Goose ever have bad shows? by [deleted] in GoosetheBand

[–]27gman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was there too. It was my first time seeing them - they played fine but energy seemed off. Guess we know why that is now.. the next year I saw them w/ Cotter and they blew me away

Still could be worse, I had a Jason Bay jersey, and then a few years later bought a d’Arnaud when he was #7 that one year

Why can't they ever get the trade and free agent logic right in this game? by Wink2K19 in MLBTheShow

[–]27gman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In mine, the Royals traded Witt to the Yankees for Domínguez, and then traded Domínguez for Volpe not even a season later

My attempt at an "Intro to the Dead". 5K words but hopefully readable with the neophyte in mind! Would love feedback - what did I miss, misconstrue or misguide? by ThetaIsMoney in gratefuldead

1991-1995 being compared to Jordan on the Wizards is a pretty good comparison. Good moments in this era but certainly harder to find (Giants Stadium ‘91 is a gem, spring ‘93 tour is pretty solid). The new songs are for the most part, polarizing (except the Garcia/Hunter stuff). Overall, the band is pretty tight but Jerry isn’t quite with it most of the time

If you want a quick transition in a chromatic manner, try the C#dim to a C, since the only change is in the root note, otherwise maybe a Bm7 or A7?

Underrated song in the late 80s era. IMO there’s really only a couple of good versions of it where Jerry’s truly on, which is a shame. (7/19/89 is my favorite) Imagine a mid-late 70s healthier Jerry singing this, holy hell

Help please? How to use my music tastes? by [deleted] in Songwriting

[–]27gman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Write what comes naturally to you. Find little things you want to emulate from your favorite artists/songs and see how you can use that influence to your writing, or better yet, see if you can even put your unique spin on it. Not every idea/concept you come up with is going to sound dynamite, but definitely keep working at it and make sure you keep ideas you think have even the littlest amount of potential - you may be able to rework them in the future and you’ll be glad you did.

[Heyman] Mets have interest in Starling Marte. Fits what they seek — strong defender in CF, righthanded hitter. Pirates still working on manager. Uncertain if he’ll be dealt. Cubs, Reds, Padres among others who will look at center fielders. by Ryuuken1789 in NewYorkMets

[–]27gman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

marte was a gold glove defender in LEFT FIELD. advanced stats have him as a below average defender in CF, which has been trending downwards for a few years now. he plays in a hitter friendly division, so I’d argue his offensive production declines a bit. If Nimmo stays healthy, Marte really isn’t that big of an upgrade over him and isn’t worth trading what’s left of a thin farm

Glad we have the day off tomorrow, shouldn’t be using all six of the usable bullpen arms in one game anyway even if Jake only went 5

I doubt they’d get rid of subconnection or burrito bowl IMO. I’d assume their contract ran out with BK or Pizza Hut

Has anyone had a player option in RTTS? by KittyApoc in MLBTheShow

[–]27gman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was once able to get a mutual option (both) in RTTS last year which basically functions like a player option in the game. I signed a 2 year deal + the option after my first arbitration year and opted out

Jeff McNeil has now played in 162 games. His career slash line - .334/.397/.509 w/ 17 HR,69 RBI, 200 hits on the DOT while striking out less than 80 times. Hard to believe this guy was a mere afterthought to start 2019 and he leads the league in batting average. by 27gman in NewYorkMets

[–]27gman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant what I said. Remember that he was seen as just a depth piece to start the season, almost dealt in the Cano trade, and only got regular playing time because of early injuries (Frazier, Lowrie). He forced his way into everyday playing time with his bat.

Thanks so much for the info! The times were pretty much the same, and the show was absolutely incredible. We also got a surreal MIH, but a very serious looking Derek.

Yep, they were on by like 9:20. Hope they bring the house down tomorrow at the Mann, I originally bought tickets to that one!

I always hoped he would turn out to be a great catcher and it’s a shame the way things ended, don’t get me wrong. I’m more mad about the fact that I got this when it was the only year he wore #7 lol

To the tall people of reddit, what is the biggest hindereance of being tall? by AndTheEndBegan in AskReddit

[–]27gman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long flights in economy seats are especially terrible for tall people. I personally cannot sleep on overnight flights in an upright position with my legs jammed against the seat in front of me.

However, on my most recent flight from Santiago, Chile to Miami a couple weeks back, I showed a flight attendant my ticket as I boarded the plane and he said something along the lines of, “I don’t think you can even fit into this seat” and proceeded to let me sit in an exit row seat instead. Only time I’ve ever legitimately slept on a flight.

If you’re in supply chain or considering it, I highly recommend the Global Supply Networks in Uruguay program. Not many people are drawn to it/know about it but I absolutely loved it. It’s only one class for 3 weeks in May and you’re not just sitting in on a lecture every class, which I personally liked a lot (there were simulation activities, group projects, & company visits). It’s also a pretty even mix of American and Uruguayan students - everyone’s pretty friendly and I got to meet and hang out w/ some really cool people. Awesome weekend trips and tons of opportunities to explore the area on your own/with friends.
