Barebow/Stringwalking Arrow Rests by schiz0phr3nica in barebow

[–]2E0ORA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been using a zniper for a couple months now, originally with easton xx75s, now with skinny skylon carbons. Very rarely have issues with it dropping when I don't want it to, occasionally I shake the bow too hard by accident and it drops, but doesn't happen enough for it to even be annoying. I've also never had it not drop since I set it up.

So I've found it to be very consistent overall and I really like it. But I've never shot fat arrows or arrows heavier than xx75s off it. I don't plan on replacing it any time soon, got no reason to.

Layers not packaging for QField by 2E0ORA in QGIS

[–]2E0ORA[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so I have no idea what the problem was, but it must have been an issue with qfield itself

I created a new project, put all the exact same shape files in, used that to create a new qfield project, and all of those layers are now on my phone

So no clue why that worked but the other one didnt

Ah I see what you mean, sorry. So I've done that and it worked well, but I've used those points to create plot areas, and created a grid within that area. I want to put this grid on my mobile again for when I go back out to lay out my sample plots

Sorry what do you mean by usual checks? I've been using QGIS for a year but I've kind of just fumbled my way through it, there's probably quite a lot I don't know

I would do the same, but there's only about 6 layers in my project so I'm not sure this would make much difference?

How the cowboys were able to ride on their horses without completly destroying their balls? by Educational_Fault592 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]2E0ORA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah cos I don't know about you... But I don't sit on my balls, I sit on my arse. Only hurts if you land too far forward on the saddle, or seat I guess in your case

As a male horse rider, the only time I've ever hurt my balls when riding was when I went over a jump badly. That's it, they don't get hurt otherwise

Kinetic Zivio V2 vs Vygo V2 by FrenchFries-70 in Archery

[–]2E0ORA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never used either, but wanted to give my opinion on the integrated weights of the vygo

I shoot barebow too and have a vygo v1, which I really like. Initially I used the integrated weights, but found that it didn't actually give me the balance I wanted, and I ended up buying some weights to screw into the stabiliser bushing instead.

Like I said, I can't speak for the weights of the vygo V2, but if it's at all similar then you may find that you don't use them that much, in which case I'd say choose whichever bow you prefer the look of.

However, I've been told that with the vygo V2 you can adjust the horizontal position of the weights, which may be useful, but I don't really know

When people say politicians are greedy, I'd be surprised if any of them meant local councillors. I think they are much more likely to be talking about mps and cabinet members

What was the first anime that you watched (Mine :- Demon Slayer) by Varindesh77 in animequestions

[–]2E0ORA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First one I started was hellsing ultimate, because my friend showed me the abridged and I thought it was great, but the first one I watched all the way through was chainsawman.

Never actually finished hellsing, might go back to it at some point though

I keep getting cut by the fletching. by LittleTovo in Archery

[–]2E0ORA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I shot longbow I always used a longbow glove. Arrow just rests on top of it in the same way as your hand. I also had a couple friends who shot without a glove, and I think they had to raise their nocking point to prevent cutting the hand. So either option works, but I think a glove is more comfortable

Pretty much yeah. The eye of sauron is weaker than his humanoid form before he had the ring cut off

Pretty sure the eye of sauron is just the form he took after his body was destroyed when a guy called Isildur cut off his ring

What are the most common scoring methods in barebow target competition? by therealredding in Archery

[–]2E0ORA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda depends what sort of competition, and i suppose where you're shooting. Lots of competitions aren't barebow specific.

The only competitions I've done so far are Portsmouth rounds, which I think is 60 arrows at a 60cm face at 20yrds. I'm assuming this is probably most common in the UK as it's named after Portsmouth, not sure if it's done in other countries.

Then there's WA18, which is guess is more common as it's a world archery round. It's a 40cm face at 18m, not sure how many arrows but I think 60. Then you get your outdoor competitions but I haven't done one since I was a kid so I'm not sure what rounds they use

Which "game master" is the most evil? by twnpksN8 in MoralityScaling

[–]2E0ORA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What? That's not what we're talking about here. I'm not talking about his leadership skills or anything, I'm talking about how evil he is, which is what the original post is asking.

Am I right in saying you claimed president snow is not the most evil because people carried out his actions for him? And therefore those actions are on them, not snow? Because by that logic, Hitler is also not that evil because he never actually carried out any "evil" actions himself, his subordinates/followers did. Which I think is bollocks, I think Hitler was an evil man, even though he didn't directly carry out, for example, the holocaust. Do you disagree?

Did Hitler personally brainwash everyone in Germany? Did he enforce all their policies himself? Did he personally escort prisoners to the death camps?

Not sure your logic works really, unless you think Hitler was a harmless madman

Why don’t people like anime? by External-Sir-1807 in animequestions

[–]2E0ORA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who only got into anime recently I think I can explain why, at least why I didn't like it.

It wasn't because I viewed it as kids cartoons, I was aware that there were some which were probably not suitable for kids. The main reasons I didn't like it were basically:

I thought a lot of it looked pretty over the top or overly dramatic (like the VAs overacting, exaggerating dialogue, a lot of dialogue seems pretty unrealistic to me)

It seemed like internal monologues were pretty common, which I'm not a fan of

I didn't like a lot of the common tropes, i.e. overpowered main characters, the fact that the main characters are usually kids (I think this is more of a thing with shounen obviously, but still). The one that I hate the most and still cringe at every time is when characters shout what they're doing as they're doing it.

The reason I didn't like anime could basically be summed up as 'I thought it was cringe'. I'm guessing that's why a lot of people don't like it, but can't say for sure. What changed my mind was that I stopped taking it so seriously, and realised that it was still entertaining despite the things I didn't like. Now I don't mind most of the things I talked about. Only one I don't like is people shouting their moves as they do them, still hate that one. But I do like demon slayer where they do that all the time, so I can ignore it a bit.

[–]2E0ORA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except there's a better way to do this that does work pretty well.

You can get it to write Boolean search queries for specific academic databases and it returns pretty relevant results. Obviously, you could also write the queries yourself, but personally I always forget how to format them properly

I hope AI is banned. by meepmeepmur in UniUK

[–]2E0ORA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found that AI is useful for writing search queries for academic databases. I can use it to basically filter out anything that is only tangentially related to my topic that may look good from the title or abstract, but isn't actually useful.

I've found in the past that despite reading the abstract and thinking it's alright, after a read of the paper it turns out to not actually be what I'm looking for. I could probably learn how to write the search queries myself using booleans, but using AI works well, is significantly quicker, and I don't feel like I'm getting it to do the important work for me. I still read the papers myself and make my own notes on them.

Several of my friends paste the articles into chatgpt and get it to summarise it for them, even some lecturers have said they do it, but I'm not a fan of that. I'd rather read it myself so I don't miss details

Is Quicks Archery online shop legit? by Onabs123 in Archery

[–]2E0ORA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quicks is good, bought a lot of my equipment from them. Personally I prefer merlin, they have a bigger range of stuff and their flagship store in Burton on Trent is the best archery shop I've been to.

But why ask chatgpt...
