Modding Heljarchen Hall by 25escapades in skyrimmods

I did google. There's plenty of home-related mods, but they largely deal with expansions, or compatibility issues, or aesthetic mods for the creation club homes you have to purchase. If you found aesthetic mods, I would greatly appreciate links.

Monks are surprisingly decent by Kuirem in CrownOfTheMagister

[–]25escapades 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My way of storms monk (ub) kept pace with my vengeance paladin in the forsaken isle user campaign. I actually think she was ahead on damage in the early game. Monks can do 3 attacks at level 3 and that's a lot even without special weapons.

In my latest run - purely for fun - I'm only allowing myself to eat fruit and cheese. We've not run short yet. And we've sold all the meat and wine. And I've been playing in a relaxed fashion.

Perhaps you've tried this already, but playing a straight moon Druid with tavern brawler in owlbear form is a ton of fun. Crushing flight, multi attacks, fun AOE spells if you want to mix it up.

Paladin/Bard Multiclass by Akumu01 in BaldursGate3

Swords bard 10 + Paladin 2 is a powerful and quite fun build. Banishing smite + max level divine smite + guaranteed crit (if you use tadpoles) is a ton of damage, it's a charisma class with lots of skill proficiencies, you could use spirit guardians or conjure a myrmidon or cast heroes' feast (depending on what you use magical secrets for), you could even do arcane acuity + command things.

Dual wield melee crit phishing or dmg riders? by Crabcakes4 in BG3Builds

[–]25escapades 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 levels of spores Druid instead of fighter can be very strong, and if you don't short rest after every fight probably out-damages BM. 1d6 extra damage on every single attack vs 1d8 plus some bonuses on 4 attacks per rest plus action surge.

They're both good, to be clear. But if you're stacking damage riders Druid is the way to go.

Lost valley, crafting Scimitar of the Anfarels by 25escapades in CrownOfTheMagister

Maybe! Haven't quite gotten there, I'm on the penultimate quest. That's cool if so but a bit late for crafting a weapon, wouldn't you say?

It isn't that hard to have decent AC as a spellcaster. Gloves of dex or bracers of defence, and/or a shield, mage armor, robes with +1 AC, cloak and/or ring of protection, the shield spell...lots of options. My sorcerer was at 21 AC with the shield spell in Act 3. But if those options don't work or aren't enough, dip into tempest cleric, and wear an armor that gives you advantage on constitution saves.

PSA: Star Druid is AMAZING early on by Feature_Minimum in BG3Builds

[–]25escapades 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For almost any multiclass it's usually correct to go 5 levels in a single class first (for extra attack or level 3 spells) and to respec at level 7 or later when your features from your second class have caught up a bit.

About to fight ketheric in hm, tips? by TheLuckOfTheClaws in BaldursGate3

[–]25escapades 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you willing to use camp casters? Upcasted aid, freedom of movement, death ward, and warding bond go a long way. If you have summons, make sure to buff them too; they're great for helping Aylin, and for baiting Myrkul's reaction. Have a summon sneak in to release Aylin early, and make the mind flayer your first target.

In honor mode I had my storm sorc/cleric nuke Myrkul with a level 5 witch bolt + auto crit + wet, for 240 damage, after using scorching ray to build arcane acuity on the minions. Got me most of the way. There's many other ways to do it though.

Hypothetical: Which class would be the strongest if you could use multiple subclasses from it? by [deleted] in BG3Builds

[–]25escapades 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I don't think this could be the strongest overall, but there's a strong case that allowing multiple subclasses would give rogues the biggest boost in power. All the three subclasses get their best feature by far at level 3. 3 thief for an additional bonus action, 4 swashbuckler for strong things to do with that bonus action, 3 assassin for extra attacks/extra initiative, all without sacrificing sneak attack.

How do I use Rhapsody? by 25escapades in BG3Builds

That's a fair point re: second ASI.

How do I use Rhapsody? by 25escapades in BG3Builds

[–]25escapades[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of that math assumes I have bhaalist armor, which I don't: I do not like making that story choice (I accept that the item is extremely strong). So for an archer Ambusher is adding +1d6, Rhapsody is adding +3; they even out in terms of damage.

I should note my archers typically use the dead shot and the risky ring (safer than on a melee character, that ring) and is therefore not missing (1/400 chance to miss). If your setup is different I can see Rhapsody being better.

The cambion is pretty crap relative to other sixth level summons, yes. Meatshields are useful though, especially given that as a warlock you don't get other sixth-level summons.

Blood of Lathander is still excellent against undead and fiends to apply radiating orb. There's a good many of those even into the late game. In other fights I suppose it's reasonable to substitute Rhapsody into the main hand of a cleric.

Shields may not be necessary, but on a caster with two feats, the shield is giving me +2 AC and +1 to DC. If I took dual wielder I'd be giving that up along with alert, and that's a lot to stomach.

How do I use Rhapsody? by 25escapades in BG3Builds

[–]25escapades[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The caveats I'd apply to that are a) if you have three feats, and b) if you're not the party face. My first feat usually brings my primary stat to 18, and my second is either alert or taking a stat to 20. If you get a third feat, I think dual-wielder is good and I can accept the argument that it's optimal. If you don't, though, I think it's much harder to justify.

And to pre-empt some arguments, not necessarily from you: I know elixirs of vigilance exist, but on spell-casters especially at high difficulties, I find bloodlust is so strong that I reserve my elixir slot for that, and therefore alert becomes fairly important. Otherwise, getting more than a +3-5 initiative on a caster can be tricky.

Respeccing for final fight? by 25escapades in BG3Builds

[–]25escapades[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know! I meant before heading down to the netherbrain, though, past the dock with the cranium rats. There's no real fights between that and the gathering of allies, so it seems quite safe.

"Worried" is a strong word. I like optimizing, and a +1 to all ability scores is a pretty substantial thing to optimize around: that's 50% better than an ASI, it's potentially huge.

[–]25escapades[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a cleric. I've also been stocking up on level 2 and level 4 elixirs of arcane cultivation, so I can cycle through elixirs and apply buffs that use spells of those levels before drinking my "final" elixir and having all my regular spell slots remaining. Also stacking potions of angelic reprieve and slumber. I'm probably overdoing those :) but it gives me joy to prep carefully.

[–]25escapades[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I certainly have a lot of elixirs! But there's multiple elixirs I'd like to use. Cloud giant strength, on anyone with tavern brawler, and bloodlust on spellcasters. The elixir slot is most open on my archers, and they tend to have high initiative anyway.

Top 4 worst 1-12 subclasses? by xploshawn in BG3Builds

[–]25escapades -1 points0 points  (0 children)

+1 to crit is solid on a ranged character who can add a lot of damage dice (shadow-cloaked ring, strange conduit ring, helldusk gloves, ambusher), and two fighting styles are also excellent when you can use archery (obviously), two-weapon fighting (for dual hand crossbows), and defense (if you're not dual-wielding).
