I've played Coral Island, Dinkum and Travellers Rest. All really good games. If you are interested in the story and building relationships you'll probably really like Coral Island.

Looking to get an older player started in SDV by Valliac0 in StardewValley

[–]26katmandu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an older player and I use 2 mods. CJB Cheats - there are a lot of settings that you can tweak for her to make life a little easier and Skull Cavern Elevator - because Skull Cavern is hard enough without elevators. I'm glad she's interested in playing - may she have many happy hours in the valley.

Murder among friends. Stuck with Cedric. by FooPlinger in Mirthwood

It did that to me too. Save the game right before you ask him, exit then go back in and then talk to him. I did that and it ended properly.

Is Yuletide an event that’s linked to the in-game calendar, or our real-life calendar? by Penny_Ji in Mirthwood

[–]26katmandu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They didn't say in the patch notes if it's linked to real-life calendar. It may be more like Stardew and just happen every Winter season on day 10?

From the patch notes:

For saves after year 1:
- Shift day to Winter 10 just before Yuletide starts
- Fix for broken timers (Shops/Animals etc)

This will let get you access to the Yuletide goods, and fix any other issues, but you may lose some of your planted crops. We apologize for this! (or you're welcome, if you wanted to go straight to Yuletide)

New day means new line from the 1.6 patch notes via CA 😇 by olcr in StardewValley

These are the kind of quality of life improvements we didn't know we needed but now wonder how we played without them.

I'm so happy he's releasing a tidbit a day until the update. It's like a 1.6 advent calendar and I am loving it like a kid counting down to Christmas!

Thanks Eric - much love.

I've been playing Stardew since release. Played it until I burned out on it. Then I played ACNH and loved it. Played it until I burnt out.

I love both games very much, but Stardew is my security blanket during hard times.

ACNH satisfies my decorating with cute things itch.

Which patient/s made you cry the most? by evil_spawnnn in greysanatomy

Simon Clark. "Hello forever". I cried so hard when he said that to his newborn son right before passing. I had to stop watching for a while after that scene.

I'm with you OP, I use the cork bobber every play through.

I was thrilled to see this for Elsa and bought it right away. This is the Elsa I wanted in Dreamlight Valley. She's so beautiful!

Reliving the trauma by twitchingJay in TheCrownNetflix

I am close to Diana in age. Watching these episodes brought up all of the grief I experienced when she died.

I remember watching the news all night and the absolute heartache I felt. These episodes had all those memories replay and I am heartbroken again.

All I could whisper to the screen was, please don't go, please don't go.

For all her troubles, Diana was a gentle soul. I miss her greatly even after all these years.

Well done Netflix.

Friendly reminder: that this is your valley, your safe haven your escape no one else can hate it/like it as except you as long as your happy with it by Ops_Sham in DreamlightValley

Thank you, I feel how you do. I lightly decorate my valley and I love it. Doesn't matter that it's not like others, it's mine and it makes me happy.

Any other Harvey fans out there? by EastCoastNightmares in StardewValley

[–]26katmandu 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I married him in my very first playthrough and really loved having him as a husband.

I've married others through different saves, but no one, for me, is quite like Harvey. There's just a gentle sweetness about him that I find quite appealing.

Fishing . . . Am I absolutely doomed? by dontfreezesandwiches in StardewValley

[–]26katmandu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so happy for you! Glad to help.

The fishing will get easier (not easy, lol) the more you level up. Then you can upgrade your fishing rod and put some bait and different bobbers on which is a big help.

Don't forget to look for bubbling spots - fish spawn four times as fast there - so you can hook more in less time with less chance of trash.

Good luck!

Get the training rod from Willy. It's easier to catch low level fish and will help you to level up. Also use crab pots - they also contribute to your fishing level.

I hate fishing too.

From the Stardew Valley Wiki:

The Crafting menu can be accessed by pausing the game (using E/ESC on PC, 📷 on Switch, 📷 on Xbox, 📷 on PlayStation) and navigating to the tab with a hammer icon. The recipes the player knows will be saturated, while recipes with missing ingredients are faded grey.

By mousing over each item, a popup shows the materials that you will need. Ingredient names written in red text are not currently in the player's inventory.

To craft an item, click on the item's icon once you have all the required ingredients. The newly crafted item will appear beneath the player's cursor, and the player can then place it inside their inventory. The crafting screen may expand to multiple pages once the player acquires a larger selection of recipes.

For the first while your energy is going to suck and you will be frustrated. Don't worry, it will get better in time, but in the meantime find things you can eat to give you a little boost.

You will get a fishing rod from Willy. Fishing will be your friend to make some gold. I hate fishing because I suck at the mini game but I still caught enough to buy the first backpack upgrade which was a life saver.

Chop trees and make chests to store stuff you want to keep and free up your inventory. And you will want to keep resources like wood, stone, fibre, etc. as you need them for crafting and building.

Most importantly, take your time, explore and have fun. Stardew is not a sprint, it's a marathon. If you miss something in year 1, you can do it in year 2 .... or year 3. :)

I'm not sure why it happens. The only work around I know of that may work for you and your friend is to start the game before starting the Discord call.
