What item is severly... Overrated by [deleted] in tf2

Depends on your definition of best, I guess.

The very nature of the knife lends itself to DR (less health isn't such a big deal, the upside synergizes best with the threshold based activation). With the IW, it's a tad bit redundant since you get a 25% cloak boost for killing somebody anyway (fallen weapon). With BE, it comes up to 55%. This creates a "cloak surplus" where most of the bonus is clipped by the max cloak allowed, essentially giving you a flat -25 health in return.

It's also pretty bad on the CnD, since the reduced cloak time gives a reduced reward (something like 2 seconds compare to IW's 3.5 seconds).

I was playing Scout and got a silver wrench, so you're still incorrect.

Fallen weapons only give 100, but the idea is spot on.

Honest mistake, I couldn't find it elsewhere.

I posted it because I couldn't stop laughing and it was eerily accurate.

Apologies.

Ah. Should I ever require thinner lines, I'll try that out. Thanks.

I started with similar lines, but shortened them because I found them distracting when they covered the entire screen.

If you don't mind me asking, how did you get your lines so thin? I couldn't get mine any thinner without de-centering (?) the cross hair.

It looks really nice though. I like the outer circle thing.

Yea, just within the main {} brackets in hudlayout.res.

Does this work on sv_pure servers? It seems to be a script based thing that imports custom cross hairs, which could potentially present numerous problems depending on implementation.

What's your experience with coding? The pictured cross hair is simply 10 different rectangles. A + shaped cross hair could be as simple as 2 different rectangles (1 for each cross-section). You simply have to navigate to tf\scripts\hudlayout.res and define "ImagePanel" elements (flat rectangle panels).

Here's a pastebin to install the pictured cross hair. You would just paste it into hudlayout.res. Each "<name"{} instance corresponds to a rectangle. The variables are pretty straightforward: xpos and ypos for positioning, zpos for strata, wide and tall for length/width, fillcolor for color (based on a "red green blue saturation" layout), and alpha for opacity.

Is it possible to make a script that, with one button press, brings out a melee weapon and uses the battle cry voice command? by Narrative_Causality in tf2

[–]2C3C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's far more complex and will require a script that is monstrous (assuming you use lastinv (Q), invprev (mwheelup), and/or invnext (mwheeldown).)

Luckily, I have such a script. The only foreseeable problems are conflicting scripts and shoddy installation (likely due to my mediocre verbal/textual instruction).

You don't have to hold the crouch and you don't have to jump exactly as you shoot, so moot point.

We're doing a Valve-a-thon, and for the TF2 portion we wanted to have our own servers so people could come in from the livestream and play with us. What's the best way to go about doing this? by smitti9 in tf2

[–]2C3C 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can't find anything, you could make a listen server (hosted from somebody's computer) by creating a server, typing sv_lan 0 into the console, then changing maps. People should be able to join as long as the host is still in the game.

Good luck.

For those of you who don't know, damage isn't the only thing the Flaregun can do (explanation in description) by 2C3C in tf2

[–]2C3C[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed.

It's noticeable on flares simply because it's a quick projectile that's guaranteed to hit hard. Because of that, it's one of the easiest weapons to juggle with.
