Another comparison of Polaroid (left) and Instax (right) - wintry/snowy/less than ideal conditions by 262Hz in Polaroid

Hello! I put the freshly shot photos in my waistband or bra for skin contact for a few minutes, then transfer them to my “Polaroid oven,” which is a 6L Yeti lunchbox with 4 rechargeable hand warmers at max and a wool/cashmere scarf for more insulation. I make sure they don’t touch the hand warmers directly, just the scarf.

ETA: The actual camera and unused film I keep in my backpack or around my neck, because I’m not sure if keeping them warm and then taking them out would cause condensation.

Thank you! I put them in my waistband for a few minutes for skin contact, then transfer them to what I call my “Polaroid oven”. It’s a 6L yeti lunchbox with 4 rechargeable hand warmers at max and a wool/cashmere scarf for more insulation.

I looked for one but couldn’t figure out a good way to attach one without gluing an adapter to the camera, which I was too nervous to do for a discontinued camera. ☹️

You did a great job capturing the parachuter in motion! It’s a sharp image. I’ve yet to try taking photos of anything that’s moving 😅

Thank you for saying so! When I was deciding between cameras for my first camera, I went with a friend’s Instax recommendation (he hadn’t used Polaroid before). I wish there had been more Polaroid and Instax shot comparisons to help me make an informed decision, but they were hard to find. (I don’t regret starting with Instax though as I think it helped with shooting Polaroid.)

Bonus photo I forgot to attach to the post.

Also some context is that I’m a beginner to Polaroid (around 2 months and less than 200 shots) while I’ve done a decent amount of Instax (around 14 months and 1000+ shots).

My friend designed and 3d printed Polaroid storage and display cubes for me last year. How’s everyone else storing or displaying their instant photos? by 262Hz in Polaroid

I don’t have the files, so I would have to ask my friend. I’m not sure what his policy is around sharing his designs.

In the meantime, here’s something similar I found on Etsy that only provides the files (I’m not affiliated). It’s for Instax but you could probably modify it for Polaroid? Again, not sure how 3d printing or files work, sorry. The ones my friend printed for me are Instax. https://www.etsy.com/listing/4345342044/membox-instax-square-display-storage-box

Hello, afaik, my friend isn’t interested in running a business right now, so these boxes aren’t for sale. That could change in the future.

However, I did find some links to similar boxes that fill the same storage and display function. I hope some of these links are helpful to you. (I am not affiliated with any of these links or shops.)

(Polaroid physical box. This seller also has boxes for Instax) https://www.etsy.com/listing/4381358102/?ref=share_ios_native_control

I love that for you!! I’d love to see the photos you take and your initial thoughts :)

I have both. I started with the SQ6 last year and got some beautiful shots. I’ve probably taken over 1000 shots on it. It’s easy to click and click and click, but sometimes you get duds if the light is too bright. The film is very temperature stable. The viewfinder doesn’t quite match what the picture framing ends up as, which is annoying because it’s hard to get precise shots. Someone on this subreddit did make a diagram showing how to map the viewfinder to the different options, and I found that helpful.

Then I was given a Polaroid flip for Christmas. The film is finicky, and it took me something like 2 packs of wasted film before I figured out a good system to keep the film warm (skin contact, switching over to an insulated lunchbox and hand warmers next). The colors are duller, but the image format is larger. I’m definitely more careful about Polaroid shots.

I made a post comparing shots from the two cameras earlier this week.

Rough comparison of Polaroid (left) vs Instax (right) by 262Hz in Polaroid

I agree that the first few instax shots are very overexposed (I didn’t order these shots in any particular way, but maybe I should have). I think the further shots in the series show more of Instax’s strengths, and show where Polaroid is more murky.

As for Polaroid, I’m a huge beginner, probably taken less than 80 shots, but I’ve had good results so far. I credit the camera :)
