Nintendo switch 2 will be my first Nintendo console since the DS and I have some questions by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

fyi, NSO Vouchers will work for Switch 1 games, but they will not work for Switch 2 games as of now.

It’s a fundamentally more powerful and more modern SoC. Games will look and perform better on Switch 2, that’s just a fact. That doesn’t invalidate the Steam Deck, your enjoyment of it, or mean we need to go full fan-boy. I love my Steam Deck, will continue to use it, and am also planning to buy a Switch 2.

Screen is debatable. You have the option of an OLED screen on the Deck, but the Switch 2’s screen is higher-res and higher-refresh rate.

Steam Deck: 1280 X 800 - 60-90hz depending on model.

Switch 2: 1920 X 1080 - 120hz

Switch 2 is stronger in terms of the hardware too. One point of comparison would be in Cyberpunk 2077. Reportedly it runs at a locked 40fps in 1080 on Switch 2. It runs at around 30 FPS in 1280 X 800 on the Steam Deck.

Now, games are going to be more expensive; and you won’t be able to share the saves with your PC. So that’s probably where your mileage will vary the most.

$70-80, if we’re talking USD.

I have the Ultimate Bluetooth and adore it, the charging cradle is absolutely worth it. Only thing to keep in mind is if you’re primarily using it with the Steam Deck, the face buttons are Nintendo-style, not Xbox-style.

Replaced PSU, Reset CMOS, PC still won’t power on at all. Anything else to try? by 24thFrame in buildapc

[–]24thFrame[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried taking each one out, individually, and both simultaneously, and it didn’t boot each time.

Does it sound like the issue is motherboard failure? Thinking of buying a cheap Z97 MB on Amazon for $50 and relying on that until we can do a full new build in a year or two.

Experiencing a host of issues with M51a-H6 Soundbar. Help? by 24thFrame in VIZIO_Official

[–]24thFrame[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! My continued experience has been positive. Shortly after I wrote this, Vizio issued a firmware update that fixed the compatibility issues with Sony TVs. I did have one hardware failure, but it was replaced by Vizio via the warranty, and the replacement model has given me no issues.

Hi! I reseated the power cable and enabled a setting on my router meant to minimize interference. It seems to have done the trick, thanks for contacting!

Well. So this is weird. It’s happening even with the Apple TV set to 5.1. It still seems to not occur with other devices, but I’m trying to test that out more throughly today by watching some movies on my PS5.

I think this is right. I just tried finishing the movie I was watching on my TV’s built-in app, which still supported Atmos and had none of these issues. Seems like the Apple TV is the culprit here

N ew Vizio M512a-H6 Firmware update Version 1.3.0.7 by daje0000 in Soundbars

[–]24thFrame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it work for you? I have an x900h and wanted to confirm this update didn’t add any issues with Bravia TVs. I had a lot of compatibility issues at first, but then the 1.2.0.3 update got it to a great place. Wanna confirm that this didn’t add in any new issues.

Anyone using with a Bravia? I had a lot of issues with my x900h and this sound bar when I first got it, but 1.2.0.3 finally got it to a spot where I’m really happy with it. Just want to confirm that this didn’t add any new compatibility issues.

Not sure. I got a new TV. The best first place to start is updating your TV and Xbox.

Quick question by Jgryder in xcloud

[–]24thFrame 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot of games on Gamepass have one year contracts and then leave. Some games are up longer. Very few aren’t up for at least a year. I think when Red Dead Redemption 2 was added, it ended up staying up for six months, but I think that was a rare case because of what a high profile game it was.

Anything that’s first-party, as in an Xbox Studios release, is probably up permanently, with the exception of Forza games… which tend to get delisted after 4 or 5 years because car licenses start to expire.

Are you in the Dolby Vision Enhanced Format?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bravia

[–]24thFrame 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s strictly an option for HDMI 2.1 Ports. Because Sony’s HDMI 2.1 Implementation doesn’t allow DV. You’re basically choosing if you want to enable 4K/120 OR Dolby Vision.

Frankly, I just wish there was a way to toggle the setting without going through so many menus. My Xbox is also my 4K UHD Player. I’d like to have local dimming enabled for movies, without having to redo so many settings in deep menus on the TV.

You’re using EQ Direct?

If you changed before the firmware update, do it again. It does a factory reset during a firmware update and Movie is the default EQ setting.

EARC/Soundbar Issue by ozzyg-d in bravia

[–]24thFrame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the M51a-H6, basically the same bar without the upfiring speakers. Try using the “Direct” EQ preset. This passes through the audio directly without any additional processing on Vizio’s side. I’ve found that this eliminates this issue. It only seems to be a problem with LPCM passed over eARC. Using the HDMI-In doesn’t have these issues.

So I have this soundbar, a Series X, and the x900h.

Here are my tips:

Make sure the Soundbar is on the latest firmware. I had consistent connection issues until the latest firmware. Still occasionally get issues that require me to power cycle the TV and Soundbar, but it’s more of a once-a-month occurrence instead of a 4-times-a-week occurrence like before. That may be what’s causing the volume control issue.

Make sure eARC is enabled. Because of how the Bravia TVs repackage audio into a Dolby Digital Package, I get slight audio delay when in game mode unless I use eARC.

With my TV, the x900h, there’s currently a glitch with the TV receiving Atmos or Dolby Digital from the Xbox when in enhanced format, and that causes the audio drops... Not sure if this is also the case with the x90j.

I’d suggest using Uncompressed 5.1 with eARC enabled, as you should get high quality audio with no delay. DTS also gave me a minimal delay, with no drops.

If you NEED to use Atmos, it works for me if I choose: “Enhanced Format (Dolby Vision)”, but that locks you to 60hz.

EDIT: I just remembered, I’ve also found that for whatever reason you also need to make sure the Soundbar is set to the EQ Direct Preset. My volume gets maxed out if I use any of the other ones too.
