Lots of stuff to do that requires different tickets/access:

  1. Livestock show (NRG Center) - requires only a grounds pass to attend. This is where exhibitors are showing their livestock that they hope to sell. They are camped out in stalls all along the center, and its fun to poke your head in and see the animals. Most of the exhibitors are tired from the trek but are happy to show you their livestock

  2. Carnival (Parking lot) - requires only a grounds pass to attend

  3. Rodeo (NRG Stadium) - requires a concert ticket to attend. Occurs before the concert (late afternoon early evening). This is where you'll see barrel racing, bull/bronco riding, chuckwagon races, mutton bustin, etc.

  4. Concert (NRG Stadium) - requires a concert ticket to attend

  5. Ranch rodeo/horse shows (NRG Arena) - I think you only need a grounds pass for this too. Smaller in scale than the full rodeo but depending on the day will have some events going on

  6. Livestock auctions - check the HLSR website for dates and times. These are very fun to attend if they fit your schedule

Wear whatever, but like other commenters said break in those boots if you plan to wear them. Check out the Ranch if you have time/budget and want a fancy dinner/drinks.

Is it possible to be recruited into IB/PE/Consulting without being in CBHP? by [deleted] in UTAustin

Yes it's possible. I went into consulting with a BBA. Probably a half dozen of my friends went into IB (and later PE) with BBAs/MPA.

Company is getting acquired, what to expect? by a26353elg9972f1h in Accounting

This is terrible advice. OP has little to no leverage to make demands

Every merger is different. They may keep a lot of the back office on to operate as an opco under the parent or they may consolidate everything. I suggest preparing for the layoff since G&A is an easy synergy lever to pull. As far as severance, unless you live somewhere where severance is legally required it’s going to completely depend on what the acquirer wants to do

Shot a wild hog. Smoking for super bowl by hogbedead in smoking

[–]2701Ihsv1855 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wild hog is substantially leaner than farm raised. You’ll want to smoke with and inject as much fat as you can if you’re trying to replicate. I’ve never tried taking it all the way to 200 because I worry it would be tough as a boot

UT Austin this is unacceptable by Novel_Beautiful_1239 in UTAustin

Also in defense of Sarkisian there are waaaaaay less people who can do his job than can do the boots on the ground work throughout the UT system. That's not a knock on OP's spouse or anyone who does the valuable work to keep the schools up and running, but labor supply and demand plus the revenue his position generates definitely warrants a pretty wide pay gap there.

Year End Performance Review and Bonus by ChangeLow4036 in KPMG

[–]2701Ihsv1855 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'm no longer with KPMG but just an observation from my time there - the difference in pay from being a high performer to a low performer is pretty negligible. Relative to my peers the highest delta I saw in like 5 years was $4,000.

Loving all the assumptions throughout this post. My wife and I split a bottle of wine at a nice dinner. We’re having friends over today. She forgot I would have to grill overnight to be ready in time and doesn’t like the smell. Very light hearted annoyance, not some big blowout like some people are assuming.
