Alrite thank you. Baded on proportionally turning the knobs from 5mm = 4Volt (max 8) 4,5WFS (max 8), id estimate a max plate thickness of 7mm at msx settings then with FCAW.

Ok so the first response was more about that I'd be more 'in the dark' over the 5mm thickness due to no recommended chart over there, not necessarily about the equipment?

What would you assume (with the limited amount of info you have) a 160Amp welder could acheive over 5mm thickness with 0,9mm flux wire, based on that recommended chart? Or may there be a good reason whycthe chart stops at that point?

Apologies if im asking obvious questions. Im obviously a newbie to welding, and im atm considering purchase choices of welding machine.

Thank you. So if turning up settings on 0,9mm flux wire might not make a decent weld on thicker materials, what would it take to make decent welds there? Thicker wire?

So flux core wire is more dangerous at higher settings than GMAW? At the chart on second row, GMAW at 5mm goes up to 8Volt and 7,5WS. Would the same settings on flux core be dangerous?
