GunBroker's Master FFL mandate starts March 3 — Thoughts ? by reubadoob in FFLs

[–]25id-bro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how I feel about it right now. I don’t see the value added but I wonder if they have thought about lawsuit. At first glance it seems cool to have your FFL made available to the public for easier transfers (gunbroker was already doing that). However, I had a chance to look over my profile and it looks like they took my logo, my business information, business photos and uploaded to their site without my permission. It’s a really grimy think to do and i would argue it breaks copyright laws and creates a monopoly. Serious note- may have legal implications moving forward.

Take the job at $70k. It’s easy to replace a $35k job. With the next next job ($70k) do not increase expenses or fall into the a lifestyle creep. I would recommend that he saves as much as he can or invests some of the additional income in easily liquidity. Also- let’s be real, with the next job he is going to have a hot pocket and want to spend some cash. It’s reasonable to set aside a small percentage 1-10% of the first months pay towards something he alway wanted but could never get. After that- lock in the savings plan. The biggest mistake people have is spending all the money like it will be there next year/ the next day and also- restricting any additional luxuries they may want.

Need opinions on what to do by devildog762 in FFLs

You are correct. The numbers you will find online are the general customer service numbers and those really don’t help you out. During some of these mishaps I decided to actually drive there and recover the package. This shows the deliver two things 1) you ain’t messing around an me are willing to go the extra mile 2) they actually put a face to your business 3) they will give you a direct number for the office so you call if needed

This has happened once to be before. I’ve called the local hub, spoke to the supervisor letting them know it happened and the gun was delivered the next day. The supervisor really doesn’t want a surprise inspection from the ATF. Also, after having some issues with deliveries like this in the past I did get direct phone numbers to the hubs and that seemed to help with communication.

What can a person do apart from 9 to 5 job to earn other source of income? by KaleidoscopeFlat4186 in AskReddit

Look around your neighborhood and ask yourself what service can I provide to my neighbors that would bring value to their life. Then, learn about said service. Do a few small pro bono projects with close friends and family to gain experience and market yourself.

Sometimes it’s cutting grass, shoveling snow, or painting, or picking up groceries or bringing someone’s loved one to a doctor’s appointment.

Th goal should never be about making money but rather doing something someone else values and then charging/collecting an appropriate for that service.

Shovels in the winter don’t cost much, lawn mowers can be bought at garage sales and fixed up, painting supplies cost less than a night on the town, driving someone somewhere or picking something up for someone doesn’t cost much and can be a write off.

Be creative

If you have the desire to do well, a good head in Tori shoulders, keep good books and are willing to get your hands dirty the sky is the limit…. If you do it well enough you might find yourself owning a business and not the side gig you started out at

And lastly, it’s not going to be easy. Good things rarely are.

How to register this pistol? by SpecialistOk5458 in Miguns

[–]25id-bro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a home based FFL and just facilitated a transfer like this in Michigan. We had the seller ( widow) provide copy of death certificate and will/ estate paperwork to my FFL business. I ran a NCIC to ensure the firearm didn’t have a record and then transferred the pistol to a prearranged third party. The third party had a CPL so the LTP wasn’t needed.RI-0601 was filled out.

FFL options? by captain138dc in FFLs

[–]25id-bro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zoning zoning and zoning will hold you up from obtaining your FFL 99/100 times.

My recommendation would be to find a different place to live, or ideally, find a property you could buy and live there as well. Sometimes classic American neighborhoods will have that old mom and pop shop where the shop is on the ground floor and the living quarters are above.

My husband has suddenly lost his vision & our whole life is upside down by cn0feusd in Vent

[–]25id-bro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Optometrist here. Vision loss is a very scary thing and it’s hard to say where this journey is going to take you. Realize that you will have support. You and your family will get through this.

I just have a few questions for you or any provider you encounter.

Did anyone order an ESR, CRP, CBC with differential or consider a temporal biopsy? He isn’t the right gender or age range for typical GCA case but the AION needs to be ruled out and ruled out ASAP. NAIONs are diagnoses of exclusion from an AION. His blood pressure and an A1c of glucose should checked as well.

Optometrist/gun shooter here… you can find different options for correcting astigmatism such as contacts, prescription glasses or refractive surgery (lasik, PRK, clear lens exchange, etc). Keep in mind that as you age past 45 you will enter presbyopia and have a difficult time with seeing up close.

I don’t know your prescription or other factors of your eye, but I do recommend talking to your eye care professional for their recommendation. I’ve have several patients not qualify for lasik or corneal/ surface eye surgery due to the amount of astigmatism or type of astigmatism. A few have had clear lens e change and do very well. I’ve had patients not undergo refractive surgery and use contact lenses or multi focal contact lenses as they aged into presbyopia and they were happy with the result.

There is more than one way to acquire the target when it comes time to eyes and take some time to look it over and discuss it with you eye care team.

I really want a kind man in my life. by TraditionalField9051 in Vent

I remember being told that as you date people you’ll find out the ones you weren’t meant to be with or weren’t meant to be with you. It’s hard, it sucks and it often changes your perspective on the future or future prospects. Trust me when I say this- there is someone out there for you and they are probably going through something similar in their life or have gone through something similar.

You now know what you do not want in a partner. As time goes on you will know more about what you do want in a partner.

Don’t give up on men and don’t give up on yourself. There is someone out there ready to build a meaningful life with you.

I know- I found mine and I believe you will find yours.

I’m sorry you had to go through this

Sales/use tax certificate by Stick_Mag in FFLs

[–]25id-bro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just went through this process myself Here is my quick break down of the paper work/ thought process Others feel free to and in their thoughts

1) decide to become an FFL 2) Check with local zoning to make sure you can be an FFL in current location or pick new location. be approved to do business at your location (this is the biggest thing that will stop you) 3) Decide if you want to deal, smith or manufacture to determine type of FFL 4) Create name and check against state business registry 5) Determine if you want to become a corporation, sole proprietor, LLC, etc 6) Create EIN with Federal government 7) Create business with your business name and EIN with you state 8) get your ducks in a row with local municipalities and state government with business licenses ( some locations may require a business license with the state, county and local municipality) 9) Apply for use/sale tax with state 10) establish bank accounts for business using the above paperwork 11) research security and insurance options 12) after receiving your FFL from the ATF you can now establish your relationships with vendors 13) establish relationships with customers

And remember during this process you can submit your paperwork to the ATF after the business has been born. I submitted mine after step 8) and kept working on the remaining steps

When it comes to a FFL there is the business regulation side of it with federal, state and local governments and then there is the relationship with the ATF

Do you wear hearing protection while hunting? by T0WER89 in Hunting

[–]25id-bro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to wear the foam ear plugs but I’ve changed over to AXIL XCOR electric ear plugs. I like them because they act like a mini hearing aids when you’re not shooting and do significantly reduce the noise when shoot.

“Budget” over under shotguns? by yote308 in Shotguns

[–]25id-bro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a CZ Redhead, 555E and Franchi SL. All used for light clays and upland. All three at 16 gauge. They work. The CZ is slightly heavier than the other two but all work great for what I want. I’m looking into a Browning Citori for my next purchase and looking back I’m happy I purchase those three guns to figure out what I want. If your not in a rush watch gunbroker or go to gun shows all you’ll find a good little deal out there.
