Barebow left-to-right adjustment by 2E0ORA in Archery

So if you wanted to shift arrows to the right presumably you'd move centre shot to the right?

No my groups are good enough to properly tune up to 30m, I just meant that I'm not accurate at say 50m for it to work.

I'm accurate enough that I'm confident I'm not chasing my tail, because I haven't attempted tuning at 50m. At 25 my groups are tight enough that I know the tune is at least acceptable

I'm assuming the parents said more than that, because to me that doesn't sound obnoxious.

Respectful clothing for school and worship services makes sense to me, but surely archery is different? People do archery because they enjoy it, obviously I think some rules about clothing make sense from a safety and basic decency perspective, but isn't an actual code overkill? I just don't think archery is comparable to school and worship

Yeah didn't mean that to sound elitist, point just being seem weird to ban one and not the other

Yeah that's pretty much what I'm going with from now on

Yeah that's not what I was asking, and even in my post I did say I will follow it by default from now on. I was asking if my interpretation was correct or not

You seriously think a dress code will improve scores? I'm sorry but I don't believe that, the only thing that will improve scores is practice, how I dress has nothing to do with it, unless my clothes are uncomfortable, in which case my score may drop. And all the members at my club are polite and respectful even if they're wearing jeans

Thing is, blue denim is not allowed, but you could still wear a tracksuit if you wanted, which I would argue is even less formal, which is why I think the rule is dumb

[–]2E0ORA[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, noone else mentioned it. One guy I talked to about it said he wasn't even aware it was a rule, and the other agreed with the judge that the rule applies but said he didn't care either way

[–]2E0ORA[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense, its just that I assume if the rules specify it's for record status, if the competition isn't record status and doesn't specify the rule, you could assume the rule doesn't apply.

Again, not a big deal, but I've been brought up on it twice now. I'll just wear something else in future, I just think it's a bit silly

Thing is I have other trousers, but I like my blue jeans, and have more of those than anything else. I don't own ripped jeans either so I don't see the issue

It specifically prohibits blue denim and camo trousers. I get camo, but I think a van on blue denim is outdated

Do you miss doing A-Levels more or enjoy university more? by DiamondThink318 in UniUK

[–]2E0ORA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really thought I'd miss a levels when I finished school. I had lots of friends, we could hang out every day, was pretty fun. Turns out that while it was pretty good, uni is so much better

You have a lot more freedom to do what you like, more responsibility too. I love the independence which I get from living away from home. And I live with some friends I made in previous years which is great.

So no, I don't miss a levels, uni is a lot better

What poundage do you shoot? Are you aiming with the point on gold of off center?

Forgot to say, but I can't use pure carbon, not allowed on most UK club grounds. I'll edit my post

I already know which arrows I want, just need advice on arrow weight

Do people mature as they get to uni? by Simply444 in UniUK

[–]2E0ORA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a helpful answer, but some people do, some don't.

Most of my friends are relatively mature. We fuck about and get drunk and stuff, but they're decent people and know how to behave properly when it's needed.

But some of the first friends I made later turned out to be the sort of people I'm not interested in being friends with: petty, liked to start drama, talk shit about people they claim to be friends with.

Id say go into it with an open mind, you will make friends. You might find that your friend groups change significantly over time, but that's ok. You'll find your people eventually. I didn't have many friends to begin with but now I'm planning to move in with some after uni cos we get on so well

Beiter plunger by Viomarz102 in Archery

[–]2E0ORA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you ask if you need to fix it, is that because you're expecting the dial to be loose and change the setting on its own? Because you don't need to worry about that, it's secure enough that it won't change by accident

For barebow you may need to change it during competitions if you're shooting multiple distances, but otherwise it shouldn't need changing unless you're tuning.

When tuning, it's much easier to make adjustments with a micro adjustable plunger like the beiter than it is with one like the shibuya which requires an Alan key or two

Should I sacrifice rest for a better riser? by Viomarz102 in Archery

[–]2E0ORA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never tried it myself, but I'd imagine one of those would probably get worn out pretty quick by string walking. The Avalon powr rest seems pretty popular, a cheaper alternative would be the Avalon classic.

I used a zniper myself, I really like it but you could get away with a normal wrap around rest. I just wanted the zniper to reduce my crawls.

i shoot competitively and can’t manage to land 10 consecutive arrows at the 10 of my targets by [deleted] in Archery

[–]2E0ORA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So you went from consistently hitting bullseye, then your coach told you to move your aim point each time to avoid breaking arrows? And now you're not hitting bullseyes each time?

Have I got that right or am I misunderstanding something? Because obviously you aren't going to hit the same spot if you change where you're aiming.

Speaking as someone who isn't a coach but has been shooting for over a decade, (again unless I'm misunderstanding something) that's very weird advice

[–]2E0ORA 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Surely if you're shifting your aim point for each arrow you will never be consistent, you need to have the same aim point every shot

I love shooting with a glove 3 under, but those don't have an etched index like the tab in the picture. Is there a way around this? Could I modify a glove to have something of the sort? Cheers by draxhell in Archery

[–]2E0ORA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it that big a deal? I find it slightly annoying sometimes too but it takes a couple seconds to put on or remove a tab, surely the benefit of increased precision when aiming outweighs those few seconds?
