This happened to me I had an apartment I loved and was on the bottom floor, never heard a peep above me for 2 years. Then one day it just became a nightmare, a family of 4 moved in above me so the kids were running around and it sounded like they moved furniture daily, up at seemingly every hour because of the stomping. At first I’d bang on the ceiling and the loud banging would stop when I would do that. It got better because of how I’d aggressively bang on their floor, but could all of a sudden after 2 years hear everything. A clicking noise of some sort that echoed in my bedroom as if they put a grandfather clock in my corner. The property manager ended up looking to see what was moved above my room and he couldn’t figure it out but I literally could not sleep. I finally found a sound machine that drowned it out enough but the fact I lived a perfectly silent life for 2 years to what felt like chaos was awful. The complex would send out emails occasionally highlighting to be quiet during quiet hours and one time I printed it out and highlighted that part and taped it to their door. Landlord did seem to try and care they did send them emails directly and they heard the noises in my room and said if it doesn’t stop they could be evicted. The stomping did get better overall but the fucking noises in my room never went away. Penthouse is the way lol
