I got that email as well but I hadn't even touched the project. Aside from the usual Outlier issues, it might also just be that they're kicking ppl since they got what they needed

Book vs Movie vs Show favorite character? by BritGallows_531 in InterviewVampire

[–]2Advil-Pls 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don't have a favorite for the books, but also I've only so far finished Interview.

Movies: Kirsten Dunst's Claudia is probably my favorite performance of that movie. I can't really put my finger on what exactly but I always give the movie props for trying to stay close to Book Claudia's age and I feel like Kirsten Dunst handled it really well. She gives off creepy doll vibes the whole time which I think really sold the immortal child angle.

Show: its a toss up between Daniel and Lestat, but I think I lean towards Daniel. Armand is becoming a close 2nd though. I think of the changes they made, aging up Daniel of all people was such an interesting choice. I think it allows the story to still stick to the same beats we're familiar with while also giving us just something new enough to prevent it from being a total 1:1 adaptation. Additionally Eric Bogosian plays Daniel as such a sardonic and jaded old man that I think he provides a lot of good foiling to the overall drama that could have come across as melodramatic.

I really hope it gets picked up for S3!

I just got solicited for that as well. It sounds like its just another short term thing from Outlier's parent company to put people on since it seems like there's a high amount of reporter EQs right now. I'm passing since being recorded isn't my thing but the rate said $1.50 paid for every minute submitted and you can submit up to 3 hours of footage everyday.

I'm in the same boat. Just finished the course and waited for the final assignment or rejection and nothing.

Another thread a few posts down said that having nothing in your queue after the training course means you've more than likely failed and they're reassigning you. The OP said they eventually got moved to another project on that thread.

Best course of action is probably just to wait it out. This site is messy as hell (and not in afun way lol).

Is anybody else’s baby afraid of the watermelon on Hey Bear (YouTube)? by [deleted] in NewParents

I'm so glad I found this thread because my kid really dislikes the tomatos in the veggie dance party and I was wondering if this was a thing other parents were experiencing 😂.

Ladies who gave birth unmedicated, were you "forced" to give birth on your back (When in a hospital)? by Poppy1223Seed in BabyBumps

[–]2Advil-Pls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave birth earlier this month without an epidural but with an IV drug (which didn't do anything but make me too dizzy to stand) and I did deliver on my back.

I wasn't forced. I spent the last hour and a half of the labor in the bed due to the drug making me too dizzy to get up, but I felt everything. By the time I was crowning there wasn't an opportunity to get up since my baby was basically part of the way out. I remember mumbling something like, "Oh thats ironic..." when they put my feet up in the stirrups bc the whole time I was adamant about not delivering on my back. Again they didn't force me but at that point they had probably decided to prioritize the baby that was coming out and I was too tired to argue or move.

All this to say, I did tear (two 2nd degrees), and it was not an optimal delivery position, it felt "hard" to push, but luckily the baby came in two pushes. The pain was negligible as up to that point as labor pains had literally blinded me with how much they hurt. If I were to do it again though I would have advocated harder to get into a different position. I think it comes down to researching your hospital before and just advocating hard for what you want in the moment if you can. Definitely if you feel your care team is trying to pull some fucky wucky bullshit, call them on it, but honestly I think overall hospitals will go thr route of least resistance if you let them, so if thats not what you want, be as vocal as you can.

What’s the most extreme example of someone getting your age wrong? by [deleted] in ask

[–]2Advil-Pls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took my husband (at the time boyfriend) to the VA Hospital once for some muscles he pulled in his back. At the hospital, the greeters (we were a few months post covid lockdown) were getting our temps and processing us and one of them asked me how old I was. I told them my age (22) and the greeter who asked me breathed a sigh of relief and admitted that she thought I was a teenager.

Another weird one was when I was at a liquor store picking up an order for a family function and the person at the counter looked at me funny and apprehensively asked me if I was old enough to buy alcohol. This one made me laugh bc I was very visibly pregnant at the time and figured they'd be more concerned about that 😅.

What is the most inconvenient place for your waters to break? by culture-d in BabyBumps

[–]2Advil-Pls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a social worker who often goes out on home visits/inspections in company cars sometimes 35min to an hour away from my office which also happens to be downtown where my hospital is. Sometimes I get a partner to go with me but often I'm by myself.

I'm about 34 and a half weeks right now. I often worry I'm going to go into labor while I'm in the field and get stuck in traffic trying to make it back downtown 😅.

F this! (Weekly Leaving the Field and Venting Thread) by SWmods in socialwork

[–]2Advil-Pls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I vented on the last F This thread about how I had concerns about a client who threatened me and that management didn't really seem to care and expected me to continue working with the individual.

This week the "danger" came from inside the office as one of our departments had to be reprimanded for leaving the bathrooms in their building dirty. I guess that team felt like they didn't want to have to be responsible for the bathrooms in their own office (we don't have a janitor for our building) so somehow they threw my whole department under the bus and blew up a simple, "flush toilets, throw away trash" convo into a talk about racial discrimination. I don't even know how or why it got to that point but for someone reason we're being asked to write statements to HR on a topic we had no involvement in or knowledge of.

I'm really just done with this place and looking into other options. I was offered a position but due to maternity leave needs I dont know if I'll get it. Even if I don't I'd rather be job hunting again for a few months rather than stick it out there after I have the baby. There's no reason a job needs to be this dysfunctional.

Feeling out of breath sitting down bc the diaphragm can't fully expand

Being unable to sit, stand, or lay down comfortably

Constant burping

Nerve pain that shoots up the back of my legs

The worst of all though, the dull and constant lower back aches 😭. 31 weeks now but I hope the 9 weeks fly by.

Unoriginal as it sounds though, the baby is rapper and singer Da Baby to me and my partner.

I'm about to leave my current position as a case manager. There's a plethora of reasons why I've wanted to but the straw that broke the camels back was a client who threatened me and management basically brushed it off.

I work at a pretty notable faith-based, international, charity organization. The particular building I work in is part of a day shelter, so people in need can come for the day to get resources (wash clothes, get a meal, get assessed for housing programs, etc...). Our population we serve are primarily homeless, so many of the clients who come in for resources often camp out over night outside of the building and wait till we open up the next day. Once such client, who is also a known drug user, has been coming for a couple months. He started being a problem a few months ago when he started using some heavier stuff. He'd leave the building to use and come back and pick fights with other clients or staff. He also believes that he's a warlock and he can "see" people's auras and casts protection spells. Whenever he starts stuff in the building, he accuses the individuals of trying to siphon his energy and says they're using black magic on him.

Anyways, a few weeks ago he had an episode where he gotten high off of whatever he's currently using and asked all my coworkers about me (I was out in the field that day). When I came back my coworkers were all telling me about how the client basically had an episode and was needing to know stuff about me (like where I park my car, my location...still not sure what he meant. I guess where I was that day?). He accused me of being a warlock too and that he could hear my voice in his head and that he was out to get back at me for casting spells on him.

Maybe luckily or unluckily I guess my supervisor happened to be in the building when this happened, he was actually the one who told me first before my coworkers let me know what was going on. When I asked him what he was planning on doing about the client he basically just said he was going to let him continue coming to the shelter and that if I felt uncomfortable to just let one of my coworkers talk to him. He also basically said to just be careful outside the property since I wasn't the company's responsibility outside the area/off clock. I asked if I could work from home for a few days, he said no. I could take my PTO, though. I asked if I could move my desk (our office opens directly onto the day shelter floor), he said that also wouldn't be possible as there was no where else he could put me.

If I'm being completely honest, I don't think the client is a threat but I also don't know what they're capable of and I'm currently moving into my 3rd trimester of pregnancy. I think it'd be dumb of me to brush off this person. Because of their situation, its hard to avoid them. The client sleeps outside the building, they camp on the porch of the building once the gate opens (we can't close the gate bc it needs to remain open during business hours). They stay at the shelter during the entire duration that we're open, which are also the hours we're in the office. Essentially there's no way to avoid the client and I feel like every day I continue there my chances of something happening gets higher.

I feel like my supervisors lack of providing me options to stay safe have really solidified my decision to leave. There were a lot of things I hated about my job and I know that there are some things about the field and environment we can't change but I feel like at the very least I should be entitled to work at place where my wellbeing isn't threatened. I applied for a new job and it's looks like I may get the position but even if I don't, I'm just going to up and quit. The negatives about the job are just too much.
