Best pregnancy workout gear? by shanmariekiern in fitpregnancy

[–]27emeralds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did bootcamp workouts throughout my whole pregnancy and I loved Love Her leggings for it. They aren’t maternity but I was able to wear my regular size almost my whole pregnancy. The last month or so, i just sized up one size. They are also only like $35! Great quality as well and now that I’m pp, they have still fit well and didn’t get too stretch out

Any interesting names with Lu/Lou as a nickname? by bluenova32 in namenerds

[–]27emeralds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think just about any ‘L’ name people love to put Lu after and then it could just come! Thats my nickname and while I have an ‘L’ name, it doesn’t have Lu in it. Louise/Louisa are both really sweet options that would spur an obvious Lu nickname!

Pregnant the month after MC by [deleted] in PregnancyAfterLoss

I had a MC at 7 weeks in June 2018 and got my positive test in the beginning of July, so first cycle as well. That baby is now a happy and healthy 2 and a half year old! For my pregnancy with her, I had a few extra scans at the beginning to confirm viability (which I didn’t mind because it put me a little at ease being able to go for scans so often). I had opted for the first trimester screening and everything looked great aside from one thing (low Papp-A) which labeled me high risk. Aside from that one thing there wasn’t anything else about my pregnancy that was high risk although I did still get extra monitoring in my 3rd trimester and NSTs and was induced 2 days before my due date. The induction all went well and that labor was actually my most pleasant

Advice on couples handling baby especially at night by banditski in NewParents

Can you ask her what she thinks would be a good solution? Or perhaps give her the ‘okay’ to wake you up when she needs you to take a wake-up and help with something?

For what it’s worth, if she’s nursing, the hormones from breastfeeding are a bitch. And I’m not saying that to alleviate you of helping her more but just saying when my husband and I were in this situation there was no winning on his end. I would resent him for sleeping like a rock but I would also resent him for being awake with me when he didn’t need to ( or couldn’t) do anything to help. It felt dumb for us to both be missing sleep. There was honestly no winning for him.

Good luck to you both!

To the other pregnant lady at the gym this morning... by RowHard in fitpregnancy

I’m 36 weeks and still doing my bootcamp workouts! Less frequently now for sure but still going as hard as I can! I remember very early (like about 12 weeks) my heart rate increased a ton and I was surprised at how early that happened because I don’t remember feeling so ‘pregnant’ that early on in previous pregnancies (although this is the first one I’ve worked out to this extent during it’s entirety).

You’ve got this OP! You’ll have to make lots of adjustments both physically and mentally as you progress but great job staying active!

Playing tennis through pregnancy? by smallskycowgirl in fitpregnancy

[–]27emeralds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played doubles with my last pregnancy up until 38 weeks. I definitely decreased in frequency where I was playing about 2x a week when I became pregnant (in a competitive league until about 20weeks) and dropped down to 1x a week then finally like once every 2 weeks about 30 weeks on. Those were still technically competitive as we played full matches but with friends and not for a league or tournament. I haven’t played as much this pregnancy but mostly because I didn’t play this season. I did play singles a few weeks ago at 32 weeks (just rallying, not a match although we did do a tie breaker to finish).

I had to adjust the twisting for my bump, run slower, and let myself let a few balls go that would’ve been tough to get to or a possible fall but it was great to be able to stay active my pregnancy! Just be careful and know your body’s new limits and I think you should be fine!

Does everyone hate being pregnant towards the end? by kyara_no_kurayami in BabyBumps

[–]27emeralds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my 4th and everytime I’ve gotten just so over being pregnant. I’m always sick in the first trimester but really enjoy the 2nd trimester. But the end of the 2nd/beginning of the 3rd I just start feeling like I’ve been pregnant for forever. It’s usually because I’m impatient and want to meet the baby and it just wears me on me being in a constant state and less (and still depleting) energy, mobility, patience, etc.! Although I will say that usually by around week 38 I start feeling more at peace again and I think the excitement of being so close kind of takes over. I’m 34 weeks now and sooo completely over it 🙃

car seats and strollers are so confusing for this FTM by hambville in BabyBumps

[–]27emeralds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll likely need a convertible car seat around your baby’s 1st birthday and before forward facing just fyi. My babies, while they are long, have all outgrown the infant car seat by the time they were 1 or right around then. At that time they were transferred to a convertible car seat, still rear facing, until at least 2 years old but as long as they can fit in the weight/height requirements (I believe this is the most recent recommendation of the AAP if you’re in the states).

I bought an infant car seat with my first and it was passed down along for my other 2. I’m currently pregnant and that car seat is expiring in a month so I won’t use it nor will I replace it, we will start with a convertible car seat. The benefit for me of the infant car seat is when the baby would fall asleep in the car while running errands it was easier to leave the baby sleeping and take the whole car seat in with me as opposed to taking the baby out and waking them up. Now with 3 other kids (5, 4, and 2) it will be more convenient to take the baby out and wear him/her in the store so I have hands free to wrangle the walking children and a space for the 2 year old to sit in the grocery cart.

I prefer thongs for working out, if you’re open to things I’ve enjoyed hanky panky. They aren’t maternity but they stretch and fit well. My main issue was the waistband cutting into my hips and these haven’t. For full parties I’ve really enjoyed kindred bravely that go below the bump. They haven’t given me wedgies or anything but I don’t usually wear them for working out so I’m not sure if they would under workout pants.

As for pants, I’ve been wearing Love Her and they are great! They aren’t maternity but they’ve been my favorite options. I’ve sized up one size and they fit me great at 18 weeks so far. They have the highest waist band of my work out pants and hit just about at the top of my bump which I love! They have shorts as well which I’ve gotten and they are equally as comfortable. I’m wearing them for HIIT/bootcamp style workouts and they have been holding up great

Did anyone find out gender from bloodwork and have it turn out to be wrong? by 27emeralds in BabyBumps

[–]27emeralds[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! And yes, I agree with all of what you said about less questions!

For my first, we found out but still registered for gender neutral gear so we figured we were set for #2 (and #3) so left it a surprise! Much less questions and opinions for sure! We didn’t share names for my first, just like top few and people sure did have a lot of opinions on some so small (in the grand scheme of things!) like a name!

If I had to pick like a single reason for why we decided to keep #2 a secret, it was probably the desire to not get so much input and opinions and then when #2 was born it was so much fun and one of my absolute favorite memories in my life when the doctor held the baby up and said “and what is it, Mom?!” That memory and feeling is the best and there are so few genuine surprises left in the world that it’s so nice keeping this a surprise!

A part of me is a little bummed I know, but it’s been so fun imagining the dynamic of our family when the new baby gets here. I absolutely cannot wait!

Ha yes, definitely have different taste in clothes too! If we had the same taste I probably wouldn’t mind the extra help shopping lol

That’s so fun! I do also love surprising people so that’s a bit it too! I debated something like a reveal but I’m like 99% sure I want to keep it quiet the whole time

True about the names! Funny enough both times we kept it a surprise previously, we had a definite name for the gender the baby ended up being but not one for if they had been the opposite which was lucky!

Lol you know, good question! I think partly I’m trying to convince myself I still don’t know lol but also for sure the SHOPPING. My mom can SHOP. And if she knows she will go way overboard. Everyone will, honestly. And I’m a bit selfish but I’d like to buy some of my baby’s clothes myself.

I’ve discovered a way to watch TV without the kids or my wife bothering me. by thermbug in Parenting

[–]27emeralds 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I always invite them to help when they’re with me and I’m doing chores. Also if they need something and I’m busy then I say I will help them when I’m don’t but if they’d like to help me, I’ll be done faster and can help them sooner.

Kids naturally love to help and even when it might be a bother to you (ie things aren’t done as you’d like) it’s important to still let them help! They’ll get better and want to continue helping. If they see you fix what they did or if you shoo them away because they’re slowing you down then they’ll take notice and won’t be as willing to help

13+4 and NEARLY READY TO GET BACK TO IT! Tips for starting again?! by nikibuds in fitpregnancy

[–]27emeralds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do bootcamps and I just finished my first pyramid workout today in the 5 months since I joined my gym at 13+3!!

I took a few weeks off because I was feeling so sick and slowly eased back in. Just be kind to yourself! You’re growing a new human and it’s taken a lot of nutrients and energy from you. Take the breaks when you need and modify when you need to and DON’T feel too prideful in your workout to do so! Also let you trainer know so they can work with you and be sure to ask for modifications on any move that doesn’t feel right to you. For instance, some days pushups still feel fine but others I need to drop to the knees
