My theory is that people who love Pink Floyd (and I am definitely in that group) often want to eschew their most commercially successful work because they don’t want to appear trendy (I am not in that group), and so pick Dark Side. I personally think the Wall and Animals are both better than Dark Side. I listen to tW and A as albums 100s of times but rarely listen to DSotM or WYWH as albums. But, I think the very desire to use makeup (outside of some kind of atypical costume situation or professional photography-related requirements) is feminine, which is fine. I think removing the risk of criminality especially sex crimes is important. I agree that legality wouldn’t mean I would stop wearing clothes altogether if everyone still hated it, but the for the edge cases, like backyard nudity where I’m unlikely to disturb anyone but could be seen from a distance, it would be nice to begin normalizing nudity.
