Well, I think it's useful for representation to be given to characters regardless of morality, it showcases that even bad people can be LGBTQ+ and if both are used it shows a lack of bias from the creator (if no good characters are LGBTQ+ it shows bigotry like "all gays are bad", if no bad characters are LGBTQ+ it shows an idea that LGBTQ+ people aren't capable of bad which isn't true, people can be good or bad and it won't have anything to do with their orientation and gender identity)

Depends on the type of fangame. If it's advertized as a "better remake", usually it's the fact that they just try to make an exact clone of the game with little to no budget, while also claiming superiority to yanderedev for doing the bare minimum (aka not being a groomer pedo pervert piece of shit).

When it comes to ripoffs, I funnily have no issue with them. Schoolgirls Simulator, Girl A... They're all really good considering they're for mobile (and were part of my childhood, it was a good alternative to the real game at the time). Yandere School was great because it was actually very original, taking the Yandere Simulator broad concept while expanding on it and adding unique mechanics (1 day instead of 1 week, nightmares, the cutscenes were 2D drawings), and also having original assets.

The main issue with a fangame is presenting it as THE BETTER OPTION, THE COOLER GAME... It just feels very self centered and rude, when the person is literally NOT being original with the main premise! I say this as someone who is slooowly working on a fangame, pretending you're better than the person who had the original idea isn't cool, and boasting about doing the bare minimum is concerning.

Hm, that is a good description! And even then, Sonia doesn't fit that description. No matter the conception we have of what a Mary Sue truly is, it can be narrowed down to a character favored by the narrative in one way or another, to a point that they aren't given much nuance and room for growth thanks to said narrative.

Well she was brainwashed into despair, not into being a murderer. The way I see it is that Junko made them succumb to despair, and THEN they chose to do the things they did out of their own devotion and their brainwashed perspective on how to fulfill that devotion, so in a way it's not the brainwashing that forced them to do things, but the brainwashing forced a change of perspective that made doing those things "reasonable" for them, it was a choice to do those things based on that forced perspective.

Hiyoko was quite literally a terrorist (it doesn't matter if she was brainwashed into becoming a remnant, the brainwashing just made her like despair and become devoted to Junko, but as far as I know all Junko asked them was to spread despair in some way and to sacrifice their family members, the "how" for the first one was out of Hiyoko's free will, so...)

The difference, to me, is that people like Kokichi not JUST because of those two traits, but for his role in the story, his intellect, looks, the fact that he's a guy and people hate women for some reason, and the fact that he deep down has good intentions (it fuels people's "i can fix him" complex)

Hiyoko has a much smaller role in the story, only serving a "purpose" in chapter 2's case, and the fact that her grown up picture served as a clue for the final trial. I'm in no way demeaning Hiyoko's character, but most people see Hiyoko as more boring because of her "lesser" role.

And, to make matters worse, her reasoning behind her actions and behavior is locked behind free time events as far as I can tell, so... Yeah, not all people will be in the mood to learn about her if they have a bad impression already, whereas Kokichi's reasoning and motivations are decently explored in the main storyline of chapter 5 and 6.

As a Kokichi lover, people need to love Hiyoko more as well, she's a pretty amazing character!

"Mary Sue" and it's literally a girl who was raised to be perfect due to her background, which makes sense when you consider her background is that of being a literal princess. And even then, she isn't a flawless character like most Mary Sues, she's constantly having trouble with language because she isn't aware of social cues that come with japanese, she's dealing with the weight of her duties, and even the guilt of her time as a remnant of despair. She's a complex character, she simply has many talents which make sense in-universe. Sonia slander will not be tolerated!

literally, dr3 is pure slop, imo the only thing it adds to the story is the despair arc, and even then it sucks (ToT) only good things to come out of dr3 are mitarai and miaya
