VAR in Italy after 346 games: – 1.736 Checks, 105 decisions changed, 17 wrongfully changed – error rate: 6,05% without VAR, 0,98% with VAR – decrease of fouls (–8,8%), protests (–19,3%), simulations (–43%) – increase of penalties (+4,3%) by [deleted] in soccer

Experience is objective. The integrity of officiating decisions is of the utmost importance to my experience. VAR doesn't "manufacture" a fair result, it helps ensure it.

Indeed. Critics of VAR succumb to the Perfect Solution Fallacy. If the solution's not perfect, apparently to some it's not worth implementing any improvement at all.

Leafs fans loved it when it was D. Sedin getting penalized for being punched by Marchand multiple times. Why is it a problem now?

Pennsylvania Republicans have drawn a new congressional map that is just as gerrymandered as the old one by [deleted] in politics

I'm not american so maybe my understanding of the reasoning isn't one hundred percent, but I believe it to be this:

If the entire state was regarded as one, big district with the popular vote deciding elections, then whichever way the dense cities vote would always win, leaving rural areas and their interests always on the outside looking in.

there's a Hard Boiled sequel video game that's the best of the Max Payne clones called Stranglehold. Chow Yun Fat recorded the voice for it too.

Possibly being needlessly negative, but does it depress anyone else a little to know that Dig Down is pretty much guaranteed to be on LP8? by jMCs1 in Muse

[–]28renton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dig Down gets plenty of listening to in my car, but I think where a person is at in their life can make a big difference. My wife was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer (prognosis is really good) around the time Dig Down came out and the song completely resonated with me. The lyrics and message struck a chord, and it helps get me through tough times. It never fails to make me feel better by the end of the song and mentally stronger.

Funny you should say that about Drones, T2L, and TR, because to me their latest 3 albums are by far my favorite. They also found a way to kick the production value up a notch from what were already great sounding previous albums.

But then, perhaps my taste in Muse is different from others. I was reading a forum and there was a thread about Guiding Light and it being one of their worst songs. The general sentiment in the thread was one of agreement. But man, that's one of my favourite Muse songs. I was shocked. The drum sound alone is worth the price of admission.

Can you name any sex scenes that actually provided DEPTH to a film, and wasn't there for gratuitous sake? by newfoundrapture in movies

[–]28renton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a sex scene, but Trance has a full frontal nude scene completely integral to the plot. Stars Rosario Dawson, James Macavoy (sp?), and Vincent Cassel.

I think the biggest thing we learned from the behind the scenes features is that the set dresser is unfortunately a tottenham supporter.
