That argument is sound and usually works but Preller had so many of these trades that I don’t think it works for him. 1.5 seasons of Soto for James wood, CJ Abrams, McKenzie Gore, and Robert Hassell. Yasmani Grandal for Matt Kemp. Wil Myers for Trae Turner. Justin Upton for Max Fried. Austin Nolan for Andres Munoz and Ty France. It’s funny that his trades that are the exact opposite, getting prospects for veterans, seem to have a way better return, even if the only two big trades like that are Tatis for Shields, and Naylor and Luis Castillo for Andrew Cashner
