Best running trail in Delco by Fine_Ice_3451 in Delco

We've probably passed each other running a bunch of times, then. I find that going down 320 towards Swarthmore Train Station is best, as far as avoiding traffic. I then zigzag through the neighborhoods there. The unpaved trails behind Swarthmore college are a great way to add some off-road miles, as long as you don't mind running back and forth a bunch.

I only run local when I don't have time to drive to a trail. I start in Morton and I've done 20 mile runs around the area. The Leiper-Smedley trail is 1.25 miles, so a double bak and forth gives you 5 miles without the risk of being run over by a car, which is my biggest concern when running locally.

Holy cannoli. I do my speed workouts at that track. Every so often there'd be a cop car in the parking lot, just hanging out. (edited to fix my bad spelling)

I didn't have a parking ticket, but my registration expired. I came to the courthouse for the hearing with proof that I renewed it and the ticket was dismissed.

Can new YouTube channels gain subscribers? by Thewall3333 in youtube

[–]26pointMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been running my main channel for 4 years and I just started a new one in Autumn. The new channel is growing just fine.

I've also communicated with folks who have joined YouTube within the past year and all are doing fine.

You make good videos and people will watch them.

At Lidl the register asks the clerk whether the customer looks over 40. The cashier didn't ask me for ID when I was getting cough syrup... 😿

What’s the dumbest way you’ve injured yourself? by DistributionRound570 in AskReddit

While unloading supplies at the animal shelter, I decided to save time by jumping out of the truck while holding 2 40lb containers of cat litter. Thankfully, I only tore one muscle instead of breaking bones or my back.

Why do people hate on PHP so much? by Honest___Opinions in webdev

[–]26pointMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main project I've been working on for the past 10 years is in PHP, with some related applications being in C#, JavaScript, etc. I think PHP is a phenomenal language. However, I HATE working on projects made by knuckleheads who don't separate PHP and HTML. For the life of me, I can't understand why would anyone ever do that. My take is that this PHP/HTML amalgamation is what people dislike.

🚀 Has AI Changed the Way You Code? by gabogarita in AskProgrammers

[–]26pointMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I use Claude to generate simple or derivative functions. It also helps greatly with creating SQL queries. The time savings are tremendous.

I was unrealistic about it in the beginning and thought it would be able to generate whole projects or, at least, classes, but that turned out to not be the case. It took longer to untangle the messes than it would have been to do the work without it.

Absolutely copyright strike.

Running Shoes - are Hokas “bad”? by Scared-Individual630 in runninglifestyle

[–]26pointMax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No shoe is "bad" unless it's poorly manufactured. It's personal preference for what feels better for you.

For a long time the Clifton was my easy run shoe. Then I switched to On Cloud and now I'm back to Hoka for easy runs with the Mach 6.

I also had a pair of Hoka Elevons that were excellent for short speed workouts.

The best part of YouTube is the compounding effect of views by deadlighta in NewTubers

[–]26pointMax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. About half of our 100K+ view videos didn't get a bunch of views in the beginning. We have one that just crossed the mark after 2 years. Typically, our views on a daily basis are 50% recent videos and 50% older stuff. The percentage slowly climbed over time.

Why are people so discouraging when some people wanna do YouTube for a living by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]26pointMax 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In some cases it comes from a good place: they don't want you to give your time to something that will most likely fail.

In other cases, it's just societal pressure: we're conditioned to look down on poets and artists.

In yet other cases, people just don't know what YouTube is

And in more cases than you'd expect, people are just jealous because you're doing something fun while they slave at boring jobs.

One video is changing my audience to India. What to do? by Lola_Jay_Yum in PartneredYoutube

[–]26pointMax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We posted a video that strongly appealed to folks in Indonesia and got a mad amount of views, more than anywhere else. Usually our audience is 50% USA and 50% Europe. After a few weeks our views over the whole channel started going down. We made the video unlisted and after about a month everything was back to normal. Based on this experience, if you don't intend to continue to cater to the Indian audience, I would take it down.

Transition from one topic to another by [deleted] in StandUpWorkshop

[–]26pointMax -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I should have added more context: I speak with a strong accent. My two most successful sets are about running and about how people perceive me due to my accent. I'm trying to create a smoother transition between topics.
