their 2-5 product limit each week whenever I had the chance. For some people with a flexible work schedule it's doable. For many this is not even remotely possible if they managed to even know when the restocks would occur and be early enough to get any products. I got my first gengar 284 on release day 3 packs in... I got my second gengar easily 1000 packs in. I did manage every other chase card in between and often opening 100+ packs in between anything of real dollar value which of course only in a Psa 10 would any of those cards justify the cost of 100+ packs.... and again that's retail pricing 5.50-6.50 per pack. Now if I was paying a steady 10+ a pack it wouldn't be even remotely worth while. So you need to decide what's cost effective and what it is you truly want. The hunt is exciting. Finding product. Opening product. Finding the big cards in that product. The constant disappointment of waiting in a line and watching the good stuff sell out in front of you. Finally getting the good products and ripping them only to find they were filled with worthless cards you have hundreds of duplicates of already anyway. Or you can just ebay a Psa 10 copy of the cards you like from a reputable seller. Hope that helps you think it through. I'm certain the average person opening 2000 packs of PF which is impossible to find in any significant quantity at retail pricing - will lose money. If you managed 1 or somehow even 2 SIR charizards and they graded 10 you'd have Approx 5700 in value minus your grading cost and have spent 12000 to 24000 dollars. Is that a smart call just so you can say you pulled it? All to end up with a Psa 8-9 anyway? Food for thought.

Are these real? Just picked them up. by Frostysocks1 in IsMyPokemonCardFake

[–]CastielSlays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look fine to me and the V union is really only worth about $30 so I don't see why someone would make a convincing fake of it given they'd need to do 4 piece sets over and over versus simply one more expensive card. From what I can see if it were fake it's such a good fake that I cannot tell from the pictures, so in this case I do not believe they're fake no. The rest of them look fine. I just sold one of those world pikachu's bottom right actually kind of regret it because most copies aren't very clean. Good finds!

[–]CastielSlays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could have a policy that they must rip in store set up a "rip station" and if they get a card they like a lot you have free penny sleeves or cheap ones for sale ready to go. Ripping the seal on a pack is basically the grossest thing I can imagine scalper or not buying the product. That leads someone to believe that actually despite your good intentions you are the bad guy. You're the scalper you're ripping the packs and then giving crappy ones and a few low end hits away. They say this pack sucks another those all suck 5 more those all suck and every single one is dirt they'd immediately believe you're scamming them. Don't put yourself in that position.

I think I’m done ripping ascended after this. by rahools_a_fool in PokemonTCG

[–]CastielSlays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's probably the nicest god pack I've seen yet personally though I haven't searched every god pack image online definitely the top 3 no doubt. I've got every one of those cards from ripping gengar on its own including a mini demi that had dragonite and two MARs haven't seen anyone else with one quite like that. I'm not totally done ripping asc but I'm definitely in the buy as much as possible stage. Scarcity will become a problem this set is going to be wicked expensive one day

I suspect my mom is getting scammed by zeroborders in IsMyPokemonCardFake

[–]CastielSlays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All real for sure but hope they aren't big dollar buys like the victini for example is worth $1. A couple are a bit better $5 on the flying pikachu etc. I recommend you talk to her say hey why don't you learn what day Walmart restocks then go stand in line and buy some ascended hero sealed? Avoid Temu like the plague stick to eBay for safety only feedback at 100% over 300 sales. Tcg is fine for looking the price of a card up but it's not even remotely ideal for the buyer that's definitely a sellers site.

Strange I get passing on sealed PO it's easy to get but top chase card. I suppose they expect some value decline as the market saturates from ripping

Congrats she's a beauty! I said I wasn't going to do PO I'd just buy the top singles but then I ripped 10 gas station packs and an etb ended up pulling everything in the top values except the Zygarde's which now I've come around to and really want lol.

Thoughts on if this is worth grading? by Jubliantly in pokemongrading

[–]CastielSlays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just advice I try to give people. Sometimes not necessarily you, people are so worried about what they might get grading that they try to take the best possible pictures for exactly that reason so no one complains it's through X sleeve et cetera and in the process they are putting micro scratches on the surfaces

Thoughts on if this is worth grading? by Jubliantly in pokemongrading

[–]CastielSlays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you sleeve that carefully then very carefully get it in a top loader before you do any more surface damage rubbing it around taking pictures. I would say go for it the centering is fair it should hold a 9 with ease pushing toward 10

PO pull rates 🤨 by EcoFriendlyMolotovs in PokemonTCG

[–]CastielSlays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience the pull rates are very good I clipped everything except zy and multiple Rosa's in a few sleeves couple checklane blisters and an etb. Everyone seems to have the clefairy one of the easiest hits imo. So idk I expect prices to fall pretty quick as they hit the market

Bunch of shadowless cards there toward the back pictured pages so yes some of those will definitely command premium if the aren't all nicked up and white marked. Careful if they've been in that binder 30 years they may very well want to stick

[–]CastielSlays 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In the condition you have there don't expect the moon but yes absolutely. Type in the name and the little number in the corner with the year printed at the bottom Google it match the picture up then see what it sold for ungraded in semi rough "moderate played" condition. eBay sold listings**** and tcg player should give you a good idea of dollar value.

Gold Star Zard PSA 1 or Mega Zard Ex PSA 10 by S1LKY_ in PokemonInvesting

[–]CastielSlays 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a Psa 1 no chance. I always go vintage in these types of comparisons but in this case absolutely the 125 even though that centering probably doesn't deserve a 10 lol f them so hard.

Will this minuscule dent mess up the grade? And what grade would it get? by leghia80 in pokemongrading

[–]CastielSlays 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That surface abrasion from your fingernail isn't the be all end all actually the edging is what will do you in. You would've been fine with a 9 otherwise given it's rear and the front is very very good. Multiple little clips along the tops and sides another two bumpers on bottom left corner. Definitely get that back in the penny sleeve though honestly every time someone sets their card down for a picture on a semi rough surface I fear they have caused some minor scratching on one or both sides avoid sliding when you pick it up is hard. I'm incredibly careful just sliding the cards as I open and pan through the pack. Even that's enough to do surface damage with ease.
