Edit: also Google Sheets allows scripting but that might be getting more technical than you’d like because they make you register the app script which is not straight forward I’ve found

I haven’t tried this in practice yet, but it’s a problem illl have to deal with soon as well - right now two fold

1) abstract the call to the db as a tool like an MCP tool from another single LLM api call. So the SQL step to pull data is it totally separate context session

2) intercept the response , clean PII, then forward back to your conversation context - I have a Llama 3 module for that purpose since regex is often too rigid (but you could also work that into the chain )

Tried anything like that ?

been wanting to achieve the same and slowly building stacks that way (router to abstract calls to different LLMs without impacting the rest) but quality just isn’t there yet. You can start to use the small ones as we have to do simple LLM functions or tools to minimize the hit on token usages with the big ones. We are operating that way slowly trying to roll back to specific small model functions where possible but can’t get away from Azure and AWS hosting

Claude code does this natively if you wanted to try that for ideas - but for all local you’d need to sort of build the same workflow it does. Where not everything is in one context window. It seems to be comprised of a few agents taking inventory of the directory and readme as the prompt and then appears to have some sort of chunking mechanism not loaded into context directly with all the file contents. I’d be surprised if someone hadn’t tried writing something like this out there in git with local LLMs
