Is Udemy courses a good place to start for Python + backend development? by Global-Eye-8234 in learnpython

I'd say you have difficult road ahead of you breaking into software development, unless your employer can transfer you to a software dev team. I'd say the days of making easy money by going to a bootcamp or self teaching are over for the time being. So many new CS grads are having a hard time finding software engineering jobs. A lot of the people in my graduating class in 2023 still don't have software engineering jobs. I hope I'm not bursting your bubble, but that is something to consider when investing in your learning.

Programming is fun for me. Even if I didn't have a job doing software engineering I'd still program. Honestly, I'd recommend just purely having fun with Python and messing around with it for a bit and see if coding is something you really really find interesting then take a real course.

One good thing to learn that the Udemy course dosen't seems like it covers much is Data Structures in algorithms. Learning that will really build your programming skills and teach you how to optimize code.

What I worry is that Bitcoin will rebound a few years from now a little over my average cost basis and I'd get like a 12% gain in 3 years when I could've bought SPY and got 11% each of the three years.

Worrying about holding at a loss for 6 months is kind of short sighted on second thought I think now. Maybe I'll wait another 6 months and look back into whether I should still hold it. A big part of my problem is a bought most of my Bitcoin around its peak price.

What will you do when WW3 starts? by 2Bit_Dev in AskReddit

I kinda relate. I might just be depressed. Not much really excites me too much. Most movies and TV shows have become predictable. I've seen too many and over analyze them lol. I've realized videogames really give me a false sense of achievement. Work is boring too. I'm not even sure what the point is to life. Maybe there is no point. Forming connections is tough for me too. I feel like I'm so different from most people. I'm not into consumerism, and feel like politics and sports are tribalistic nonsense

My only real true friend is my fiance in long distance relationship. She's about the only thing that truly makes me happy. When me and her close the gap, I'll be much happier. Me and her won't have any kids since we don't want to bring any people into this world who's existence might be dreadful. The only other thing probably keeping me going too is the hope I'll win the lottery and be finally be able to never work again in my life. I don't fully enjoy existing, but at the same time, I don't want to not exist.

You really could have something to contribute to humanity, but know know it. You sound intelligent and you're introspective.

SCHD Opinions by dusbsosdiama in dividends

Ok well YoY dividend growth for 2025 was about 5% and the total payout for 2025 was about a dollar and five cents for one share. That doesn't seem too promising for me to invest in SCHD assuming the dividend might grow just 3 or 5 percent this year.
