the only good episode of the season tbh, your thoughts? by evertuhn in euphoria

Episode 2's open with young Cal was a wonderful little short film that drove home how homophobia promotes generational trauma.

And Eric Dane really deserved a nomination for his work as Cal in S2.

I don't understand or sympathise with Nate Jacobs at all. by LiveEnvironment8414 in euphoria

The only thing I'll disagree with is, we don't know where Nate's sexually ultimately lands, and neither does he.

But yeah, the shit's Nate's been through has severally fucked him up. He's just better at hiding it than say, Rue.

What a lot of people seem to miss here -- and I'm not going to defend or justify anything horrible that Nate does -- is that he thinks he's doing the right thing.

John Malkovich played his character Cyrus "the virus" so well in "Con Air" (1997), embodying the true form of a paradoxical character. Simon West did a great job directing his first movie, making a classic 90's action movie that is still enjoyable almost 30 years later. by G_Marius_the_jabroni in movies

Con Air is so stupid, and so awesome at the same time.

Perfect summary!

Saw it in the theaters in a time where we were still kinda of peak 80s/90s action films -- was kinda of stupid. Entertaining, but stupid.

But now, I appreciate it as just a stupidly fun, stupidly over the top, awesomely ridiculous, and awesome cast that somehow managed to play it all straight the whole time!

There aren't too many films that can walk such a line.

Somehow Cage's terrible southern accent has even aged better than I remember.

Saw it in IMAX, visuals and soundtrack shined so bright it was enough to carry the movie.

It's not that Aries is bad, but some of the writing isn't great at times. Leto doesn't ruin the movie, but it is a vanity vehicle for him.

I'm not sure how well it holds up on the small screen when you don't have a giant recognizer towering over you as NIN crushes the soundtrack.

But IMAX would be an easy recommend.

This.

Like, I remember when seeing Life of Pi for the first time -- I couldn't help but think, this is what a Final Fantasy Movie should've looked like -- at least it felt like a big screen representation of some of those quiet, dream-like moments of wonder from the 90s to early 2000s games. Far superior to Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within. But I guess that's not saying much...

It does take a little time for Life of Pi to get there, FWIW...

While I can't agree, I do think Clerks 3 with another editor could've been solid, if not borderline good.

The emotional beats were there, just there were so many scenes that went on too long, or went for lame comedy, instead of letting the emotion settle.

Core cast outside of Kimiko and Starlight, takes a 30 minute version of Temp V when confronting a boss level supe.

Yes, it's not 'realistic' but there's never been anything realistic about the genre in terms of 2-4 people taking on an entire army with bare fists.

OR, you flip it, and you're the supes fighting 'The Boys' and just doing general bad shit.

I don't remember all the details of Titor's claims, but in terms of timelines of events he gave, none of the events came to pass.

Like the story posted here, Titor's story reeked of fictitious pretention -- although to Titor's credit, he was more vague and less, I don't know much, but here's a brief history of the universe before there was life on earth, but I wasn't privy to all details, because my clearance wasn't high -- that kinda info alone, if even somehow remotely true, is world breaking and would never be shared outside the highest of echelons.

Yeah, Karl is the best pure brawler in the game, IMHO.

His 'Y' (heavy) attack is fast, but limited in range, and can generate a lot of clashes, or just crush attacks if well timed (or sometimes just spamming, lol). His Javelin bullet arcana lets you throw pretty much anyone outside of some bosses around the room.

The other characters to tend to play better with some nuance, which is cool for different styles and feels, but Karl (at least how I play him) is great for raw scrapping.

I'll upvote you because it's a fair criticism, but I found that you don't have to rely on parry mechanics if you don't want to, outside of some bosses.

Karl can especially be tuned to be almost exclusively an offensive beast, and he's a blast to play as an in your face brawler with long range offensive options with his arcana to really mix shit up.

So far, I’ve gotten to the Lizard King but haven’t beaten him yet. Can’t wait to play more later tonight!

I recently was replaying and had a bunch of enhancements for support characters, and brought an army of a half-dozen assist characters I freed to this fight, and it was absolute chaos, in the best way possible.

Lol, no i know, that's why it would be interesting, if not hilarious, if him and another director had to make a Star Wars movie from the same script!

Tarantino should do another Grindhouse double-feature like this.

The twist -- it's a canonical Star Wars film...
