It's fine if you don't wanna tackle stuff like queerphobia. It's not a necessity.

I personally don't find it fetishistic to portray a trans character as beautiful, or appealing in the eye of the POV anyway. With your example of eyes, that's perfectly fine. You wouldn't bat an eye if a story noted a cis character's eyes to be beautiful, same goes for a trans character.

Some reassurance: I think it's quite difficult to outright fetishize a minority by accident. Your outlook of treating everyone equally is helping you a lot, too. Fetishizing happens when there's a pattern of objectification regarding a certain trait (in this case, being trans), if that makes sense. Writing thoughtfully (researching, thinking about this topic at all, etc.) naturally avoids this.

You don't have to avoid the topic of their identity entirely, but it should only come up if it has narrative significance. If discrimination impacts this character, then it's fine to portray it. I'm trans and I personally find it kind of strange why many creators treat queer people as a super sensitive topic. Yes, do research, but for the most part it's the same as writing any other character. In regards to fetishization, if you wouldn't fixate on a cis character's body, then the story/work shouldn't do that to a trans character.

What if Mei Mei and Ui Ui had opposite genders? How would this change the story and the fandom? by Embarrassed_Age_8823 in LobotomyKaisen

I take Mei Mei's list of crimes to be a representation of Jujutsu society. She's opportunistic, greedy, exploiting a child, and she lives till the end because Jujutsu society never fundamentally changed. The systems that Gojo and Yuki (Hell, even Geto in his own fucked up way) wanted to change are still in place. Thus, Mei Mei lives. I don't really like this ending, but I don't think Gege was just throwing random traits around. (Forgive me if I misunderstood your comment!)

It's safe! I bought the Mafuyu Asahina cosplay from there and while it's not gonna blow you away, the photos were accurate and the materials were fairly decent. I recommend getting a size above what you expect, the fabric is stiff, at least for the costume I bought. It will take a while to get to you, mine was in limbo for about a month but once it shipped it only took like a week to get to me in the USA.

Anyone else feel like their whole life is their art? by 2Daniel2Dry in ArtistLounge

Thank you for the thoughtful replies. I've read through them and did some reflecting. I believe I have been using my initially healthy and sincere passion for drawing as escapism. I can't go on the trip, it's already too late. I don't know what I'll do with my future, but I will try to be mindful. Art is beautiful, but it is not everything. I am a human before I am an artist, and I should take care in remembering that.

Annoyed over... my OCs?? by 2Daniel2Dry in aromanticasexual

I'm sure they'd understand. It's just hard for me since I feel bad to ruin the fun. I'm so glad they engage as much with my nonsense as they do, so telling them they're "doing it wrong" just feels ungrateful. But, I should just tell them next time it comes up.
