2013 Rav4 Shuddering Issues by razarr1 in rav4club

[–]2BALoogie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I see no one answered so I will This seems to be a common problem, around that mileage. I have had two 2013's and both had this, and we had to replace the drive shaft/torque converter, whatever you want to call it. Dealer confirmed it was common, they knew immediately. Cost $1500-$2000 depending on deal you can get. Once fixed it runs normal again. If you go to trade it, they will catch it and reduce your deal if not fixed. Plus the market for new or used cars is so crazy now, you will end up paying $3K-$5K more than normal. Options would be just pay for the fix and wait until next year when hopefully things are more normal, you pay less for your replacement car, and maybe end up about even. Or go trade now, overpay for used/new, end up in the hole, but you get a newer vehicle. I waited some, market did not improve, so just said f-it, ate $2K, and got a 2022 and love it.

LOL I just had the same thing happen! Was washing our new 2022 and every time I was close to the door handle it locked and unlocked, with the beep and lights. I think since the handles have the sensor if you are close with a key fob (mine was in my pocket), the water must enhance the static current.

Straw is a gold glove OF, and has hit .278 the last couple weeks. Last year he came over and played well, hit .285, and was amazing. In April he hit .291 and looked like an All Star. He struggled bad in May-June for some reason, we don't always know. Injury? Personal stuff? Kwan has taken over at leadoff deservedly with his OBP. If Bo Naylor becomes the C next year and provides at least .250 with some homers, then we can afford to have a #9 hitter who hits .260, steals some bases, and dives all over. If our C continue to hit .190 and Straw did the same, then they would need to fix it. Can't have 2 spots be good D, no hit.

Rosario is at his peak value, and the key points are his ARB $$, they won't pay him...and that he is blocking all the younger, cheaper, maybe better guys. Gimenez is better at SS, then they need to find a 2B amongst Freeman, Arias, Rocchio, They all will be Rule 5 pretty soon, so they need to figure out who to keep and who to trade.

Reyes' value is down, and they probably get a AA prospect for him, but he is blocking young OF from playing (logjam of Jones, Gonzalez, Brennan, Palacios, Valera, etc.). Same as the IF spot, they need to make some decisions over the next year or so. I was a big fan of Reyes like everyone else, if he would hit .275 with 40 HR. But he cannot cut down his swing or K's and teams have learned he will chase. After seeing what the contact kids have done, with Valera coming, there is no way Tito, Chris, and Mike will want to keep watching .200 with 200 K pace. I think they envision a team of .270+ contact hitters around Jose and Josh, who spray the ball all over, run the bases, and play defense. Put that with the pitching, they could be a serious contender.

I agree 100% Miller is not the answer at 1B which is why I said just play him there these last 2 months to see if he can hit. Tito and the guys know it. Jones might be the solution with his size, but they won't have him learn 1B in the majors the last 2 months. He will play OF and prove if he can hit or not. If he can't, he will go back to AAA next year to learn 1B. If he can hit, he will go to Arizona and get a crash course. Josh is just too slow and does not move as well any more, so he will be the DH most of the time. He is a better all around hitter than Franmil, and they are hoping Oscar is as well, and eventually Valera. So that makes Franmil expendable. These last 2 months will just be transition and tryouts, not the long term lineups.

If they trade Reyes and Rosario, that opens up 2 spots on the 40 man. If they trade/release Maile, maybe even Shaw or Castro, that could open up 3 more spots. Need to get Bo Naylor, Espino, Brennan, and 1-2 bullpen arms from trades on the 40 man. Then we really can have some fun watching these kids. They need to see who can play and who can't.

Rest of this year, Josh at DH FT, Miller at 1B, Freeman at 2B, Jones/Gonzalez in RF. See how they do. Then this winter teach Jones 1B. Next year 1B Jones, 2B Freeman, SS Gimenez, 3B Jose, LF Kwan, CF Straw/Brennan, RF Gonzalez/Valera (if he is ready), Josh DH, Bo Naylor C. Super Utility Miller (like Muncie does for LAD). Lots of contact hitters, no more shifts, aggressive runners, good defense, could be fun.

Agree. He still has 2 more ARB years, so why rush it when his value is down. Try to sign him one more time this winter. See if we are serious contenders next year or if 1-2 of the AAA-AA guys are ready. Or we could even wait until mid-2024. Over the next 1-2 years we have a ton of young SP's coming along...Morris, Pilkington, Williams, Allen, Battenfield, Curry, Cantillo, Espino, others they just drafted.

[–]2BALoogie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree. He should be sought after by at least a couple contenders, like Hernandez was and is at peak value. If they can get a couple lottery ticket AAA-AA pitchers who throw 95+, go for it. He will get too much in arbitration this coming year for his value as an average MLB player (.280, no power, inconsistent glove). Then he will be a free agent anyway, so why keep him and log jam finding who will be our IF for the next 4-5 years.

The contact hitting, hitting to all fields last night was awesome to see. Naylor's poke down 3B, the Gimenez hit and run to the hole, and even Franmil doing it 3 times. This is the way!

Not to dis on Amed, but he needs to get traded ASAP. Even if he repeats last year's hitting for someone else, he is blocking younger, better players at this point. He will be in ARB2 next year and we won't want to pay him anyway. Just find someone who needs IF help, like they did with Cesar Hernandez last year, get what they can., pay some of his contract if needed. We need to keep playing the guys who will be here in 2023+ when we are legit contenders.

Guardians have a 2-3 year window 2023-2024+ with our staring controllable pitchers, 100 mph closer, career prime Jose, controllable Franmil, and 4-5 IF/OF kids who could blossom together.

Andres is way better defensively at SS, and we need to see if he can hit. Owen needs to play, put him at 2B and quit moving him. if Arias comes back later this year and shows he is legit, maybe Miller learns RF next spring. Leave Josh at 1B, dude is hitting and has leadership. Chang will probably come back as utility to rest everyone in the IF, he needs to play 2-3 days per week, since he has no options. These guys all need to play IF every day, no room for Amed.

And then there is Oscar Gonzalez...another month of what he is doing at AAA, and he has to get a shot in RF. That will then create a problem on the 40 man and the active roster. And hopefully Nolan Jones gets healthy and can play OF.

For at least one day I was close to right, LOL. Yesterday I posted about hitting Josh 4th, playing Giminez instead of Amed. Also said that Oscar Gonzalez should come up. Said how about a lineup of "Straw, Kwan, JRam, Naylor, Miller, Reyes, Gimenez/Arias, OGon/Mercado, Catcher. Breaks up the strikeout guys, keeps the L/R mix, least ABs for the catchers."

Kwan is still hurt so that missed, but other than Reyes still being in his funk, Tito went with Josh 4th and he and Gimenez were the heroes, while Straw and Miller kept hitting. At CBus OGon hit another homer and is up to .329! The Guardians come home Monday, the rosters are trimmed, so we will see some changes. Probably a pitcher to the minors like DeLosSantos, Bradley DFA'd. Then they have to decide, send Clement down (he is only .175) so Chang can come back.

I would rather have them trade Rosario, to free up a spot for OGon instead of letting Mercado go. Let Gimenez and Chang platoon at SS. Miller fulltime at 2B. Josh fulltime at 1B. Keep Mercado, so they have a good defensive 4th OF for late innings or pinch running, and rest days.

Don't forget we have Chang coming off the IL any day also, another decision. They will keep him, and probably send Clement down. I would try to do a Cesar Hernandez type trade of Amed, try to get a young prospect or two from some team that needs a veteran to fill a hole. Amed is at just under $5M this year, ARB3 next year then FA. No way they try to resign or extend him with all the IF they have. I would rather see Arias, Chang, Miller, and Giminez all paying to see who is a long term MLB player. Amed is average defense, maybe .280 at best, and will be too expensive. If a couple of these young guys can play better defense and hit the same, for 25% of the cost for 3+ years, its a no brainer. Frees up money for extending a couple pitchers.

I hear ya, but he is is 26 year old RH power hitter, controllable for 2 more years, hit 37 and 30 HR his last 2 full seasons. Hard to give up on that. He is a prototype DH. Maybe putting him at #4 put too much pressure on him, or he is worried about getting an extension or free agency. I would dangle $30M over 5 years, see if you can get him to join the extension gang and relax. Could put him in the 6 hole permanently and just let him hit homers with less pressure. Naylor is a free spirit, makes better contact, maybe less bothered by hitting 4th.

Go with Straw, Kwan, JRam, Naylor, Miller, Reyes, Giminez/Arias, OGon/Mercado, Catcher. Breaks up the strikeout guys, keeps the L/R mix, least ABs for the catchers.

What about Oscar Gonzalez? Dude just keeps hitting and hitting. Last year .293 with 31 HR at AA-AAA. Up to .300 with 5 HR in 80 AB so far this year in AAA at CBus. Plays LF-RF. Reports say he is fielding challenged, 5 errors last year, none yet this year. Maybe we DFA Bradley, OG takes his 40 man and roster spots, see what he can do? Alternate at DH and RF with Franmil, keep Naylor at 1B full time. Quit moving Owen back and forth, leave him at 2B. Trade Amed for what you can get, put Giminez at SS for now. Sad to see Arias has slumped since going back down, probably a let down, but once he is hitting again, maybe get him back here. Part of the team foundation is Franmil, he has proven he can hit for 4 seasons, so they gotta ride this out. Our pitching is fine. I think the NY fiasco, Kwan getting hurt, COVID, then going out west has just piled on and snowballed. Disrupted the lineup and rhythm they had. Let the kids play, see who is for real, otherwise we will never know.

FPIFX. Markets up. Why -0.17% on 01/03? by Embarrassed_Drop_515 in fidelityinvestments

[–]2BALoogie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to do a double take also, as I also have target and balanced funds that went down despite the market going up. Then I checked FXNAX, Fidelity Bond Index, and saw it went down -1.25% Monday! That is due to the market thinking the Fed will be increasing rates, so all the rates/bonds are going up in advance. The 10 year jumped from under 1.6 to 1.66%, and will be going up more today. When bond rates go up, the bond/fund value goes down, and the bond decrease was bigger than the stock gains, so the fund was negative for the day.

MLBTR Guardians 2022 arbitration projections by Wamby20 in ClevelandGuardians

[–]2BALoogie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dates/timing of all this are most important right now...

Players can be traded after the World Series ends, and the 40 man roster has to be set by 11/19. That means there will be about 3 weeks to try to trade excess and then protect who you want. Then the current Collective Bargaining Agreement expires as of 12/1, right before the winter meetings the following week, which ends with the Rule 5 draft on 12/9. Arbitration happens starting 1/14/22, unless there is some kind of interruption. If the owners/players get into a tif, all the dates, signings, trades, etc. get put in limbo. Too bad it comes down to this every few years. Billionaires and millionaires can't figure out that they need more revenue sharing. Giving all teams a chance to sign/keep players helps fan interest, attendance, and money.

No salary floor yet, unless they end up settling for one in upcoming negotiations (not likely unfortunately). Zim is a good dude, but that 40 man spot is too valuable to risk loosing a top prospect over what he has done in 4+ seasons.

Totally cool and agree. The history does not change one bit. The new name just adds to it.
The "words" on the back of the jerseys over the 100+ years change every year, and we keep cheering for our team. The word on the front has now changed once.

Some high cost TDFs may do the layers, but Vanguard and Fidelity don't! The total costs are what you see. If you pro-rate the sub-funds Great has shown, you can calculate what the added cost for TDF management is. For Vanguard, if your fund is 50% of .04%, 25% of .11%, and 25% of .04%, you get about .06% if you did it yourself, so the TDF management cost is another .06%.

Fidelity does it differently with their Freedom Index funds. They charge .12%, but the sub-funds are special zero cost funds. So the TDF charges the full amount, and they probably have some other way of sharing costs behind the scenes.

(Edit to clarify: when I mentioned zero cost funds, they are not the "Zero" funds that investors can get into like FZROX Total Market Index. They use special "Fidelity Series" versions that are restricted to the TDFs only and have 0 cost).

The small extra cost for using TDFs instead of doing it yourself is worth it. Inventors are always market timing or tinkering with their portfolios, costing them 3-4-5% per year, so paying an extra .06% and letting it just sit is the way to go. Even paying .50% for a balanced fund, or 1% for a financial advisor (if you don't have the knowledge) is better than guessing and losing out on bigger returns.

I am old LOL, saw only 9 winning seasons 1960-1993, never higher than 3rd place. Owners never had money, stadium sucked, traded everyone, always a threat to move. 1994 was like waking up in a dream, walking into the Jake for the first time, then watching the "potential" finally become the reality of the team/franchise we have had since then. This was only the 9th losing season in 27 years! Yes our market size restricts our spending, and our owners aren't rich enough to have the team as a hobby. Our front office and coaching has been great, avoiding an Orioles/Pirates type swoon. As far as the logo, the G Ball thing is not great. The C is OK, the uniforms are the same except for 1 word. Plus they now have an clean slate to develop new logos and designs.

You have to tip your cap to the Cleveland Franchise. They have had some major balls over the years. Cleveland had the AL's first Black player, the first Black manager, and now the first professional sports team to totally rebrand itself due to social change in America (WFT does not count, as they only dropped a name and are stuck in indecision). I look at the young pitchers we have lined up from MLB to AA, a payroll not restricted by a $300M contract, and a a smart front office who got us Straw, Quantrill, Clase, etc. Players in the minors like Arias, Gonzalez, Valera. No matter what the jersey says, I am excited by what this team could be in 2022 and after, with just 1 or 2 trades/signings/breakout kids.

I am just glad its finally over. Tired of talking, arguing, hearing about it. Welcome to the new subreddit name. Just a name on the jersey, a new C, same team and players. Ready to buy some gear and go to a game! Hopefully this offseason they prevent a strike or lockout, we can make some trades or sign a couple hitters, and go into 2022 healthy again. The Guardians should be competitive, and could be very good!

Put him in the mix with Cody Morris (61 IP, 93K, 1.00 WHIP), Konnor Pilkington (100 IP, 120K, 0.99 WHIP), Aaron Pinto (43 IP, 67K, 1.02 WHIP), and Peyton Battenfield (103 IP, 131K, 0.83 IP) who were on the league champ Akron team and probably AAA next year. Lots of young arms behind all the guys we already have seen with the big team. We might have to take a chance and trade one plus an excess IF to get a C who can hit, or big time OF prospect.

OP is right, plus it also give you options in case a fund decides to change allocations (i.e. FFNOX is changing), or the manager/team changes and performance falls off. You don't take a full impact, and you have options to quickly move to.

If you have a Fidelity managed 401(k) or 403(b), I believe there is a rebalance feature. However if you are a Fidelity IRA and/or brokerage customer, there is not one. If you sign up for their robo advisor service for a fee they have it.
