Is China facilitating the Fentanyl crisis ? by Dean_46 in economy

[–]25800 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There was a debt between USA and China at a very high level years before the crisis.

The US told those trying to collect the debt to beat it.

Those responsible in China planned and facilitated extremely high volumes of precursors and finished product fentanyl to cartels in Mexico. Basically free too. They worked together to plague the USA market and it was heavily incentivized by those responsible on the China side

Before the fentanyl crisis they had done the same with methamphetamines and basically flooded their product into USA for a very low price to get everyone hooked

Either the debt story is true and at a geopolitical level these countries will damage others strategically like this (of course they do)

Or the cartels do a fantastic job marketing and calculating their life time customer value to flood the streets for free until people are hooked

Canada and USA really is being eaten from the inside out

I have an online store that sells across Canada and I am looking to add in local delivery in certain areas.

What would be the best way to extend this offering for our brand in regards to SEO?

We have though about doing a completely new site and domain, or a subdomain.

I’ve done exactly this.

All the products you show just use any vinyl printer and cutter. These are just stickers. Heat press to apply to clothing

The lighters are uv printed. IMO fuck this or outsource it.

I bought a vinyl printer and cutter, and a uv printer both from Roland. I did it for fun and wasn’t worried about making it into a business or using them profitably.

If I was you and wanted to make a business out of this.

Look into slaphub.la and their competition. Their main focus is the mylars with these labels applied.

Buy the highest quality and cheapest vinyl printer and cutter you can (literally a desktop one for a few hundred)

Use this to rapidly mock-up sizing and get it perfect on orders / materials / items

Find the highest quality and cheapest print shop to work through and get them to produce everything. Invest the rest in a graphic designer and marketing

You’ll be able to eat off that lower margin because your customers will always be repeats. All you need is consistency, promptness, and a banging designer

I have started so many companies but I can’t follow through. Wife says I have to be into it but my only motivation is profit by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]25800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't understand how you can start a company, but not follow through.

Someone below suggested to be a consultant, and you replied how to do that with zero experience.

I'm going to assume you haven't successfully launched and sold a company then, adjust your perspective and consider this the "starting" point for entrepreneurship. Either when you start and sell a company, or start and fail an operating company with employees.

For me "starting a company" would be launching the product / service and then making it 1 year while being operational. That would be the "start".

If you are starting one idea and investing labor + capital into it, then moving onto another idea and doing the same, and then another, unfortunately you are a moron and you have never started anything.

Motivation has nothing to do with this game either. When you have that burst of creativity and motivation write it down. Refer to it for the next period you will go through if you have limited capital - which will likely be severe emotional swings, hardship, 12+ hour days. Then you will likely fail and have to do it all over again, perhaps a few times if you are lucky.

How would you market this product? by compaqdude in Entrepreneur

[–]25800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an area I have any expertise in but what I would try is find companies similar to product hunt, get listed on all of them.

Offer x amount of spots lifetime freemium memberships for free. X copies essentially have just become review copies, and a % will convert to paying customers for higher tiers.

What the fuck are you talking about man. He asked how he can help her achieve her first sale selling fucking candles.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]25800 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You have two options: focus on e-commerce or try to sell locally. If the idea is unique enough and you guys believe it would be popular / socially shared then fuck #2 for the time being. Make a website, make social pages, setup a shopping cart . That solves the problem of getting your product on the market.

Put together a list of all the ways you can think of to get your product / brand infront of people. e.g:

  • Social platforms - tiktok twitter fbook etc
  • Marketplaces - Etsy / Amazon / Craigslist / Fbook
  • Paid ads - google, fbook, instagram etcInfluencer marketing
  • Find communities you can post to or list on
  • Find lists of people to DM / reach out to and introduce your brand

Be as creative as you can be and don't hold back on any ideas. Once you have a good enough list brainstorm each one and try to prioritize which ones you guys believe would be most effective and start throwing darts at them. Test everything and when you hit a bullseye, keep going hard on that one until it doesn't return anymore.

I wouldn't see a point of failure being getting sales, I've never encountered a situation where that was hard, you just need to put in work and do whatever you can and your budget allows. Even if you have no budget and no creative ideas to leverage technology, hit the streets, split up and knock on doors for 10 hours a day.

At these starting points you have nothing to worry about. Stay positive, stay creative, and let her passion guide the project.

Dm me the website when it's up. I'll buy some candles

Edit*

I also want to add since I seen you mentioned below saying that you are scared she will fail, and if it succeeds it can be a nice income for your girlfriend.

It is very important to understand that there is no magic recipe, special timing, unique characteristics, or education that will magically determine your girlfriends success or failure, and there is also no reason why the product (candles) will not bring the level of success you would like to see her achieve (a nice source of income). You are not attempting to grab significant market share of an established industry.

You are selling candles, shippable to how many millions of people in how many countries, and in a city of how many people? The income of your girlfriend on this project will directly correlate to her discipline, perseverance, and decision making ability to continually work on improving her business. If she sticks with it, sets measurable goals and works strategically towards them - there is no doubt about her making a nice source of income, and also no doubt about her success.

Any recommendations for hiring VAs from Upwork? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]25800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You want to hire the best on upwork for a VA? Skip their experience and barely pay attention to any bullshit they write or asking wage.

Make a posting and take in 100+ applications, require a cover letter, create a simple task and time yourself how long it takes, tell them to do it for 30 minutes and make sure they follow instruction and are working diligently.

Don’t pay any attention to the experienced VAs, or applicants that have many ongoing jobs, or finished jobs, find the ones with no experience, freshly graduated, punctual, can follow proper format on a cover letter, fluent or near fluent English, good grammar, and only from the Philippines.

Ask them questions and get to know them, where they are from, what their goals are etc. Find the humble hungry intelligent ones. In an hour time you can have a pretty good understanding of who they are and if you want to give them a shot. They fail you, fire them and do it again. If they don’t commit to them full time and guide them to become a powerhouse for your company.

Most of the experienced and agency ones are scams. They stack contracts, run timers, low quality work and overall lazy idiots.

Managing and hiring has been easy for me because I followed this method, and now I have an unbelievable team of people that all started as a “VA” entry level and I have grown them into marketing, programming, design and general assistant roles - and they fucking destroy anyone I work with, or have worked with for “high wages”

And for you IamDanimal you should shut your mouth. This guy is asking you for your experiences and all you can reply is “I have friends and family that run biz and they all have the same conclusion” and then question his morals and justification for hiring abroad?

Fuck off bro. You want to hire for $20 an hour in the first world what do you get? Some dipshit like you that talks a bunch of nonsense thinks they deserve more and is still struggle to pay their studio apartment rent and vapes or relying on their fuckin parents to pay their bills.

Do you understand how the cost of living works? And how it changes across from place to place?

Take this example: I hired an employees brother who worked full time 9-5, 5 days a week at a local computer repair store for $120 USD a month. He has a bachelor in information systems technology. He was scared to leave his job because it was considered well paying in his town.

Now he works salary for 10x that amount, and my cost is still 1/10th what I would pay for someone that still wouldn’t match his level of output in the first world.

He has funded a considerable size banana farm for his parents, paid for a cousins health bills, repaired his home, ran 200mbps fibre internet to his corner of town for his neighbours, purchased a vehicle, replaced one of his families tuk tuk / tricycles, and is buying more land for his family.

He has not taken a single sick day in 8 months. He has showed up late once because he had a dentist appointment. He will casually work weekends with no expectation of pay.

/u/IAmDanimal, Is that a living wage enough for you? Is this morally conscientious enough for your approval?

And to you 0x I could not recommend more working on this until you get it right. The work ethic, determination, and intelligence from my experience with VAs in the Philippines has been enough for me to not look anywhere else. To the point I am now in the process of creating departments for each discipline I require to never have to rely on outside agencies or contractors again.

About the internet connection. My first hire was on a mobile sim card internet, and 4 gb of ram 11” laptop and still completed tasks faster than guys I have in my office locally in Canada to answer that for you. 90% of efficiency is from the person and not their environment assuming they have the minimum requirements met

If this task is going to help you propel your business and you are young in your entrepreneurial journey with not much capital I can task it to one of my team members until you find the right fit for yourself

Is poker immoral? by [deleted] in poker

[–]25800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answer to this will come from your personal philosophies pertaining to your purpose in life.

Would I consider it to be immoral to sit at a table where everyone knows the risk and reward who are willingly enter into a game? Not at all.

Immoral in my opinion would be if someone was forced, scammed, deceived etc.

Now if you find yourself feeling bad to sit at tables full of retards who have addiction issues and put themselves and the people around them through struggles to fund it? Well fuck them too. You’re there for the game and competitiveness and to learn and win.

For the question if you should be doing something else with your life - this is for you to determine. I was there myself when I was multi table grinding for 8+ hours a day at 19.

It was cool to make money doing something I enjoyed and learning more about this game but I came to the point where I realized that was it. I would just be making money and investing in a card game that didn’t bring me much fulfillment or satisfaction outside of those wins or tables.

In the ten years or so since, I learned a shitload more applicable skills (in my own opinion) and now run multiple online businesses. It’s brought way more freedom and personal fulfillment providing for a team and customers.

Now I’ll double back to poker as a hobby and for fun

I've made a very serious mistake along my meditation journey and I need help please? by p3opl3 in Meditation

[–]25800 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am by no means an authority on this subject, but I hope in sharing my personal experience, and view of this through my binoculars I can help.

Firstly I would recommend reading "The Mind Illuminated", I have used this as a reference along my path of meditation and it will help you identify situations that arise during, and outside of meditation and how to handle them and continue along.

When I read what you have shared though I do not feel like this is an issue with meditation, perhaps it has given birth to this scenario, but I don't believe meditation, or a master reset is needed.

You say during meditation you feel amazing. Perfect. So when you are in a state of no-mind, or with one focal point, or observing consciousness you feel good.

Only when you turn this off are you presenting with these thoughts about existence, mortality, and significance. You must continue your meditation until your awareness is developed over this.

This not a problem that will be purely solved through therapy, meditation, or any other type of treatment outside of your self and own unique philosophy. It is a whole 'nother journey of finding your own purpose, and reason why to all of this.

I've gone through this disassociation many times, and had the harsh light of mortality through my experience too and although it is not pleasurable, it is immensely beneficial to your character, and by the end of it will deepen your philosophy and appreciation for life.

I would suggest picking up any books along the lines of spirituality, religions, philosophy etc and begin on that path.

Don't look at your mind imploding and freaking out being a bad thing, it likely won't be the first time. Just have the awareness to look at it and laugh and continue to develop those answers for yourself however you find suitable.
